I sang this song with my choir and to this day it's one of the first ones I think of when I remember them. Truly beautiful, and so much fun!

Who'll be a witness for my Lord?
Oh I'll be a witness for my Lord.
There was a man of the Pharisees,
His name was Nicodemus and he didn't believe.
The same came to Christ by night,
wanted to be taught out of human sight.
Nicodemus was a man who desired to know
how a man can be born when he is old.
Christ told nicodemus as a friend,
"Man, you must be born again"
He said, "Marvel not, If you want to be wise,
    repent, believe and be baptized."
Then you'll be a witness for my Lord.
You'll be a witness for my Lord.
You'll be a witness for my Lord, soul is a witness for my Lord.
You read about Samson, from his birth
he was the strongest man that ever lied on earth.
Way back yonder in the ancient times
he killed ten thousand of the Philistines.
Then old sameson went a wandering about.
Samson's stregth was never found out.
'Til his wife sat up on his knee.
She said, "Tell me where you strength lies, if you please"
Well old Samson's wife, she talked so fair
Samson said,"cut off a my hair" "Cut it off"
"Shave my head just as clean as your hand,
and my strength will come like a natural man."
Samson was a witness for my Lord. Samson was a witness for my Lord. Samson was a witness for my Lord, soul is a witness for my Lord.
There's another witness, there's another witness, there is another witness, there is another witness for my Lord! My soul is a witness for my Lord!!

Thanks so much for the lyrics. That's one frustrating thing about choral music. It's wonderful to sing, but difficult to make all the words clear.

I sang this song my Junior year with my Show Choir. It was one of my favorites, and I still look at the music and sing it today as a sophomore in college. If only I knew that performing that song would be the last time I'd sing with them in a choral sitting. Ugh, I miss choir.

This is a choir that exhibits true discipline. They've truly absorbed what their fine director has taught them. They should be proud of themselves. They're comparable to the Robert Frost choirs!

Good sound BUT!!! None of them are dancing or moving at all. You need to feel the music within you or nobody will believe a word you're saying.

Brandon Butler You don't need to move around to feel the music. I've seen many choirs put on moving performances without moving at all.

Brandon Butler Watch 'Alleluia' (arr. Tavener, I believe). That piece gives me chills and the choirs aren't moving in that one.

+Brandon Butler It's for that very reason that I hate to hear/see white choirs performing Black music. It's very inauthentic and very dull after seeing/hearing the same music performed by Black choirs.

    • @J00rcek
      @J00rcek 8 років тому +2

+Brandon Butler I know this is an old comment but still - the setting isn't correct. The choir wasn't there to praise or perform at a service but to deliver a vocal performance. They weren't concerned with evangelisation or belief and spreading thereof, their only concern in a setting such as this is that harmonies stick and to have that you can't move but concentrate on hitting notes and following the conductor's lead.

    • @kathleenmckenzie6261
      @kathleenmckenzie6261 8 років тому +2

How can the audience be stirred by the music if the choir seems to be so disengaged? I agree with Brandon. As thoroughly rehearsed as this choir is, once they get onstage, they don't concentrate so much on nailing the harmonies; that's going to happen. They focus on getting the feeling out -- taught to me by three members of the L. A. Master Chorale.
