I think that it is more important for the Speed champions series to use complex assembly methods to achieve resemblance to the original. For gaming experience, there are other Lego series :)
Bruh speed champions is the ONLY lego theme made for cars so there are no other lego series for a car gaming experience
@@EnzoNotFerrari21 until we force the lego team to make one lol
@@EnzoNotFerrari21 lego technic cars are much more rigid
@@LuisElectronico yea but they are expensive, and just kinda ugly imo.
@@EnzoNotFerrari21 lego city, friends, creator, technic: are we a joke to you?
Along with the McLaren twin pack, this is the one I’m most looking forward to! Love this! On the playability vs displayability debate, I feel this theme has long since moved passed being about playability. At 8 studs wide, they’re defo more about displaying vs playing. Therefore I’d far rather have accuracy and detail vs stability. When I build they just sit on my shelf.
I agree completely.
If i want playability i buy City sets - Speed Champions are mostly for display in my opinion. More correct proportions because of the 8-stud size (which also reduced their usability in e.g. a Lego City because they became too big for the roads), and a lot of the playability was cut out some years ago when they dropped the side builds to focus only on the cars themselves. They look great and for a lot of them it can be difficult to see at a distance that they are Lego models - perfect for display.
Speed Champions always had various assemblies in odd angles to get that extra accuracy in their designs. I still have the 8-wide Ford GT from a few years ago and the whole front section can move as well. Same thing with the light assemblies of last waves Ferrari. But this doesn't bother me as I have my collection mostly on display so that I can admire these great models!
This car actually has good playability
That side profile comparison with the real car just shows how much they nailed the shapes. Not an easy thing to achieve at all!
About the purpose of the Speed Champions - I feel like the playability on those shouldn't be that of a priority, but still those sets are good for their age rating to teach those building techniques. I would love the sets with those kind of ingenuity when I was a kid as a lot of sets back then felt like they were pretty obvious in their design. They had their specific looks, but apart from some base structural tricks, I don't remember being amazed by how stuff was put together, rather than the possibilities of the system itself.
i know a lot of people don't like this version, but i personally always like the lego speed champion sets because i understand the hard work of the design team in the 8 stud framework, they always change, from 6 stud to 8 stud, fix error of the driver sitting in the compartment, new frame, new glass ... changes positively every year. and i hope the design team keep to the 8 stud design, i really like it
Finally someone that actually understands the hardwork of the lego team rather than complaining and demanding them to fix the design
Honestly half the time I spend building Lego sets is just wondering what kind of mad man sat there for weeks trying to figure out all these connections. The technic cars especially baffle me
Wow these speed champions builds just keep getting better and better
Nice looking car it's got some serious lines. The model looks pretty good from Lego. Definitely a buy.
4 door supercar, man that's a clever build!
In answer to your question: The model should be stable enough for play, as is the case with every LEGO model.
I have no issue with the rear of the car. Speed Champions had loose roof panels, front bonnets on hinges, and all kinds of other pieces that could move out of alignment. This one returns to alignment by gravity alone. That's perfectly fine by me.
I absolutely love the printed pieces, new pieces, and genius level of build techniques.
Forget the kiddies! Give me details, baby! That's literally the only reason i got into the 8stud cars. I loved the 6stud (and they were cheaper like $15USD) but these things have a lot of detail as static models. I'm not that put off by the moving back end. Lots of these supercars have front ends that move up and down. let the kids play with a Lego car that doesn't cost me a total of $27USD like Brian's Nissan cost me.
I have said it before, it is the detail and the wild ideas for the build that attract me to these super cars. I really don't care all that much for these types of cars as models or diecast replicas. It's the fun of the build and seeing how the creators best match the curves that drives me to keep buying. That being said, this thing looks like a practical Batmobile. If you built it in black it would be. >;2
Безусловно лучшая модель 2023. С каждым годом линейка всё краше и краше))
I personally only buy a Speed Champions cars with brick built front and rear lights and exhausts. I really like the cars like Audi Quattro, Skyline, Countach, Charger and others which has full brick built lights and exhausts - there are some errors of course and not everything is perfect but it gets them more sense of reality. I have a huge respect for these new cars they built like Ferrari and this Pagani, but I see a missed opportunity in the Pagani for example with a rear exhaust, which gives it its character. Really looking forward to the Porsche and McLaren, but frankly I am interested in the F1 only...
To be honest, I like the change in the Speed Champions theme, very close to reaching the accuracy of some smaller die-cast cars like you said. To be fair, when we are done building them, they are more than a display piece more than anything, so I think this is a better objective for this theme.
love how the arm that holds your mic lines up perfectly with the boom of the mobile crane (42082) lol 😜
Great review to go with another winner by the SC team: quick builds that, just like my wife, provide all the action I need in a hot minute.
lmao
The LMP and Pagani are Awesome !
As a mid-20s guy who got back into Lego through/because of Speed Champions, i'm all focused on the display looks and keeping the design as close to the source material as possible. I'm fine if there is some loss of play-ability, as long as they aren't "breath on it wrong and it falls apart" fragile.
Another fantastic video … with regards to your question, the Speed Champions have become (much too my pleasure) collectors/display pieces.
The Team at Lego with every launch are pushing the boundaries of creativity and realism over playability.
There is no doubt that this entire line is marketed to an adult audience who have the disposable income and dreams of owning these vehicles
I think that cool details, and accuracy, are the whole point of the theme. Also, there are already a lot of tough cars out there from Marvel and City themes.
Great review! Also, I think that windshield would fited well in the Koegnisegg Jesko, that round shape would helped to look like the real car shape, maybe for a future Koegnisegg if they do it
I think that if LEGO were to give us cars like Ferrari F50, BMW M3, Toyota Supra (F&F), Dodge Viper, Ford Mustang etc. I honestly believe lots of people would buy them almost instantly regardless of any issues. I had some of these as Burago models and I still love them so much to this day.
For me they are display models so i love the details
Hi Balázs! Nice video as usual! I really like your maximalizm and enthusiast in the Lego world. This Speed Champions theme one of the best from all of them. Reasons:affordable, incredibly clever building techniques created in a small form factor, not all about greedy price tags things but this is thanks for Chris who is a legend and Lego fan as well
I imagine most Speed Champions are bought by and for adults, so the stability trade-off on the Utopia is acceptable, just about. I wish they'd found a way to block it with flat plates though, so it wouldn't left as far, whilst keeping the profile and height of the rear deck the same
Printed tile! Oh yes!
Definitely one of, if not my favourite model of all time from speed champions theme. Nice work Lego and nice video.
Here's a simple solution to that wobbly tail assembly. On step 15, omit the 2x1 rounded plate-with-holes. Just plug the clips into the 2x1 'porthole' brick, about halfway. This will give you enough depth to seat the tail assembly snugly. It also helps to make sure the taillights are pushed forward on their hinges, up against the body.
I can see why Lego didn't advise this as it probably goes against spec to leave a piece half-inserted. But you'll enjoy the stability of the end result.
yay finally!!!
This is the one I'm most exited for! I got to see a Huayra recently, I think Pagani might be might favorite supercar brand.
Nice videos RacingBrick. I got this LEGO set. Good review. I liked this video and subscribed to your channel. I really want to say that the 76915 Pagani Utopia looks very nice. 👍🏻
i love the utopia so i’ll definitely need to pick this up, along with the ferrari because it’s my dream car
the black magic at play here definitely makes up for the wobbly rear section if you ask me. These builds never cease to amaze me and I think that even with its wobbly behind its perfectly playable. if I were a kid I would probably think it were some kind of trunk articulation, but thats just me :P
Like other people says, I think the playability on the speed champions set shouldn't be that of a priority.
There are many other set's that do that.
For the Pagani set, I really look forward to get one, and I hope the make a bigger set in the future.
Speed champions could be 14+ given how accurate they are and all older collectors love them
I replaced the little gray oval piece with a 1x2 brick to raise the rear up slightly so it doesn't drag. There is still some movement but still an improvement.
Good model, but headlights should be smaller :) imho
In my opinion, it‘s getting more and more a display model, and I quite like this. Singe the models are 8w, it is less playable, cause they don‘t fit onto the new road plates, at least two next to each other.
I‘m excited to see what‘s coming next. I would like to see some fantastic classic (Movie) Cars like the Bond Lotus Esprit or some new LM Models, maybe Porsche 911GT1 or the peugeot 908, Glickenhaus SCC007
This is a very enjoyable build. Limited stickers and interesting, unique pieces are used. The fix for the sloppy rear end is a very simple two-brick affair which many have posted. I know that some people have complained about the colour but the building experience is top-notch and bound to convert many non-believers.
I like how they make the car looks lowered
Its a fantastic looking car
Great set.
Accuracy and detail over everything!
That is nice. I'm in my fifties and I buy them just to display them. Not concerned at all about the movement of the rear section. But that's me, so yes, I'll be adding that to my collection. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
I think it’s pretty cool how the back is loose
Comes out the day after my birthday, already know what I'm spending my money on.
7:46 glue joined the chat.
I really wish they would print the helmets! That's what I hope they improve on soon! I have my old Star wars B-wing and A-wing pilots, some spyrus figs with printed helmets and it adds so much to them!
Your Review is Excellent. It's a toy/model. I like adding Spy Hunter Guns to my speed champs, the loose rear section doesn't matter setting on a shelf, not for 3 year olds to make Vroom sounds. It holds & stays? Objection Successful.
I like the new more accurate build for display
Really good set in my opinion
Cool
I would love to see track features and garages again like we saw with the Mini Cooper double pack and the Ferrari FXX-K. They should keep the intense level of detail and building techniques in the cars but I also want to have playability with a trailer or a pit stop.
I love Pagani but I wish they had made the Zonda R or Zonda Cinque. This car really requires that metallic color, and it doesn't look good in the regular dark grey brick in my opinion. They could've done something special with the bricks for this one. I think the McLaren F1 is the most successful design to come out of this year's line, but I think they made the concept car that's included with it too big at the front. I'm looking forward to seeing a review of that set nevertheless. But I don't think I am going to buy any of these cars this year.
I think this is my favorite of the line.
Playability! So long as the wheels spin, I think we’re good!
All the Speed Champions sets I own managed to remain very playable while offering before-unseen levels of detail. While I personally wouldn't be affected by less playability, I do feel that would be the wrong choice. I would hate to deny kids the joy of playing with these fantastic sets. I fervently hope that LEGO stays true to the winning formula it has set so far.
Even when I was a kid I liked Lego cars to look as close to their real life counterparts as possible. I believe they can find a way to make them accurate without sacrificing integrity. I didn't care for early speed champions because they looked bulky and hardly comparable to the real thing. But these more recent 8 stud editions, especially the Pagani and that Mclaren F1 LM, look amazing! I can't wait to see how much farther they can push this theme!
I would say that detail is very important with the Speed Champions sets
I can’t wait to drive this in Lego 2k drive
Definitely the detailing. But that's my opinion. I find it one of the only series that are small, affordable and have nice level of build techniques. That makes them collectibles for me.
While I don’t care TOO much about playability, I think you should still be able to play with these sets. I personally love playing with all Lego sets, including this type of sets.
i don’t have a lego store in my city, but march 3 im going on a trip to a city that does have one, i plan on picking up this, the mclarens, the ford gt, and maybe the vintage truck when i go
i dont think lego/chris wonna make the cars more playable and sacrificing the amount of details and plus its better this way!
Rear is impressive. Front is outside an acceptable level of acceptance.
Much like Senna GTR.
The back on mine version fits perfectly, almost no slack. Are your clip pins far enough in?
Just picked this up🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤😀😀😀😀😀
Yeah, I think Lego moved from playability to display ability a couple of years ago when they decided to go from 6 stud to 8 stud wide cars.
I’m personally not mad at Lego for doing this. In fact this is what brought me back to the speed champions line. The only 6 stud wide car I had was the white Porche. Lego would use a lot of stickers on a car and call it whatever they wanted. I always thought you should be able to just look at the car and tell what it was supposed to be without all the stickers. Now with the 8 stud wide cars you don’t need a ton of stickers, you can simply just look at the car and already know what it is. 👍💯
Jus got this set from my local toy store before they even dropped on Lego 💪🏽
I dont like the utopia as a car, but i do like how it translated to lego, i will definitely get it
There will never be a perfect middle point between playability and accuracy.
I think this simply comes down to QUANTITY of the line-up. If there are enough cars to choose from, and some goes towards playability, while others go for accuracy.... then both segments of the customers are happy. Trying to stick in the middle for every car, then no one's completely satisfied.
The slop in the rear end is fine. I put it on the shelf.
Not too big in size nor complex, detailed cars, affordable price, lots of choice…
As a causal AFOLs I really like this theme.
It think this is probably the best of the 3 new speed champions sets! I think the designers have a good balance of playability and model accuracy. I don’t consider the SC sets models in the same way a scale kit or die cast car is a model. More of homages that embody the spirit of the cars they are replicating.
nice
The LEGO Speed Champions Pagani Utopia is probably my favorite because the real Pagani Utopia has a really interesting design and this set is based on the real Pagani Utopia.
I really hope to see the 1:8 scale LEGO Technic Pagani Utopia. If it would actually be released, I REALLY hope it won't be so expansive like the 42143 Ferrari.
Despite the age ratings, I suspect these are most popular with adults, so go for the accuracy.
There's a 1×2 spot under the rear window of the car. I guess putting a 1×2 Plate on it simply fix the wiggling rear part of the car
I just dusted off my Decepticon Aston Martin with classic X-wing side cannons & Kreo missle launcher. It's driven by Agents of Cobra!
I love it
Can’t wait to build it
I’m not familiar with the make/model of this car but looks good!
I wish LEGO just stopped making
Red cars
Or the basic colors …
the headlights are a little weird but the rear makes up for it
Tak!
I just ordered all three along with 60383 Electric Sports Car for my nephew and realised after paying that the Speed Champions sets (which will have to wait till he grows up a bit) are on pre-orders, so I have to wait for that whole package to give him the 60383 ... My local online marketplace got complicated with how many details of the listing you need to be aware of...
I really wanted to see this set in a 1:10 scale technic like the Ferrari 488
I look at Speed Champions as display models more than play toys, but even with display models, I expect a certain stability standard for official Lego sets. I would look for a fix to the issue presented here.
Transparent sticker background to improve color matching?
my 10 year old received 2 countache as gifts and put them together quickly, played with them for a few days then ended up taking them apart. so the appeal for kids is there to play with them so keeping the models affordable or less complex makes sense for the price point we are getting. as an adult i like the build techniques and price point, collecting them is really fun. as they get more complex i see the price only going up which kind of makes me think how long will it stay at this scale for a reasonable price? getting into mid $20 range is where i start to really pick and choose which model i will get. i know that sounds frugal, but for twice that amount you can start buying technic sets. i think that if we start getting into the $30 range its better to do double packs. The beamer double set is a good example of where i think it should be $40 not $45 cause again for $5 bucks more you can get a technic set, but getting 2 in 1 is very appealing. either way this is my favorite series besides star wars and we all know how pricey that series can be, even for the smaller sets. so i'd appreciate it staying in the $20 range.
the best car of this year
LEGO needs more subtle curved slopes, I think the 1x4x1 over the rear fender in this set is just too harsh. It looks fantastic overall, but I think a 1x4x2/3 curved slope could be a valuable addition for example.
Looks and complex details. The very most you can "play with" is driving the car back and forth. Lego has plenty of play focused themes, speed champions is one of the few detail focused ones.
Fastest four door car 2023 in the world
I would like to see Lego Speed champions to be completely studless . So when shown to an uninitiated the fact that the model car is made out of Lego will be a complete surprise. Also flatter rounded tiles for the roof please.
I would say speed champions should go on the route of complexity and innovating building techniques. If kids want to play with Lego cars I’m sure they would more go towards the Lego city design of simple yet effective and fun (for children). But as someone else stated, I also would’ve loved to have these as a kid as most sets that were cheap didn’t have that many complex designs when I was a kid.

You made a great question at the end of the video. I think to make a decision on this, first LEGO as a company should make the decision who is the targeted audience for the Speed Champions theme. I think those are rather adults than kids/children, and in this case, the theme should definitely move towards to more authentic look and details. The only problem with this direction is that the adult audience is more keen on the look, so stickers (interested what you'll say for the new Porche, where tons of stickers has to be applied) wouldn't be welcome that much. Most of the income/profit LEGO is having nowdays is more from adult fanbase so I think it'd be a rational decision from LEGO to target the Speed Champions theme also for adults. However sometimes I have the feeling that LEGO wants to fit their models for both kids/children and for adults (thinking that this is the way to maximize the profit...), and due to this approach they are often falling onto the ground between the two chairs, because the models can be unfitting for the kids (uninterested, too complex, not that durable for play, etc.), but for adults don't hit the threshold of interest (not enough complex, too much stickers, don't look authentic, unnecessarily colorful bricks used, etc.).
This is favorited lego car in the speed champions 2023 collection and I might get it tomorrow or 1st of march 2023 and which website these lego sets are available
these cars are detailed, yes, but they still make for great play sets and if you have 2 then you can play with your friend or have a race, but me personally I display them
2:54 Maybe are wrong? The exhausts on the real car point up slightly. Which means the exhaust sticker on the box is upside down. Then again, the grey part on the bottom is the exhaust's inside, which should be on the bottom... Overall the sticker just looks weird.
I hope we get a technic set
Playability wins hands down. I think however, the speed champion team continually work toward, and meet, a very nice balance between playability and accuracy.
