6L6 jak dla mnie to mega ślicznotka!!! Zajefajnie wygląda ta białokremowa obudowa z połączeniu z bordo siatki na przedzie. Coś przepięknego! Aż się nie mogę napatrzeć, hihi
Just got an "NOS" KT88 model (the green one), which had slept in the store for a few years in its original box. Only the footswitch was missing - thus, the dealer included a 2-way FS-20: I'd be allowed to return it if it wouldn't work... but heck, it switches the Boost AND the reverb - a keeper! Just like the amp itself, for it is a pretty ideal "Grab&Go"-combo: 1. LOUD: I've yet to hear a louder 10W/1x12" amp! Quite more oomph than a EL34-model they also had around (though used = the EL may well have started to decrease its output). Works @ practice with the band, provided you don't need a 100% clean sound. The amp breaks up so nicely (think AC30), that I can get my Les Paul (PAF) to band-volume say 85/90% clean - which doesn't sound overdriven in a band-context AT ALL! Pretty nice sweetspot, I have to say... For live, it'll have to be miked (the built-in line-out/headphone out are both RUBBISH: Raspy, agressive... maybe good for metal...?) ...Apartment-volume? Rather not - however, I wouldn't get me a valve-amp for home-practice anyway --> you will NOT get a nice sound: The bass will lack, the breakup will generally be too loud. There are great modelers for @ home (I use a Yamaha THR10 1st gen. which is great!). 2. SOUND: 2015-19, I used a Marshall 1974X (18W, 1x12", "mini-bluesbreaker"). Actually, it sounded more boxy than this 'lil guy here! Moreover, the Blackstar is a master-vol. amp --> can get my breakup/sweetspot at almost any volume (too low = sounds fizzy... it'as a tube-amp, after all). REALLY surprising is the amount of BASS you can get with the Blackstar - sounds almost like a 20/25W "lotsa room in cab"-amp; I've yet to hear an amp the Studio's size with the same/more amount of bass. This may well be the KT88... oh, and 1 more thing: I'm NOT a metal guy! Luckily, I read the reviews on the KT88 only after I'd bought it - otherwise I might have missed out on a GREAT, GREAT BRIT-BLUES Amp! 3. FEATURES: Lightweight (appr. 15kgs): Great! Back is almost "half open", therefore no provision for storing cable(s), footswitch etc. inside the amp: Not so great. But then again: Tubes well protected, since the open part is covered by a metal grid, and open back tends to help to "fill the room" with bass (albeit less defined, read: More "vintage rock" than "modern metal"). A true NO NONSENSE MACHINE: a) sound shaping: 1 pot "ISF". Quite mighty though, and well-adjusted (to my ears at least)! MASTER VOL. allows for adjusting breakup AND sound (the louder, the "meatier" or "fatter" the sound will become). SIZE: 1x12", handy! AND it delivers REAL BASS (it's NOT a 4x12, mindya!). Finally, it looks GREAT with. its dark green tolex, and the panel on the front gives it a bit of the "CLASSIC 18W LOOK" (ref. eg. Marshall 1974). You probably have figured out by now, that I really, REALLY DO LIKE this 'lil amp! I'll yet have to try it with my 2x12" cab - more air moving means better sound, almost always (if you're a "I DO use3 my guitar's pots!"-guy, anyway). I'd recommend the Studio KT88 for band-practice and small gigs (indoor, max. 100PAX I'd say), provided your drummer knows dynamic playing & you're not in a Punk/Metal-Band. For home use, you'd better live in a detached home - otherwise, you won't really get to enjoy the amp's FANTASTIC BREAKUP & OD-SOUND. Oh, PS: For my "new," specimen, incl. 2x footswitch (cable appr. 4,5m; TRS) & incl. power-cable, I payed a little more than 400€. Worth it? HECK, YEAH!😜✌☮
I own the kt88 and I really love it. I did upgrade the speaker to a creamback which was a big change in tone, additionally I upgraded the tubes but that wasn’t as important (still made a difference I do believe though)
Very good demo and playing. I had 6l6 but after 2 weeks amp died and send it back. Amp had also hum when I plugged jack to input. But I am planning to order another one, because the sound is great and I had deffective piece. I hope.
One significant remark - you've just tested and demo-ed only the preamps of these combos. At such low Master volume, the characteristics of the power tubes are not present at all... And you are trying to compare exactly that --> EL34 / KT-88 / 6L6...
Hi! Great video. Could you do a shootout video with the Blues Junior 4 (vs Studios 10 6L6 and EL34)? Anyone had the chance to play both the BJ 4 and Studios? Which one is better at home volume (clean + distortion)? Thanks
Kiedy będzie można w PL to sobie pogrywać? Jaka cena wogóle? I pytanie do testera: czy wyjście na konsole jaka to emulacja? czy sprawdzialiście jak to brzmi na tym wyjściu?
Nice review, the problem is mostly the speaker, the celestion 70/80 is quite neutral so suits well the 6L6 amp but the EL34 would need a green back and the KT88 a GT75 or V30 for instance
Ciekawie brzmi. Na jakim poziomie głośności nagrywaliście ten materiał? I jakim mikrofonem?
