Philips Norelco OneBlade DIY Fix
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 тра 2021
- In this video Driveway Dudes Paul shows you how to easily fix your dead or faulty Philips Norelco OneBlade (Model QP2520) yourself.
This is the second one Paul has purchased and it has pretty much the same issue. It takes several hours to charge fully then when in use it will last for only a few minutes or worse still is when you move it in any direction it will stop operating.
The Philips Norelco OneBlade (model shown in this video) is very good when it works but the battery which is not manufactured by Philips is not.
Paul shows you how you can open it yourself to replace the battery so it will last for several shaves and/or grooms between charges.
NOTE. If the product is still within a warranty then consider returning it if you don't mind growing a beard and/or body hair while waiting for the replacement
UPDATE ...Paul has since used it for about 45 minutes. It did not stop once and the replacement battery appears to be working well. With the original battery it would not last 15 minutes

Don’t pay someone else when you can Do It Yourself!
Easy to follow. Easy to understand, great camera coverage... Awesome! Thanks for the help!
This is great. BUT. TRY THIS FIRST if it’s within 6 months or so of purchase.
I went to the Phillips website, used the chat at like 2am. Chatted with an actual person for 5min.
Told them I bought it on Amazon, gave the model number…
and THEY SENT A BRAND NEW ONE, the whole kit not just the main unit. So now I have two of everything except the unit as they gave me a return label for it.
Maybe Try That First. (And I love taking things apart/fixing stuff but it was just sooo easy and now I have a new one)
It worked seamlessly for me. (Ship time was about 10 days total from chat to product in hand and this was over the Xmas holidays etc)
MVP, took an online support chat all of 10 minutes to do the same for me! thank you!
It is much easier if you use vise-grip at the base and pull the top off. However not many people have a soldering kit handy. Great tip though. Id rather just buy a better quality product and move on. You inspired me to get handy with it and who knows maybe you should make a video on how to solder and which is best for simple fixes. Cheers for taking the time teaching the reward of being able to "Do it yourself" there is a simple joy to it.
Very good. This just happened to me. Thought it might have been a fault with the charging cable. Clearly not!
I bought my second one blade a month ago after I had battery problem with the first one. Now my second one blade is doing the same thing. Im gonna try this out! Thank you.
Sorry to hear that it let you down. Since I replaced the battery it has been working just fine and lasts so much longer between charges. Ideally the company should source better batteries.
Go to the Phillips website. They will send you a brand new one and you send them only the unit back so you’ll get extra blades/charger etc. Just use the chat feature (at any hour)
Mine just planes stop working after like a couple second after shaving. I put it to my beard and it starts trimming fine and then all the sudden it slowly stops working and then just completely turns off.
@@glleboy2233 same did this video help u
@@combosforsale4597 I have t even tried it tbh. So weird bc I bought it brand new. I’ve just been using my regualr shaver.
Excellent video mate, I followed this and removed the pish battery, just running AA Duracel and replace when needed untill I can be bothered ordering a rechargeable. Goes like a rocket now and not pulling hair on low battery lol
Thank you. Soldering battery, they want you to just buy another one from them. Good job, off to fix mine now.
Happy to help
Outstanding! I just developed this problem a few days ago and was debating buying a new one or fixing the old. I hate throwing away things that can be fixed. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment. Hope the video helps.

Great tutorial
Hi. Thanks for the video. I would like to ask if it is safe to touch the battery with soldering iron? Wouldn't it burst if it heats up too much?
Ya I’ve tried and tried to get it to pop off and no giving. Will not pop off. Sucks.
Thanks - very useful. I have a similar problem - the electrics have failed totally after a month. However just getting the cap off has been too hard for me so far. It seems this is a common problem.

The base piece of the removable broke and is inside. So that means I cant put in any new blades. Any advice how i can get it out?
Спасибо тебе мужик!
I tried this but could only get the first housing off, broke the small plastic piece when trying the second housing to expose the battery. It was impossible to get off without breaking. So I just pushed the motor inwards kinda mashed it all together, made sure everything was connected well cleaned it with a dry cloth and put it back together. Now it works fine. Idk I guess that fixed it for now. I’ve heard these go bad when overcharged and I accidentally left it charging overnight and it started doing this. It’s lasted me 5+ years charging only 20 minutes a day.
Hi,
is everything ok with replacement 🔋 with higher mAh?If originally battery 🔋 is 1.2V 1200mAh and replaced with 1.2V 2000-2800etc. 🔋 is there any issue with charging, does it charge to full capacity...is it compatible?TNX
On my OneBade, the battery is fixed with glue. I can't remove it
Hi, I was wondering if this model could be charged by USB (so 5V)? Cause on their website they are selling a usb charger now but this model isn't listed in the compatible models. Is this correct or just a way of letting u buy new ones? Thanx in advance!
Does anybody have a problem with the blade separating from the plastic. Every time I use an attachment it seems to separate the more and more I use it
Push the sides in and pull eh? My hands are damaged from trying to do that so many times
Still have no issues with it, but just wanted to know how to open it without breaking things, and also see what battery was in it. Thanks now I know and will definitely change the battery when not good enough 👍👍👍
My battery has worked well enough to have gone through several replacement blades. My minor complaint is the placement of the on/off switch. I’m constantly turning the razor off mid-shave, as I maneuver it around my beard.
the smaller part goes away, but the black battery casing won't come out of the bigger part... ;/
How to open OneBlade QP6510? No charging, no working :( after close contact with floor
Very good information Sir How to fix the charger
Is it repairable
The charger is not unusual. Most mobile/cell phone chargers have a very similar output. Just try swapping the One Blade figure of eigtht plug onto the mobile/cell phone lead and it should work. Hope this helps
@@DrivewayDudes thankyou very much for your right suggession
God bless you all the way
thanks
Is there anyway that u could use this with cord connected instead of depending on battery? Just like in usual hair clippers
I just thought of that and there is a way if u have little soldering an wiring skills. You'd open up the trimmer remove the battery keep note which side is negative and which is positive then cut the end of your charger cord and solder the negative wire to the - and the positive wire to the + then you'll put a hole were you want the cord coming out then reassemble then you should have a functioning custom trimmer 👌
Why is it not coming apart. ?
i have philips one blade pro it has stopped workinh yesterday i havent use it many times and it cannot open so easily can you make a video on it
Sorry to hear that. We will look at the easiest way to open the pro model and will upload a video in the near future
thanks how do you remove battery please? i found some glue behinh her when i try o fix?
Checkout this point in the video 3:00
I cracked opened my 60 minute version Oneblade but the battery is a 680 mah. ??? I also noticed the circuit board is longer.
Strange that it would have a 680mAh battery
Your battery IS a 14500 li-on 3,6v 680 mah. Your charger put 4,2 v 0.07 A
God damn Philips, this is just scummy. Thank you for the video Dear Sir, you spared me for a bad purchase!
Unfortunately, with regret, I must say that not all versions of one blade can be disassembled ....
I have your same version, purchased on amazon, and it is all super glued, especially in the part where the battery is, it is impossible to extract the piece underneath, where the battery is housed.
Where did you buy this version of one blade?
Possibly it changes
Ciao Marco, quanto ti è durata la batteria? Hai il modello QP2520
?
They are very well snapped together for waterproofing and are a challenge to open. I have opened more than one and they did not have glue
In the middle of mine there is a 680mah 3.7V battery and it is glued to the housing so that it cannot be unhooked
The glue may only be on the sleeve of the battery
Thats great and all, but where to buy another battery?
It's an AA size rechargeable battery that would be available in stores or online and usually come in packs of two or four. Prices may vary though buying very cheap may sometimes mean poor quality
Is it possible to change the ni-mh battery for a lithium?
Unfortunately not. A ni-mh battery which when fully charged is 1.45V. A li-ion battery is more than twice that at 3.7-4.2V and will burn out the circuitry.
I had this. I have the QP2530 now, which uses a better li-ion cell. But Philips needs to release one with a USB-C port. If they do, I’ll buy it. Because now I have to carry a dedicated charging cable when traveling and it’s a pain.
Not really, except if you're travelling for months at a time
@@claudej8805 Or when you’re OCD about minimizing what you travel with. ;)
@@starbase218 I agree that USB-C would be nice. But my OneBlade lasts for months between charges (I have the better QP2530 like you).
@@claudej8805 True, it does last quite a while. But that’s not because of the kind of connection I’d think(?)
@@starbase218 No, I meant you don't really need a charger while travelling if the battery lasts that long
I’m a beginner. Can you explain what you mean when you mention that when removing the battery you had to “prize it out”? Did you just tear it out? Did you heat the solder and then remove?
Also, if you could provide an Amazon link to a sufficient battery replacement that would be amazing.
Thanks!
Two in 6 months. Warranty is for at least a year, why not just return it??
THATS WHAT IM SAYING DUDE lol. Took 5 min with a chat rep way late at night. Got a brand new everything in 10 total days. Keep everything except the main unit.
Higher mah battery is going to happen on mine.needs atleast a 2800mah
after 8 years of use mine finally packed in as a bought a big pack of blades from amazon, it turns on for a second or two and then off. clearly the battery is dead.
i tried opening it following this video and it was a disaster, i am good with computers but not my hands or this sort of thing.
1. cut my palm trying to jam a screw driver into it to remove the casing
2. cut my finger trying to get the battery out (its glued in pretty good)
3. snapped the board finally getting the battery out _
oh well! do i buy a new one or a different brand hmmmm
Admittedly it may be a challenge for some people to open and work on when they may not be familiar with small gadgets.
When it’s working it is very good and the fact that you have many spare blades would be a decider if you want to purchase another. I have noticed that they appear to be reasonably priced on some of the larger platforms. I have since purchased another for less than 30 Euro and more than a year afterwards it still appears to be working fine. Hope this helps
@@DrivewayDudes yeah I appreciate the video dude. I live in Japan so the price is very high here, mostly imported from south America for some reason. I'll look on Amazon later 👍
A review and purchase link

Mine stopped working after a plane flight.
Strange
@@DrivewayDudes Doesn't even light up when on charge and there was plenty of juice in it from last time I charged it.
I figured it had gotten turned on during flight, but that wouldn't keep it from charging.
Actually, after this video I would propose everyone to stay away from this rubbish and just buy another brand
mine lasted 7 years
This is rubbish. This One Blade nonsense costs more than a normal run of the mill shaver with half the effort
