This is an excellent analysis and I agree that Bojack dying would’ve been a terribly sad ending and that would mean that change/redemption isn’t possible. While we all have done bad things in our lives that doesn’t mean we don’t have the potential to change and having that theme in the show is so powerful and it would’ve been undermined if Bojack did die at the end.
An additional detail about this amazing episode and the haunting titular poem, is that it begins in the third person, transitions to second person, and ends in the first person - 3...2...1...jump. The writing on this show was spectacularly phenomenal and it doesn't get the views and credit it really deserves.
I don't think I've seen an analysis of Bojack, specifically this episode that speaks in depth of the Hydrangea hallway much less give an opinion on how such an amazing episode could have been even better. Great video!! This so deserves waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more attention than its gotten so far.

Hands down one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen across all mediums of art. Found this so deeply moving it’s hard to explain.
I also noticed that the things they where eating for the dinner where there last meals

Have I ever seen a single episode of Bojack Horseman? No. Did I sit through all 20 minutes? You bet.
