Awesome fishing Kayak !!!!!!!
Thanks!!! Thanks for stopping by
Sweet setup bro!
I know you posted this kayak 13 days ago, and the new big talk is the Titan X 12.5, are you thinking your are going to keep this one or make the change to the New X in another month or so?
I didnt know they made this boat you are doing a video on, that is how I found your channel, was from doing research on Native kayaks. I am or I should say was fixing to go buy a Kayak and had them narrowed down to two until I seen the video this morning on the New X prior to church this morning.
Quick question if you dont mind sir, I live in far East Texas, so I fish a lot of lakes that have trees in them. almost all of them close to me have trees, submerged under the water like Lake fork, Lake o the Pines etc. If you hit a stump with this kayak, how does the prop do taking a direct hit if you know>? I could not tell you how many trees I have rolled up on (accidentally) out here. I am currently running an older Jackson Kayak (paddle) and Like I said, was fifing to make a purchase until I seen the X video. Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you sir.
Thanks again .
Dale
Hey there, thanks for checking out the channel. Hopefully I'll be down your way next year for a few tourneys in Feb or March. But the titan X is amazing. Was at ICAST this year and even had a hand at the design of the boat. Not sure what Native wants but if they want me to get into one, maybe you'll see me in one next year. Time will tell. As far as your question with the drive, I have another video in the channel of me fishing last year in my native titan 12 in the Allegheny River and near the end of the video while drifting down a pretty fast part of the river, I hit a rock sideways, almost tossing me out of the yak. The good news is, the drive had hardly any damage. Works fine to this day. If it can deal with that, those texas trees aren't going to be much trouble.
What are the specs for the spacers and where did you get them. I’m looking at doing this for my nk300 on my titan looks more stable
Hello Mate! I'm new on your chanel and you're welcome fom EU :)) I founded between your videos you had a Titan 12 too. I have actually a Shearwater125 and i'm a bit affraid about the lenght of Titan 13.5. Can you tell me what is the main experiences between Titan 12 vs 13.5? I'm interesting the stability, cornering/turning differences and what constans speed you can do by propel and how fast can you "put" in to glide. Paddling isn't too bad with Titan13.5 neither? Normally i would trail the kayak but i need to find a right choise becasue i'm 6'2 and 260-270lbs. Thanks your advise :)
Ah and i would use my MinnKota Terrova 55lbs bow motor on it too
Hey man, i apologize for now just getting back to you but between the 12 and 13.5, there are pros and cons. For throwing the yaks in the back of a truck, the 12 works best and is a bit lighter. As far as stability, both have the same amount of stability, no issues there. The 13.5 is great for bringing everything on the kayak and in scenarios where you dont have to make sharp turns like lakes. The 12 comes in handy if you are in moving water. I am 6,3 240 and have no problem with weight or stability out of both boats. The seat is where these boats shine. Having a seat that allows you to basically sit like a normal chair and cast is amazing, especially for tall people like us. Both boats cruise fairly fast with the propel drive, not sure exactly on mph. I do believe its a bit faster than the jackson drives but a bit slower than the hobies.
Thank you
Thank you for sharing your setup.
No problem man!
Great video...I've been wanting to see what all is involved with setting up a yak. It's crazy the vost associated with it!
Awesome, thank you for the walk thru.
No problem!
So...! You say the 18 amp batteries are in SERIES? That gives you 24 volts of power, doesn't it...! You might want to change something (wording) to Parallel...! (I think that's what you meant, but someone COULD go "astray" from the wording...!).
Nice Rig, for sure.
I was thinking for the steering cables on the motor why not use bicycle cables? seems like that would solve your push pull problem when the cables are in use. The floating tubing I fear in time will saw through the hull.
That's a great idea actually
Sweet set up man! I had been planning on getting a Titan, but after seeing the new TitanX revealed at iCast it looks like I will be saving up for one of those for a bit haha
Would love a video of a more in detail motor and foot steering setup
Very cool video, that is the ultimate set up. Would be cool to see a video of you using live scope on the water
Absolutely. I'll have to do a video of that soon. It's pretty cool to see. Thanks for checking out the video!!!
Nice! How much does that weigh at the current setup minus tackle and poles?
Not gonna lie, probably around 180 to 200 lbs. If I don't trailer it, I use the sidekicks and bring the boat to the water then put everything on.
What is the clamp you are using with the ram mount that is holding the live scope pole?
Just a 1.5 inch ball mount. Link is below.
BRCOVAN Aluminum Alloy Medium Bar... www.amazon.com/dp/B0BY4W1Y62?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
What is the dimensions for the board you used to mount your motor? I have a titan 13.5. I don't want to cut a hole either.
1/2" Thick, 36" long, 6 1/2" wide with roundover edges
I notice yours isnt foam layer filled on the inside... did they quit doing that?
I haven't seen them do any foam since I've been with Native. They keep it open for storage use. Sometimes I will put extra rods in the hull while fishing or even sometimes when I'm traveling.
@@str8yakd ... No it's just a thin layer of foam maybe a quarter inch sprayed and injected throughout the whole interior... It's a safety measure in case it ever takes on water it will always float... It affects no storage issues whatsoever like I said it's just a layer no more than a quarter inch thick throughout the entire interior of the hull.. apparently yours doesn't have that because it's usually an off white color. For instance I have a native 13/5 and it's copperhead color but the entire inside is white from the foam.
So is my Titan 10.5, and it's over 5 years old and still going Strong!@@thelongshotartist1
What is the point for dual steering???
Foot steering is for when I use a motor, it controlls the torqeedo. The hand steering is when I'm using the pedal drive.
Where’s your battery for the Torquedo ?
I have my battery sitting under my seat.
Ok , thanks. I have a Titan 13.5 and thinking about adding a motor , specifically for the BassMasters Kayak series on Tenkiller in March.
@garygazman3827 Awesome man. Good luck out there. Should be a fun tourney.
Thanks bud. Looking forward to it!!
Where ya at in Pa?
Currently Washington (west of Pittsburgh)
What do you have your kayak crate mounted on?
It sits in the back strapped down with the bungee ties. I did put on screw on couch feet to raise it up a bit.
Slice a pool noodle and put it on the trailer rail, so when you strap it down your smashing the pool noodle and not your sweet yak.
Great idea! Thanks!
How heavy is that thing? You’ll need 9 men and a horse to drag that thing back up to the truck at the end of the day.
You're not wrong lol. I'm a big guy and lift weights, I can drag it loaded in and out using the sidekicks but it is heavy. I normally trailer the yak most of the time. If not, I'll load everything on once I get it on the bank, vice versa taking it out.
My 10.5 fully rigged (7 rods, 9 full #3600 Plano tackle boxes, batteries for the Garmin and Lowrance, etc.) weighs over 175 pounds, and I can still pull it up just about any boat launch ramp (I'm nearly 80 years old, and don't lift weights or workout..! It is a little heavier now, since I put a 120 amp battery and trolling motor on the back. Recon it weighs over 220 now! Takes BOTH hands to load it into the back of my truck...!). Lol
Looks like mass confusion - why not a boat instead????
someone help me out not saying anything bad or making fun. Why would you ever need 8 rods on a kayak. I can barely use 3
Fishing for fun, no, you don't need 8 rods. But competitive fishing, 8 rods are minimal. The thing is, each rod is designed to be used for a different bait or style of fishing. Sometimes bass are in very different environments such as lilly pads or thick grass or deep ledges. Frogging with a spinning rod or even a med light cast rod will mean I lose a ton of fish. Using a stout casting rod for nedding would mean I wouldn't feel the fosh hit or do very well on a finesse bite. Another reason I have eight rods is to avoid tying on new baits when something doesn't work. That gets very time-consuming and inevitably takes away opportunities to catch fish. Again, foshing for fun, you def don't need that many, but competitive fishing just makes things easier for you.
@@str8yakd thanks the reply. My grandpa fished his whole life even ran a fish market. I also have been fishing since i was maybe 2. Now I might not know anything and be stupid. I have never fished a torment or anything. I never even used a fish finder lol. I used one rod most my life Ugly sticks. And one type of reel spinning reels. Not one time have I ever not been able to catch any fish or use any type of bait I want. I do understand the time used to change baits though. Ever stood next to a guy using a coke can as a reel and no pole and watch him reel in a 40 pound carp?
@@CookingandShooting well let us all pray your kayak stays upright.
