@@Madmx-vo4ev Hey at least the Ferrari 812 Competizione is close to it's real counterpart. That's why I chose the Porsche and the Ferrari as the best SC Set for 2023.
Loving this wave. Can’t wait to see the McLaren F1. That’s the one I really want out of all of them. Don’t think it’s a surprise they’ve put it in the double pack this year lol. Will be getting all of them upon release with my VIP points. Would love them to do some more F1 cars next year (like last year’s Mercedes). As they already have an Aston Martin licence, perhaps we could get an F1 car?
You can't win them all. Some builds are what they are. I personally like applying decals, especially when assembling models. Will I be adding that to my collection? Of course I will. Can't wait to see the builds of the double bags. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
And TBF of all the cars that justify having a billion decals... an LMPh is right up there. The Porsche 919 Hybrid (this car's older brother) was the same, heaps of stickers. In fact Lego has massively reduced the number of decals compared to the real cars! 😂😂
Ferrari is definitely my favorite out of the three though I think you also sold me on the Pagani with its realistic shaping, and innovative building solutions. On the fence still with this one as it feels the most straightforward/sticker heavy and uninteresting out of the three. Still for what it is does a good job again of representing the real car. Thanks for the update on the McLaren set as that one I'm the most excited to see out of this wave.
Can hardly contain my patience to build the entire collection that is coming. But will have to because they are not yet available. I like them all. Thank you for sharing the well-made reviews of the various Lego sets over and over again. Always fun to watch.
Impressive build, can you tell the Lego guys to produce more so they have enough to buy. Popularity of Speed Champions is getting bigger and bigger. Ferrari is definitely my favourite one. can't wait to have it and build it. Thank you Balázs
I really like this set, but wished we had a little more variety. The 2 fast and furious cars are great examples of this though, and the f1 is a good addition. Would be cool to get some trucks, stock cars, and other non super car types in the future
I agree. Imo, the issue is with the name itself limiting the line, making it too focused on race cars. Altho that is understandable as it appeals to more people since they can easily recognize a ferrari & lambo yet overlook other iconic cars with ‘boxier shapes’.
Mixed feelings indeed. I would likely build this without the stickers but then again, I've been enjoying stickers again because I've changed my technique a bit and have had a lot more success. I'm a total Speed Champions addict, so I guess I'll be adding this car into my collection. I just have to figure out how I'm going to display them all...
sheeeesh it's a lego... I really enjoyed this as being new to lego... pointing out all these little "problems" that I wouldn't have really noticed really takes the joy out of it .
You have to realize that we're different and have different expectations. If I "review" a set and highlight only the good stuff, some people will call me a paid fanboy who doesn't care about the flaws and just wants to advertise the product. I always try to provide a balanced review with all the pros and cons, and I'm 100% sure that this video isn't just about the flaws either. If you don't care about these little problems, then good for you, enjoy the set!
the problem isn't that it has so many stickers. It's the fact that sticker colours still don't match the brick colour. Considering Lego keeps jacking up the prices, you would think they put some effort at better colour matching.
I would be happy if one day they decide to make the Alfa Romeo 155 from the DTM days back in the early 90s. But this Porsche will do it for me in the mean time, great looking car!
Porsche and McLaren F1 are the good ones this time around. Racecars and classic supers are way better than Ferraris and hypercars that nobody has ever seen.
The striped red pieces *should* have been printed. Black and red patterns appear in so many official sets, and are great for mocs. Not to mention that all of those pieces are very common now, so it's not like people that want those colours would be missing out. The white is a different story, but I would have prefered prints for most of the red stickers, and transparent stickers for the white pieces.
For me, this is easy: Pagani is a must-buy, and I might get the Porsche. But I’m not really a car person, so what I care about is the build experience and the parts. Porsche has some great new parts. Pagani has an interesting build, great new parts, some useful not-so-new parts, and is entirely not-red. The Ferrari looks like a good build, and has some nice parts, but I just don’t tend to build in red, so red parts don’t really help me much and tend to languish in my collection
I do find the custom chassis builds from the speed champions line far more interesting utilising the pieces you can use in your collection rather than a premoulded piece allows for far more custom building and just shows how far the pieces can go and what unique ways they can be used, the theme in a nutshell. This wave is far more complicated and display orientated rather than play and i'm here for it but understand that a good balance is needed. The Pagani is my favourite out of the 3 solo cars but the Porsche would come 2nd and the Ferrari 3rd just seems to similar in build to the F8 Tributo maybe in grey i would have liked it more and the Pagani in a Cream/Tan colour.
I'm not a bug speed champions fan but I am gonna buy this just in hopes that lego will see big sales on an LMH car and give us a technic one in a few years.
Definitely seems like Porsche signed off on this set, but Penske didn't. Instead of "Porsche Penske Motorsport" it's simply referred to as "Porsche Motorsport". And no sponsor decals anywhere, such as Ansys, BOSS, Mobil 1, and Tag Heuer. I suppose that's not a huge deal, given they did the show car version with the white striping at the front and black striping at the rear. However, I will definitely be buying a couple of these to have whenever the community can create a sticker sheet for the #6 and #7 liveries respectively. I think the #7 will be easier to pull off given the shark fin was molded in black and the one on the #6 was white, but I'm sure a workaround for that wouldn't be too difficult.
I dunno what you can't say about the mclarens but now that's I've made them the building experience is great especially on the solus gt which is my least favorite car from this wave period
I think of this batch, the Utopia is my favorite! It might not be my absolute favorite car, but the LEGO version does such an impressive job with the shaping of it (despite it IMO being one of the most challenging to do) and I also personally like to build a lot in bluish dark gray and black, the fact that the printed windscreen is actually pretty color-accurate is an unexpected plus. I'd love it simply as a parts pack, but also the full build is beautiful. That said, the jump to $25 is a bit painful, considering these cars were often below $20 just a year or so ago (admittedly some of those were still 6-wide). I get the price increases are a thing but this is feeling like a price increase on top of the price increase they already did, so I'd probably hold off on the Utopia until it's on sale at some point, or possibly even just try to get the windscreen off Bricklink or something.
I don't like the fact that McLaren F1 is bundled together with that concept car as a two pack. I understand the reason behind it, but I still would prefer to pick just the F1 which looks awesome.
All three look very nice, my first will be Ferrari, then Pagani, Porsche look nice it little long the other speed shampion cars. I can't wait to get all of them. Thanks for the video.
I suggest to go back and check that again... Most 6 stud wide SC cars had stickers as headlights, this one is brick built. Is this really a disadvantage?
The Porche is not as exciting to me, either by the actual car's design or the set build, as the lovely Ferrari or the awesome Pagani, which is the set I'm most looking forward to. I just love its design, and the set hews very closely to its inspiration. I'm also looking forward to these sets as parts packs, especially the new SNOT brick 3386, a part that has been high on my wishlist for over a decade. The new 1x3 plate with rounded ends and open studs is most welcome, too. I'm also glad to see the modified wheel well part which removes a plate's worth of depth allowing for lower profile builds mirroring the dimensions of the real cars; the effect is notable and welcome. With Speed Champions' foray into licensed properties like Fast & Furious and James Bond, I'd love to see them tackle the old Speed Racer anime designs in this line, as it's a good fit, and the designs from the official Speed Racer film sets just kinda missed the mark for me. They were fun, but I'd love to have a Mark V executed with the same eye towards accuracy, even if only as a standalone set. Kudos to Chris Stamp and the Speed Champions Garage for continuing to crank out these amazing intricate sets, and for continually innovating and pushing what can be done with the brick at this scale. I'm not even a car guy or a racing fan, but Speed Champions continues to be one of my favorite lines to collect every year for the great models, the building experience, and the parts they offer. Just a fantastic line all the way around.
Another underrated aspect about stickers: if your alignment is off initially, you can easily just lift it up and try again. Whereas if you get a printed element and it’s off center/misaligned you’re SOL. The continuous blind hatred toward stickers is so ridiculous- like just take the extra second to align them!
Easy said than done, I'm a adult fan. But how some 9 year old is going to cope is short sighted by lego. It's not easy to just lift them up and start again, dog ears and damage can happen easily.
@@liamgorman3947 it is if you’re careful. It’d be one thing if kids were complaining, but it’s mainly grown adults I hear making a giant fuss over them, which is just so typical actually
I really like detailing of the LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 963. But I just want to say that as you can see the real car has tires with the Michelin printing, which is completely missing from the LEGO version. I would be more than happy to see printed LEGO tires not only in Speed Champions but in LEGO Technic as well. Can you please ask Chris Stamp if we could get printed LEGO tires? Anyway, great review and I'm really waiting for your review about the new LEGO Speed Champions McLaren double pack!
I don't think printing on such small surfaces is something that can be pulled off easily. There's are special wheel covers used in a few Speed Champions sets like the 75891 Camaro, but even those simulate fat tires with enough space for the print.
@@bartomiejpalmowski4175 how should I know? What does this have to do with your previous question? I assume the licensing deal does not include sponsors, simple as that.
@@RacingBrick ok, but Porsche 919, Ferrari 488 and many 6 wide racing cars had sponsors stickers. And in my opinion LEGO should deal with sponsors. If LEGO could do it few years ago then can do it today.
@@bartomiejpalmowski4175 you might have an opinion, reality might be something else. The Technic McLaren F1 car for example had sponsor changes and removals even after the release. Licensing deals might not be as simple as you think.
The ferrari and pagani have some cool building techniques but the ferrari doesn't look as good imo. The porsche looks nice but is more basic in construction, which is fine imo.
Depends on what you are looking for. Speed Champions has tricky building techniques with System bricks, the Senna has something similar with Technic elements. I think both offer a nice experience, I would suggest to try both to see which style fits you better going forward.
Tweezers were mentioned in the review, but that can still be tricky. A technique I learned from a friend who worked as a sign writer for years, is to soak the pieces in a bowl of water with a drop of dishwashing detergent and apply the sticker to the wet surface. The detergent will allow the sticker to slide about when you line it up. You can also dip the sticker in the water for even more lubrication. Once you’re happy with the alignment, carefully press down to squeeze the water out, then wipe away with some paper towel and leave to dry for a few minutes. When wiping you can wipe from the middle out, or from one edge to the other, and that way you won’t trap any water underneath. My sign writer buddy used this technique to place large stickers on real cars, and I’ve been doing the same for ages on both large Technic panels and smaller pieces. For example I applied the reflective panels on the inside of the recent space shuttle cargo doors this way and they’re all lined up perfectly. Hopefully it will be helpful to you if you give it a go.
Personally I like the Ferrari the least, it seems to me it as the least brick built details and the shaping on the front hood is flat and kinda boring in my opinion. I love the curves of the pagani and Porsche however. I think the pagani is my favourite, followed by the Porsche and then Ferrari is last.
tbh the only sets i was hyped for was the skyline the pagani, i got the skyline and the design is good just too much stickers, alot of it could have been printed but that pagani looks amazing. thanks for the review @RacingBrick
The flexibility, stickers, and headlight design kill this set for me. I want to like it, but it has too many details I find distasteful. To be fair, I'm almost glad. If I liked all of the Speed Champion sets coming for this year, I'd be out of money.
I am asking the same question, whenever you are speaking with Chris - still do not know the reason why the stickers do not match the colour of the pieces, specially that they can be transparent.. :( Would you ask him that finally? :(
I'm sure I said this already, but here you go again - it is simply not up to Chris, it is not up to the Speed Champions team, so don't expect an answer from him. This is an issue that is generic to LEGO, so unless I can get hold of a sticker quality engineer - that I couldn't do yet - you won't get an answer for this.
@@RacingBrick Balazs I am pretty sure that if you would ask Chris to check this a year ago, he would help and get the answer this year or even sooner. I do appreciate your reply and thank you for all you are doing :) I really enjoy each interview with Lego desginers :)))

The ones you mentioned are good but this is the only wave where I’ve felt like I want to buy every single set. Although the concept McLaren is not that good the F1 GTR more than makes up for it.
sometimes a set is pretty but not interesting to build (Porsche); interesting to build but not pretty (IMO Pagani); or interesting *and* pretty (Ferrari).
Ferrari and Pagani are both a no-brainer for me, the Porsche was utterly meh in the beginning. Too many stickers, to flat of a build, however, after I have see a plain stickerless version of it on newelementary, it grew on me. Liked the blocky color shapes that way quite a bit.
Unfortunately I'm not a kid anymore, but if I was 34 stickers is way overboard for a model that is not a must have and according to this trusted video, not a great building experience. I was most dubious about this one and the concept McLaren and my opinion hasn't changed.

I love the curves of the pagani and Porsche however. I think the pagani is my favourite, followed by the Porsche and then Ferrari is last.
Might as well make the entire car a sticker
I this wave i miss some off classic cars, like Countach from last year or Audi Quattro...
McLaren F1 is a classic
Countach is still for sale though. I just got one myself.
tbh the only sets i was hyped for was the skyline the pagani, i got the skyline and the design is good just too much stickers, alot of it could have been printed but that pagani looks amazing. thanks for the review @RacingBrick
The Ferrari is on my top 3 best lego cars it's amazing.
We need another Ferrari or porches semi truck with F1 car
The flexibility, stickers, and headlight design kill this set for me. I want to like it, but it has too many details I find distasteful. To be fair, I'm almost glad. If I liked all of the Speed Champion sets coming for this year, I'd be out of money.
At this rate i hope they made aventador svj
hello, what is the black/yellow car behind you ??
the Technic Bugatti Bolide
Bruh. they made a white intrusions guide.
Noice
Any news on when we get the new speed champions sets after these?
No new sets in the summer wave that's all I know
@@DoorTechnicianRick I also wonder if they could ever do a awesome space ship set line..... But that's only my thoughts and it could be awesome.... Ok ttyl
The Ferrari is for sure my favorite!
Why doesn't it fit 2 minifigs like the real car? The Aston Martin Valkyrie has the same shape more or less and they managed to fit two seats.
Have you ever seen LeMans 24h or IMSA racing? These cars are sigleseaters.
The “passenger seat” in the real car is taken up by a huge battery for the hybrid system. There’s barely enough room for 1.5 people in there.
@@bartomiejpalmowski4175 OK but the windshield is too skinny compared to the real car.
do f1 plssssssssss
First, I was going to say, but no, 4th. Sad
I am getting this lego car but design is uncomfortable for 5 minfigures still it a good design for lmdh porche
Best speed champions wave yet I want to get all of them! Not sure if my wallet will allow it however 😭
Best wave yet? Is more than debatable. This porche and the concept McLaren are not better than a countach, DB5, Jesko , stingray or audi Quattro to name a few.
@@liamgorman3947 I love racing and especially endurance racing so the Porsche is one of my favorite speed champions cars ever. The ones you mentioned are good but this is the only wave where I’ve felt like I want to buy every single set. Although the concept McLaren is not that good the F1 GTR more than makes up for it.
So whrn Is the malatrn review what happened if u review before embargo does lego actually watch your videos
Then I won't be able to do early reviews anymore, so we wait
I LOVE ferrari
Porsche is really good
Pagani is ok
I was never interested in RC, but Lego has piqued my interest .For the price these are great buys.
what is RC?
@@genashpuryk 🙄🤦🏻♂️
sometimes a set is pretty but not interesting to build (Porsche); interesting to build but not pretty (IMO Pagani); or interesting *and* pretty (Ferrari).
2022 hot wheels bricking speed
The rear wing does not look very pleasant. Don't like it.
That's funny because I thought it looked good and was the main reason I bought it. Interesting how people can think so differently.
sadly the car in real life sucked in reliability
Ferrari and Pagani are both a no-brainer for me, the Porsche was utterly meh in the beginning. Too many stickers, to flat of a build, however, after I have see a plain stickerless version of it on newelementary, it grew on me. Liked the blocky color shapes that way quite a bit.
first
Unfortunately I'm not a kid anymore, but if I was 34 stickers is way overboard for a model that is not a must have and according to this trusted video, not a great building experience. I was most dubious about this one and the concept McLaren and my opinion hasn't changed.
