One of the best Markup R-XP videos I've seen. It really helped me to understand more than just what was shown. I'm starting to put together some of the tidbits of the finer points of using Markup. Thank you!
This is great! I was looking for a cross stitch Markup app that could load a pdf from the pattern generator I used because even Pattern Keeper couldn't load the file... With how many useful tutorials there are explaining solutions for this app, it's awesome!
I watch a ton of UA-cam videos. Hands down, this is one of the most beneficial and rewarding videos I’ve seen! This video is going to save so much time! I appreciate you posting it. Love your app!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm using the app pretty long time, but I always learn something new. I love all the possibilities this app gives us stitchers. Thank you once more 🥰
Hello i just joined the fb group and about to get the app. I do my cross stitch by computer and i was interested because some of the charts i have are black and white and i wanted to color them using this process. That way i can use the magic wand. So when i color the chart will i be able to save it so i can open it in my software to complete my project. i just want to change the symbols to color then digitize then. I stitch by machine. Thank you
I'm wondering if you've addressed how to handle patterns where the app picks up one symbol as if it's multiple symbols. For example, I might have a square, and there may be 4 different symbols on the markup key each with a few of the stitches that should be under the square, if that makes sense. Thanks so much for all the helpful videos!
HI Danielle, you should be able to use the symbol sensitivity slider to adjust which symbols get picked up. This can vary depending on the quality of the underlying chart. If I understand you correctly, have a watch of this video which I'm hoping will explain things ua-cam.com/video/xiUvN7hyXbQ/v-deo.html. Thanks, James
How do you clic to highlight all of the symbols when you are going to the next pages? And why does my version not have preview? And how come I can’t add Sullivans? This is waaaaay too much work to get a chart on Mark Up xp.
It sounds like you a quite new to Markup R-XP. I would probably recommend starting with an easier chart to load and get familiar with the different features. It might also be worth joining our FB group Markup R-XP Users where you'll pick up lots of helpful hints and tips on how Markup R-XP works. There is also some written documentation in the Files section of that group. Thanks
With the help of this video, I did successfully import a PDF of an older paper pattern and manually add all the symbols and colors. I’d like to reorder the Symbols page so it matches the order on the floss cards (with symbols printed on them). Is it possible to change the order on the Symbols page? It seems to be in the order I added the symbols.
Hi Julie, yes it is, on the Symbol LIst you cand drag and drop the symbols to re-order them. You can also click on the grid column title to sort by the column in ascending or descending order. Thanks
@@markuprxp Thanks so much for the quick response! I’ve now reordered my symbols. One thing though - all symbols are showing 7 of 8 chart pages are done with just page 1 remaining. I’ve run the symbol counts on page 1 a couple of times, and the columnwith stitches is correctly populated. Why won’t it show 8 of 8 chart pages?
@@julieknits pick on of the symbols showing 7 of 8 pages done, and on the Symbol Information Form it should also say which page is yet to be scanned. With that symbol still selected, navigate to the missing page and Markup R-XP should automatically search for that symbol on that page if it is still selected. Repeat this for the other symbols in the list. It might be worth joining our Facebook group 'Markup R-XP Users' where you'll pick up lots of helpful hints and tips on how Markup R-XP works. I am trying to add a Golden Kite pattern that is password protected, but I get an error message, I am assuming because it is password protected. Is there a way to still use your app with a password protected document?
If you join our Facebook group 'Markup R-XP Users' and search for Golden Kite you should find a few different options that might help resolve your issue. Thanks, James
Your timing couldn’t be better, James! I just loaded a new project and there are no symbols setup. However, I am having an even bigger problem!!! When I have the symbol or markup button on and touch a symbol nothing happens. I’ve been using this app since it went live years ago and never run into this before. HELP, please 😮
Hi Sue, if nothing happens when you click the symbol or markup button that typically means there is no grid defined on that page. Turn on the 'Show Grid' option in config to check the red grid lines up with your underlying chart. If not, then simply use Adjust Grid to get things lined up first, then you should be able to go through the process described in the video. I would probably make sure that you load the grid in Extra Mode as well. Thanks, James
@@markuprxp You nailed it…there were no red lines. I adjusted manually and I’m good to go. Thanks so much for such a quick and perfect answer. I’d say I love you but your wife would probably not like it, lol!!!
Not at present. The key page only handles single colours, whereas blended threads are specified on the Symbol Information page (see ua-cam.com/video/vgKhw5zSve0/v-deo.html). I'll have a look and see if I can get this functionality added in. Thanks, James

Can you do the same thing for blended stitches. Some charts are full of blends.
