    That Benton blade was a jaw dropper. Honestly, the glare on the water made it better because I was even more surprised when you pulled that thing. Was not expecting that. Love your videos, sir. Your knowledge base never ceases to impress me. Your ability to confidently type, date, and identify the lithic material on the spot is second to none. It's one of the very first things I ever noticed about your videos. Thanks for sharing!

      Man I pride myself on having a good eye to find arrowheads on the river. But I cannot get my eyes adjusted enough to look in streams. We went looking today walked a good size branch right below a huge bluff overhang that has flint all in it and I found one piece of flint in the creek I’m sure I missed some points but I just don’t seem to have luck or the eye for walking a creek. I’m in northwest Alabama I’d love to have some pointers for creek walking!

    Just found your channel. Subbed! My daddy was a bigtime arrowhead hunter and bottle digger his whole life. He was also a very skilled knapper. He used to go to a big knap-in in Kansas City each year back in the 90s. He’s been gone for over 20 years now but this reminds me of him bigtime. Thanks for the videos. Metal detecting/relic hunting is more my thing. But this is killer.

    Beautiful stuff man. The creek that leads up to the village site that I hunt turns into huge boulders up towards the top of the hill. I find huge chunks of pottery and other stuff amongst those huge rocks. You never know what you’ll come across in those creeks.

Basically, the more photons the better for photographing points outdoors( my best photographer friend told me that). @Theditchwalker  8 місяців тому

      @Theditchwalker  7 місяців тому +1

      That's not good.....pretty much all creeks have artifacts in them.,but some are way better than others. The question is., can the artifacts be found ....not likely if they are buried under feet of sand. .... You need a creek that exposes the hardpan or clay bottom....that's where the heavier creek deposits (arrowheads) rest

    Why is the early archaic point called a pine tree?

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  4 місяці тому +1

      The pinetree point is a type of early archaic point named by James Cambron on a type site in Alabama.....I suspect it was named because the point resembles spruce or pinetrees in the area....they are almost always heavily serrated

      @ radiocarbon dating has been proved to be inaccurate. You could take one of those arrowheads and break it into chunks and send it off to 10 different labs and so long as you don’t tell them where you found it and what it was they ALL would come back with all kinds of crazy dates. Listen I don’t want to argue back-and-forth with you on this. I’ve seen enough evidence to where I don’t believe dating methods on anything except for known objects from a known time. I.e. Julius Caesar’s dresser drawer as an example. Or George Washington’s leather belt. Things like that we know exactly where they came from. The rest is all nonsense. Either way it doesn’t take away from your cool find and what you are doing which I find fascinating and very cool.
