Why did I not realize this till now!? Mom needs to be made special too.
I didn't realize it until my daughter got married :( My Ex husband (who walked out on us when she was 3 )walked her down the isle ,danced with her while all watched. I purchased her gown (I was thrilled to share that with her) BUT no special time in the Ceremony for the person who was there 24 /7 with her. Not her fault , Society often Overlooks the hours the Mom puts in. I feel all that sacred time with our children is Payoff enough!!!

When I was getting married my parents were divorced and my mom was the one who took care of us kids while my dad was off doing his thing. I considered having my mom give me away, but it caused so much family drama with my dad’s side, I buckled and let him walk me. (I was 21 then and I wish I would have had more of a back bone to say no.) but I wanted to honor my mom and I had a mother daughter dance and it was the sweetest moment 😢❤

Too often mothers are discarded like old used dishrags. Having given a life of herself to create, grow, raise up and push these beautiful people into each stage of childhood all the way thru adulthood. She's the one you call when you don't know the answer, she's the one you call when you feel lost and alone. She's always there, waiting to hear from you, because the moment you came into her life, her life became yours. Remember to cherish your mothers, because they will always cherish you!
It's true, and I wholeheartedly agree with what you stated. It's like we are punished as women for being blessed with a long life, a wonderful and meaningful experience 💐 is the opportunity to live life, especially a healthy and thriving one!
My mom was never like that. She hated me always and only loved her first son, not me and her second son. However! I hope to be that type of mom you speak of. I love children and want to give them the love I never had.

I'm 54 and have five children, I've brought them up alone and worked full-time until three years ago when I became disabled. I'm very close to my five, one of my daughters calls us a squad ❤
And you know what I say when people ask how come you managed to have such a great relationship with them all with such an awful role model? I tell them it's simple, I do the opposite she did. Remember that sweetheart, just do the opposite ❤

I think we all know this but the point is that traditionally nothing is really dedicated to the mom its all about dads and no one really thinks about it or questions it til its pointed out. Literally everyone looks forward to the daughter and father moments its a highlight of the night…further proving hes the main focus and not the mom.
At my wedding, we each gave a red rose to honor our mothers. At my son's wedding, my daughter in law's mom & I lit the candles to each side of the unity candle. My husband was my son's best man ❤️🥹We all had a part❤️

I just told my son that this evening. He was crying because he is 19 and doesn't think he is 'enough' for his age.

Brides could also start having both parents walk them down the aisle. Having just the dad do it is a holdover from the days when women were basically the property of the man of the house and the dad walking the bride down the aisle was him transferring ownership to the husband.
So sad, but true.
Walking down the aisle with the father and also taking a man’s last name. Things should really change from this traditional way of thinking, it’s sad women are also not thought of in these way.
In Africa, both parents walk the bride down the aisle. I feel this should be embraced everywhere in honor of moms
