I'm sitting here like dang girl u look so good and I'm realizing that we actually have the exact same body like it's kinda weirding me out. But now I'm sitting here like wtf if I think she's gorgeous then why do I hate my bod? Opened my eyes for sure
+Court Schaffner These videos help me, too. I see her as average- and I also see myself as average (even though I know I’m technically underweight)- and it helps me to realize average can look pretty good. These sorts of videos take away some of my panic. I hope that doesn’t sound offensive- I am very grateful for these sorts of videos because they are good for my mental health.
@@Twinkie989 yea I relate! Little while ago I was underweight too in the thick of my eating disorder & I'd feel like that as well. The point is that no matter your size Sierra is helping everyone feel more confident even if they aren't exactly a size 12, bigger or smaller, it helps us all
I went into a store and tried a size 14, way to large. Try another item in 12 its a little tight but ended up finding a size 10 item that fit xD excuse me what
This is the first of your videos I’ve ever watched, and I never comment on videos, but with two teenage daughters I have to stop and comment on this video. I applaud your positive, no apology attitude about your body. You are beautiful! Your openness about fit issues and how much the fit of a pair of pants can affect us emotionally is HUGE. Thank you for putting this out there and letting us all know that we are not alone in our frustrations in the dressing room. Just because our body does not fit into a pair of jeans does not mean our bodies are broken or ugly. Celebrate the curves, straight lines, long legs, short legs, big hips, no hips, and anything else we all have. There is so much talk about spreading kindness in the world and we need to remember to be kind to the person in the mirror too.
That's the most annoying thing to me about shopping!! I'm literally a different size in every store and that's especially frustrating when you wait for a dressing room forever, go inside with YOUR USUAL size and then it doesn't fit...I'm done at this point!
I'm usually the same size in every store for everything apart from Primark jeans, Primark trousers fit me in size 14 (or medium (12-14) depending on what the item is sized as) but for some reason the jeans don't
I've literally never shopped at a clothing store...only Walmart and stuff..actually...I do have a few things from CHEAP clothing stores. The weird thing is, I remember fitting into size 16 women's pants several years ago so I fit into much larger now...I'm not even *that* big...less than 200 I think at about 5'2".
The worst is when you try to discount shop at a thrift store like Plato’s closet and the jeans are separated by sizes but cause they’re all different brands they all fit different so my usual size 7 can be anywhere from 5-11 and when I find a super cute pair of jeans that done fit I can’t even try on another size because there’s only one of each pair 🙄🙄
Why did you choose 11 instead of 13 in Hollister? 🤔 You know that odd is Jr sizing, aka smaller so it would make more sense to size up! Lol made me crazy for some reason.
I'm watching this realizing that we use the same size and I think I look fat but when I see you I just feel like you look beautiful. Thank you for doing these videos you are making be feel more comfortable with my body
Dont forgett that overwight can make your life up to 20-50 year shorter. Take care of yourself, looks are not everything. But im sure you both look stuning.
@@bergen-schmidt she is overwheight and can lose her life way to earli. People seams to think that only looks matter. But it should not. Do you know that more peole die becuse of their weight then becuse of lack of food? When you look at your family at your deathbed, will you really care that you have walked around looking stuning if you cant rock it more then 40-50 years.
This video is so meaningful to so many young girls + adult women. When I was younger I would cry in every fitting room. I hated shopping !! This video brought back so many memories. Im so happy I over came the way I view my body. Thanks for sharing.
UA-cam has been recommending me your videos and I have watched 2 of them previously. You are one of the few youtubers who does review in a respectful manner. You've got yourself a new subscriber! And AND, finally a youtuber who's a size 12. Bless. I especially love your body positivity and your character as well, keep it up Sierra!
And now she’s a hollister ambassador! Here’s to companies realizing that real bodies are so impactful in the media and shout-out to Sierra for all of her hard work and success!!!!
😱 In my country at hem I size down. Other brands have way smaller sizes. I have a 38eu size and at hem a 36. I never knew it was an issue in other countries!
H&M has clothes made in China, so their sizing is chinese, therefore much smaller compared to European or American sizing, because that's the norm there.
To all of the haters, you all should know that Sierra is seriously the most genuine, kind hearted, humble person on the internet, who just so happens to make around 500,000 peoples days better every single day. So please take your hate and unnecessary comments elsewhere. Only positivity on this channel ❤️
Shauna Rohr I get being humble but telling people “it’s the clothes not your weight” Is total bullshit. Obesity is real. It’s a big problem. Americans have never been fatter then they are now. So telling people “ hey diabetes and heart problems are ok” is NOT a good message
Why the heck is everyone suggesting sizing up ? Did u even read the title . It's trying on size 12(!!!) in different stores not looking for a fitting jeans in every store. Stop those hateful comments, Sierra is gorgeous and she can call her body shape whatever she wants. Love her ❤
Well she didn't size right for Hollister at all. "Teen" jeans run smaller, so sizing down to an 11 was a mistake and isn't even equivalent to a 12. If you wear a 12 in women's, you would need a 13 or 15 at Hollister. I just don't know if they go up that high. Also Hollister jeans suck if you have any kind of curves. I loved their jeans when I was a skinny, shapeless teenager. As soon as I started getting older, getting curves, I can only fit women's jeans. I'm only a size 4-6, but I need something with smaller waist, bigger butt and thighs, small calves. Hollister just isn't made for that body type lol.
@Nina S. So all she showed was that sizes run differently??? LOOL why complain... all sizes run differently even for skinny people.. just find things that fit you. This video was aruoud
I’m 23 and also a size 12 and I avoid wearing jeans at all costs just because I always get so triggered when something doesn’t fit so this is just so nice to see
I get the bulging through the holes in jeans too and i’m a size 4!! I always size up in specifically ripped jeans and then wear a belt lol Ladies (and men): don’t feel bad for having body fat and skin! All of this is super normal for any size. Great video!!
girl let's just give it to you for being a champ and going to 12 different store to try on jeans I would have given up between 5-7. Honestly going to one store is hard enough for me.
I cried wen she told her Hollister story breakdwn..this happens w/my daughter alot! I really appreciate this video! I showed it 2 my daughter who's 9yrs old!
JK Mid it’s sad that that’s happening to younger and younger people it’s like these brands are trying to make people feel bigger than they are the sizing of jeans has been seriously getting worse ( pants size means almost nothing nowadays) no consistency
JK Mid no consistency and the pants could be constructed for certain people , check the brand and their target audience because if a jean company’s target audience is athletic built people then it will mostly be a straight fit for a person with a butt or a small waist compared to their thighs
I couldn’t find jeans for my 9 year old anywhere until justice plus size jean leggings came down from the heavens and blessed us. Check them out if you’re having a hard time finding jeans that fit your kid right.
In American sizes I'd be a 4, but I am curvy and I am so glad you cleared up that one can be curvy no matter what size! I haven't seen these "curvy" jeans anywhere here in Europe yet, but I hope they're coming soon.
exactly!! im a UK 8 (i think US 6?) but have wide hips. ive never seen curve fit clothes in my size here. whenever i try to find curvy jeans all i find is plus size
last year I bought some jeans from zara which were called "love your curves" but I don't know if they still sell them! :) they only were like 25 bucks too
Im trying to figure out why people are saying that she's delusional about her size but she shows you what size she picks ( a size 12) and shows you that size on. So clearly she has to be around that size if she's putting them on.
Thank you, Asia. I don't know how people can be so nasty with their comments... You can't just look at someone in a video and think you know their size, and to comment saying she doesn't look such and such number is actually the whole subconscious lesson of the vid..it's not about the size! Bodies are a funny thing. Me, for example, I just purchased a size 23 (000) jeans. They are designer, not vanity sizing. Yet, if you look at me, some may consider me a little chubby (still can't bear my mid-drift). I am not some tiny little Asian that fits into tiny clothing like nothing, I'm a 5'5" white girl with hips. Yeah, I'm a good 2 sizes bigger at teenager stores (that don't account for womanly hips in their clothing)...that just goes to show, what the heck is in a number?! Quit judging. Do what makes you feel healthy!!!
Reading the comments on this I can understand why you would have been hurt. I think many people got on the hate train and started making comments on your body for a few reasons- they really missed the point of the video that you were pointing out. That sizes are never the same proportions at different shops a12 can be a 10 or a 14 like you said in your wrap up. The other is because some people see a positive channel like yours and think it's a perfect place to pull others down and be hurtful and mean which could be a definition of a troll. You have lots of viewers who get your ethos. You have felt good about how you look , which is stunning. You want others to start to love how they are. I am so happy I came across your channel. So many beauty guru have this image of been tiny and following every trend is the only way of been beautiful. You are a breath of fresh air. Feel good as you are. Find what works best for you and thrive. You are truly inspirational Sierra.so is your friend Skylar... sending you so much love and prayers.xxx
in your vlog the other day you mentioned you were shocked by the amount of hate you got in the comments of this video. i just wanted to take a minute and let you know you are BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, and DIVINELY MADE. inside and out. don’t let anyone dim your sparkle!
Sizes are bullcrap! It can creep up on your self esteem and Thats Sad. Mens sizes fit me better than womens sizes. (Oh well, enough reason to keep stealing my boyfriends sweaters 😬). Don’t let sizes get into your head girls! You slay no matter what number ❤️
Sierra, I’m normally a small or size 5 in juniors. My wedding dress was a size 12! But as you said, I just had to remind myself that the size is just a number!
Mandi W I totally see your point but I don’t think she was trying to be negative! I think the point was just that being really used to seeing the same size on you and then suddenly being told you’re 7 sizes larger is a little jarring. Nothing is wrong with being a 12 (or a 2, 8, 16, 24, etc) but we as people get used to the way we look and what we wear I suppose.
Hollister is owned by Abercrombie, but AE is not affiliated with Abercrombie or hollister. Hollister is one of Abercrombie’s sister brands similar to how Aerie is a sister brand of AE. AE is a completely separate company therefore there is no connection to Abercrombie/Hollister other than they share a similar customer base. I’m not sure about how the design process works for either company but I do find the issue of sizing interesting.
Hollister is owned by Abercrombie but Hollister is basically teen sizes; their clothes are smaller. I’m normally an XS in almost every brand but in Hollister I’m an S. AE has nothing to do with the other two but the sizing is kinda like Abercrombie.
I'm a 12 year old and i have a curvy stucture, i would usually get bullied for my body. But watching your videos make me smile, especially when I am starting to like going shopping. Thanks and keep doing great! 💖
girl you are beautiful just the way you are ! don’t you listen to those kids who are jealous because they can’t look and have the curves you do ! YOU DO YOU BOO ♥️
I remember someone saying once no one else sees the size on the label once you get them home and cut the tags off. If it truly bugs you that you are 16 instead of the 12 you used to be -cut the tag out yourself! If they look good - they are your size!
The point of this video wasn't about her forcing herself to fit into a particular size or caring about what other people thought of the size you wore. The point of it was to show the inconsistency in clothing sizes for women. It's just really disheartening that you can't just know that you're a size 10, 12, 14, 16,.... whatever that number is I'm just pick it up.
@@laurenc9458 or don't be a fat shaming ass. 🤷 You don't care about being "healthy," you just care about looking morally superior by policing other people's bodies.
It makes sense that men usually have an easier time with sizing in comparison to women. Men don't typically have curves in their hips, butt, and thighs like women do. Curves are complicated because not every woman is curvy in the same way, which makes it a challenge for designers. At least there is options at different places. Just don't get discouraged trying to find them!
Lizard Stauss A guy here with large thighs/butt and a curvy body shape. Not all guys have that stick and flat stomach thing going on. Literally anyone can have a curvy body. Just frustrates me when it comes to jeans. They almost never fit me because of this. Women at least have options to combat these issues, but men have nothing. Every store is like Hollister for curvy women to put it into perspective.
@@owen_z_schwartz I get it. I'm just saying it is more common for women to have curves than not, but yes I agree that anyone can have curves. I hope there will be options out there for you in the near future. Even as a girl with options I still have a hard time.
She’s moreso talking about how a 33/34 in men’s jeans will be the same for many stores but women’s sizes will be a 8/9 in one store but a 29/30 in another store or a medium/large in yet another store.
It's also easier to design for men because of that. For the most part, men are shaped the same. Sure, some may have beer bellies or extra-large shoulders, but almost all have a rectangular box shape because male fat distributes itself differently than female fat. There's also the fact that men typically don't give a shit what size they are.
I'm re-watching all of Sierras videos to make my heart happy, and she mentioned just passing four hundred thousand subscribers and now shes on her way to TWO MILLION and I'm thriving
Sierra, I’m not surprised that your channel is growing the way it is - you are so good at this! The way you share your perspective is honest, positive, and infectiously charming! More importantly, your thoughtfully-worded messages are lighthearted, but powerful; you truly help people see themselves differently and feel good in their own bodies ... I get tears in my eyes thinking about it. I’m SO glad you’re doing what you’re doing, sis, and I wish you all the success in the world. ♥️
I have lost over 70 pounds this year and am now in a size 12. I’ve been only wearing Maurices but this was a neat video that has given me more ideas! I would have never considered Abercrombie or AE because I’ve always been too big for their store. Maybe I need to go back.
I work at AE and it's not even the employee in me that makes me recommend it to everyone 😂😂😂 like literally, the first time I got to buy a pair of Jean's and wore them I swear to god it was like a revelation lmao right now I LOVE the "dream jean" they're literally the best thing I've ever bought, but they're pretty pricey. But I'd say, considering how stretchy and move/breathable they are it's definitely worth dishing the money on
Hollidy Magadan is there something specific you have eaten to lose weight. My lower belly is so big and saggy I cannot button up the jeans it feels so tight when I bend down to tie up my laces
@@Allyza01 I've lost 17 pounds this year and I just did it by making sure I ate 1800 calories or less, everyday. I downloaded a food diary app and used it to keep track of how many calories were in each item of food. If you eat about 2000 in a day, you'll maintain your weight. By dropping down to 1800, you should lose weight at a slow, steady pace (this is also a pretty healthy way to do it because losing weight quickly makes it more likely that you'll gain it all back once you've finished your diet). Of course, there are many ways to lose weight, but this is what worked for me.
Sarah Gaeta I think their online store’s sizing is off. I have a size 8 from them that is to tight and I am a 2 or 4 in their store jeans. That’s not the first time either
Or JCP jeans buy one $20 get one for a penny. lol shopping for jeans is my kryptonite! Partly because any good stores are over 2 hrs away. It's a whole day trip and I'm lucky if I come home with two pairs. 😭 👖
The great irony is that by stating that she does not look like a size 12, people are confirming the very point she is conveying in the video: How very different brands manufacture a size 12, and thus affecting the publics' perception accordingly. If this is aimed as an insult, the joke is actually on the person making the comment, because the very obvious point in this video escaped them.
@@jehebdjbrbrve548 mhm, and i dont really know how many lbs per size is standard, but im a LOT thinner, im thinking maybe sizing might be different canada vs US (if thats where she was from) but a 12 would only be a little baggy on me
Well yeah, but also as a whole different countries have different sizes. Aka I’m from Australia and I’m a size 12, but my waist is 28/29 inches, whereas she was buying 31 inches. I was that waist size in 2017 and that waist size was/is considered a size 16 in Aus. And I remember going to Singapore when I was in high school and trying on clothes there and nothing fit because I‘m kinda tall (172cm) and I was quite taller than virtually all the women I saw there and so I was buying XXL or sometimes not being able to get anything at all. So it can also be a case of a different countries needs for clothing. But I do agree, I’ll go into a store and be a size 8 in shorts, or a size 14 in jeans, when I’m generally just a 12, or a size small in a top or if it’s got sleeves (I have broad-ish shoulders) then I’ll need to go up a size. It’s all pretty silly, but there’s no organisation that says “this is what a true size 12 is” because different companies from all over the world decide what this number means, and it’s just a pretty arbitrary number in general. When it comes to jeans/pants, sizing by waist size in inches as opposed to “size 12” is the best way to work it out because you can actually measure it yourself and you’ll probably be close most of the time.
This video was SO empowering and comforting for me. ❤️ From 85lbs to 180lbs and everything in between, I’ve always had a curvy build and I hated myself for it and put SO much stock in numbers (on the scale, in clothing sizes, etc). Now I realize that those things don’t matter and that my body is beautiful because it’s mine, and I LOVE that you preach that kind of message and do it in such a well-informed way. Well done ❤️
The H&M jeans didn't fit because she chose European size 31 which is between a UK size 12 and 14. A US 12 is a UK 16 so she would've needed a European size 36.
@@elenavalkeriye Yeah. 36 is S. 32/34 are the smallest they sell at HM here in Norway (not including the "curvy" clothing line) and 42-44 the biggest. I have pants from HM that are size S and then size L, so I think they're confused... or maybe I'm confused. I actually think they have a 'teen' clothing line (without calling it that) with smaller sized clothing, and then the 'regular' size for adult is one size larger, or something. When I was in Germany, the clothes that said S were actually M, and in France a M is an S. It's confusing as hell.
I totally suggest trying out the Dream Jean's we have now! They're literally the best pair of Jean's I've ever owned and honestly the only ones I ever wear now despite the couple other pairs I own 😂😂
I love your outlook on body shape and size. I had a baby earlier this year and I have been struggling with my body changes and weight gain. Thank you for the body positivity reminder ❤️
I would definitely recommend finding your size of jeans in american eagle jeans to all people because they are probably the best jeans in my opinion. They are such great quality for the price and fit curvy girls so great!
K i work there and i’ve worn american eagle since i was 13, now i’m 18. the clothes are really great, usually modest but super comfy and cute. the freaking jeans kick ass.
So interesting that in a body positive video nearly all the comments are critiquing her body 🙄 we’ve still got a lot of work to do in lifting each other up.
or the negative comments were more prevalent 6 months ago when they commented? the first reply was 2 months ago. last I watched this video, I found a plethora of hate comments - so, no, not lying at all. ya’ll just came late.
Awesome vid but why did you size down in Hollister? I go to hollister a lot (I’m in highschool) and like you said, they are mainly for teens. Wouldn’t it make more sense to size up?
Rewatching this vid because it always makes me smile. I starting watching when I was also a size 12 and you really gave me the confidence to not be ashamed of my body and to dress it in the size it is and not the size I want. Coming back to rewatch because I’ve been on a weight loss journey for the past two years and still having the same sizing issues. I fit into a 6 in most stores no problem, and am approaching a comfortable fit in a 4, but then I’m not even close in a size 4 gap jeans but I can fit into a size 2 lucky brand? Who knows?? I appreciate everything you do, Sierra. You’re always so sweet, gorgeous, and relatable!
I’m going to turn 32 in a few weeks (yikes!), and I STILL feel like an insecure teenage girl when shopping sometimes! Your channel has helped me improve my confidence because we’re a similar size and body shape. And if you can rock it, so can I! So thank you Sierra! 🥰
Not going to lie, I was skeptical at first with Good American jeans, but they are so comfortable and look amazing. I got mine from Nordstrom Rack for about $64, they sometimes carry the brand for waaay cheaper! It’s worth checking out!!
I'm so glad that stores are starting to carry "curvy" pants. I think a lot of people have this perception that curvy means big, but it doesn't. I am a size 2-4 but I have very wide hips so I often have to get a 6-8 and then end up with a huge gap at the waist...it's one of of the reasons I stopped wearing jeans and just wore leggings all the time
5:40-6:20 Made this video worth watching! I feel like all curvy girls regardless of actual size (0-20) have that moment after puberty where their clothes and the clothes from their favorite retailers do not fit the same way anymore. I had that moment at 15 with my mom in a dressing room once upon a time and I felt terrible. My mom told me I had an amazing curvy body and that I didn't understand now but I would appreciate it one day. It wasn't till I turned 24 that I understood what she meant.
I have a curvy body type, Im usually a size 2. And let me tell you, American Eagle jeggings are the best!! They make my butt look amazing and they fit amazing at the waist. I also love that online they come in short and long sizes. And im super short so having that option is a plus!
Julia Homola it’s funny because I’m only an inch taller than you and the Regular length hits me just right! My bestie is also the same height as me but she has a shorter torso and longer legs so she always has to get the Long length. But we’re both AE fans because they offer the length options. 😁😁
Yay! I have worked for American eagle for ten years and let me tell you- the jeans and jeggings are the BEST. I probably have over a hundred pair. They last a really long time too. I have a few of my favorites that came out in fall of 2008 I get compliments on them to this day!! Xoxo
Carly Suplita same. Between the lighting and the tiny sizing you’d think they want you to hate yourself. Now I’m an adult and realize my body was fine. I just didn’t realize you’re set up to fail in that store at the time.
Abercrombie jeans are now different material and they are a must! They are sorta like American eagle jeans😊 Im 16 and I am a size 12 and I used to hate Abercrombie jeans because they wouldn’t fit true to size and this year I decide to try them again and it was a success🤞🏻
I ordered from H&M online and there was a flyer that said they were changing their sizing "to better reflect customer feedback" or something like that- their shifting one size up. You're not the only one who thinks their sizings wack!
I bought a jacket at h and m and I’m now a size smaller! Size 8! I only nocticed the tag saying they changed there sizing cuz I had to size down 3 times!
Sierra, I have no other social media to contact you through so I hope you see this. You should really block the user Destiny peron from your channel if you can. She’s nothing but a negative troll and is bringing so many people down. I wrote a very heart felt comment and she keeps destroying everyone in the comments. It’s awful! I didn’t know how else to reach out so I hope you see this :) happy holidays !! ❤️❤️
🤦♀️ sticks and stones sis... everyone needs to grow thicker skin. To get that upset over an internet troll says more about you than it does the troll.
I'm so glad I found this channel. I have been struggling with self-confidence in being able to wear pants other than leggings because normal pants just fit me so weird because of my proportions (smaller thighs and bigger tummy). It's nice to see someone who is also a size 12 and around my age so confident. Thank you so much. Seriously.
My wardrobe literally has so many different sizes in it, ranging from a size 8 to a size 16 (uk sizes). I never shop online because although I love the clothes I never know what size to get because of my body type (my waist is a lot smaller than my hips, and my thighs are pretty thick too), so it all depends on how it's cut, but you can't tell that from a picture sometimes. I've literally freaked out in so many changing rooms, and I know it's awful but it kinda helps knowing that I'm not the only one! You look amazing in everything though, so you really do give me so much confidence! Thank you! :)
I’ve been binge watching your vlogmas from last year and had NO idea how the reaction to this video made you feel..... I friggen LOVE you. Some people are asshats. You are SO creative & body positive for all! You’ve helped me gain SO much confidence- even enough to make my own channel. You rock Sierra. Seriously. You do ❤️🥰
Thanks for making this and spreading awareness. Women's sizes are a pile of BS!! I'm a size 3/5 usually and have a rectangular frame and it's SO frustrating to shop in women's stores because of my teenage physique. Even some teen specific stores don't fit right. I stopped looking at the size tag a few years ago and just grab what fits
Kari G you are lining the pockets of any company you buy jeans from. Doesn’t really matter if it’s the Kardashian’s or Levi’s .... someone is getting richer!
@@ceilingfansunite believe it or not you usually get what you pay for with jeans. Especially if you get a classic wash that you can wear for a long time without it looking tacky and outdated in a year or two. For the trendy washes and styles id go for cheap options because who knows if pink jeans or ripped and distressed jeans will be popular next year where as a classic blue, black or even white washes will always be safe.
@@Lemonade_Stand_ I used to buy cheap $20 jeans and just started getting 7 For All Mankind & Paige jeans 2 years ago, I will never go back. I'd rather invest in one nice pair and have them last years. There's certain things I cheap out on & jeans aren't one of them.
They have smaller sizes everywhere. I'm from Finland and my size is usually a 36 (6 in US size) but in H&M I always have to go for 40 or 42. (10 or 12 in US)
Sarah Fletcher I heard about the European sizing thing... but usually you would expect to see multiple size listings on a tag in that circumstance. And considering they are selling in America (and Canada in my case), it’s still really ridiculous. (Also, I didn’t mention that was the biggest size they had available of that item at the time, so that was the bigger issue.)
I usually wear a size 8 in dress pants but with jeans I’ve had to buy as “small” as a size 4 in GAP and as “large” as a size 12 at Rue 21. I am so glad I found your channel literally yesterday and immediately subscribed because I needed this video to see that other people share my feelings!
Alia Gonzalez rue21 is so confusing....!! A pair of overalls I tried on in a small WERE SO SHORT and I couldn’t even get them over my shoulders! Then I got a small in a romper and it was too big ??
Im having such a positive experience watching all ypur videos. I know you probably wont see this as this video is 7 months old but that story about being in the change room going back to school shopping with your mum and just loosing it because nothing fits... It's so good to know we aren't alone. And it's good to see some companies are changing their tune and putting real sizes out there 😊
I have 14 pairs of AE jeans with two more on the way! And yes right now they’re having a 40% off plus free shipping on their website! I got super lucky because I went to check out and saw that I qualified for a free pair (you get a free pair after you’ve purchased 5) and $10 off my order! So what would have normally cost me about $80, I paid 14.98!!! 😍😍😍
I always have this issue when shopping online! It gets really annoying when I'm an extra large at one store and an extra small at another! I ALWAYS have trouble with Old Navy jeans because the jeans in the store seem to be different sizes than the other jeans in the store! Thanks for making such amazing, body confident videos! Love you! P.S LOVE your hair!!!
Jlyn D that’s what I was thinking? Why did she just trythe size 13? That’s what I wear. I love hollister jeans I’ve been wearing them since I was 13. From size 00 when I was 13 to size 13 now at the age of 24.
Ok, this is incredible content!!! I WISH I had your content in my teens and early twenties when I was struggling to find clothes that fit my curvy body (before I discovered American Eagle hehe) Change room breakdown flashbacks are TOO real. Thank you Sierra - love all of your videos!
Ok ....so I am in my early 50’s and just have to say “you go girl”. Just started following you and you are awesome!!!! If I could tell my much younger self back in the day one thing it would be...love you for you , not the portrait of what a girl/women should be per media etc!! Huh, that explains a lot. I always used to cry because I couldn’t fit into a size 7 but somehow fit into a size 8 perfectly. Didn’t know it went up instead of down

When you talked about your breakdown in the dressing room, I felt that in my soul. I feel like what gets me down is not the number on the tag but the frustration of starting from scratch to figure out my size for every single item. Just the process of going up and up and up and being like "but can I just get one that fits!" If I could just try on 1 or 2 pairs and find the size I need it wouldn't be so bad but to have to try on 5 or 6 different sizes because a brand (like H&M) just sizes however they want is so frustrating. Guess I've been holding on to that for a while...thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
So I know you don't need to hear this because you already have amazing confidence but for the record I'm between American sizes 2-4 (and kinda on the petite side) and yet I still have experienced the "chub" poking out of certain pairs of distressed jeans! And I'm overall lean (I carry my weight in my boobs and butt ) in my arms and legs... Some stores are just confusing 😂😂
I just stumbled across you for the first time and this is the first video I have watched of yours. You are an incredible breath of fresh air and a delight to watch. I am 54 years old and have now watched multiple generations of girls and women degrade themselves and hurt their bodies because of numbers on clothing labels. You now have one more subscriber as I am excited to see what else you get up to with your bright and positive self! You are changing lives, both old and young, with all you are doing. Keep being your bootiful curvy self! You are a rock star! With peace, gratitude, grace and light! XO
I love the mid rise super skinny rockstar jeans and ive recently developed and appreciation for highwaisted pants and wanted to pick up a highwaisted pair but they fit different. Even the fabric felt different it was weird.
@@missmarymary6506 i prefer the midrise ones with the functional zipper. I have like 4 or 5 pairs. I bought a highrise pair recently but the fabric is different. I wish they would make the regular midrise rockstar ones in a highrise but keep the same fabric and everything. And ya i only have the black ones, the rest of the washes are ugly and tacky.
I’ve been binge watching your channel the last few weeks and girl I love you and your channel. You are so real and relatable. I gained weight after having a baby and was so sad because my jean size increased, but watching your videos have helped me to remind myself that it’s just a number. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your life!
Right! I shopped in JC Penny and I got three pairs for some of the more reasonable prices listed. I had no idea mall brands were charging so much! I know the quality is a little better but still...
For a long time the only brand that carried my size was Torrid, super high quality clothes but jesus its so expensive. I think I’m gonna start branching out now that I know other brands carry plus sizes now. Torrid jeans are ALWAYS like $60+, its so ridiculous
i got the Old Navy jeans half off this weekend. I thought I was too old to fit in them, but then I saw the curvy short boot cut style! I like skinny jeans but sometimes just want a boot cut. No way i'm spending even 40 bucks for jeans. I might spend that for nice work pants.

@@Twinkie989 yea I relate! Little while ago I was underweight too in the thick of my eating disorder & I'd feel like that as well. The point is that no matter your size Sierra is helping everyone feel more confident even if they aren't exactly a size 12, bigger or smaller, it helps us all

Heather Palmer you’re a great mother. My mom has always told me “otherwise “ let’s just say , but I really like your last sentence. Thank you.
Couldn't have said it better!! Great video.
This!!!!!
Preach!
Well said!!
Alisha Stevens Yeah Primark jeans are SMALL. I tend to size up even as much as 2 sizes! I wouldn’t worry- it’s not just you XD
i always go to the dressing room with 2 different sizes of everything, i hate to wait in the line so i just go 1 time with a lot of stuff
Why did you choose 11 instead of 13 in Hollister? 🤔 You know that odd is Jr sizing, aka smaller so it would make more sense to size up! Lol made me crazy for some reason.

Exactly it was to show inconsistencies
I like how she said American Eagle is her favorite. For all the same reasons American Eagle is my favorite too 😂
@Nina S. So all she showed was that sizes run differently??? LOOL why complain... all sizes run differently even for skinny people.. just find things that fit you. This video was aruoud

JK Mid a story most, if not all, girls with a little cushion can relate to 😞😞

Girl, so many brands that are sold in Europe have "curve" fit!!!
Im trying to figure out why people are saying that she's delusional about her size but she shows you what size she picks ( a size 12) and shows you that size on. So clearly she has to be around that size if she's putting them on.
Some stores (especially GAP and Old Navy) run bigger than they are. So she MAY be bigger than she says because those stores are EGO boosters.

Sizes are different as a Usa12 is a 16uk
Reading the comments on this I can understand why you would have been hurt. I think many people got on the hate train and started making comments on your body for a few reasons- they really missed the point of the video that you were pointing out. That sizes are never the same proportions at different shops a12 can be a 10 or a 14 like you said in your wrap up. The other is because some people see a positive channel like yours and think it's a perfect place to pull others down and be hurtful and mean which could be a definition of a troll.

Sierra,
I’m normally a small or size 5 in juniors. My wedding dress was a size 12! But as you said, I just had to remind myself that the size is just a number!
@Mandi W Are you being sarcastic? A size 12 isn't *that* big lmao. 😂
Abercrombie, Hollister and AE are all owned by the same company so it's crazy how much the sizes differ.
Aimee Gardiner they may be owned by the same company but their production is handled separately and they likely employ different fit models.
AE and Abercrombie are sister brands. I’m pretty sure they all have different design teams tho
Tbh it doesn’t help that she tried on the wrong size in Hollister. She tried on a 31waist elsewhere but a size 11 in Hollister is a 31” waist.
I think with hollister you should have tried a 13 because they are sized smaller in general.
Really? I'm not American find them true to size, even running big compared to UK/EU brands like Topshop.
I'm a 12 year old and i have a curvy stucture, i would usually get bullied for my body. But watching your videos make me smile, especially when I am starting to like going shopping. Thanks and keep doing great! 💖

I remember someone saying once no one else sees the size on the label once you get them home and cut the tags off. If it truly bugs you that you are 16 instead of the 12 you used to be -cut the tag out yourself! If they look good - they are your size!
Wow that's genius. I'm doing that now
I saw the girl on What Not To Wear say, who cares about sizing. If you want to be a 6 and you're a 16? Scratch out that 1 and proof you're a 6.
Yeah, the point is to show that same size varies in different stores. She is a 12 in most of them
The point of this video wasn't about her forcing herself to fit into a particular size or caring about what other people thought of the size you wore.
Also if it gets too difficult guys will find something different to buy

I have lost over 70 pounds this year and am now in a size 12. I’ve been only wearing Maurices but this was a neat video that has given me more ideas! I would have never considered Abercrombie or AE because I’ve always been too big for their store. Maybe I need to go back.
Hollidy Magadan i will always recommend American eagle to everyone definitely try them out!!!
Rainy Day thanks for your reply. This is so nice. Great job :) can you please share the app name?
AE jeans are the best, especially now that they have extra short online :)
Sarah Gaeta I think their online store’s sizing is off. I have a size 8 from them that is to tight and I am a 2 or 4 in their store jeans. That’s not the first time either

$12 Walmart jeggings are the best
I literally get $5 jeans from the thrift store lol
Or JCP jeans buy one $20 get one for a penny. lol shopping for jeans is my kryptonite! Partly because any good stores are over 2 hrs away. It's a whole day trip and I'm lucky if I come home with two pairs. 😭 👖
I love boot cut target jeans
Omg yessss I flipping love Walmart close and I fell like that they don’t get to much street cred but like fo real Walmart close are fire
Well she did literally say a true size 12, basically setting herself as a standard 12. Im an 8, and a lot thinner so yeah to me it seems weird.
Natasha Bergstrom an 8 is 2 sizes smaller so that makes sense
Not 36, I think 40.
I noticed that while shopping at H&M and it confused me
actually european 44-46
@@elenavalkeriye Yeah. 36 is S. 32/34 are the smallest they sell at HM here in Norway (not including the "curvy" clothing line) and 42-44 the biggest. I have pants from HM that are size S and then size L, so I think they're confused... or maybe I'm confused. I actually think they have a 'teen' clothing line (without calling it that) with smaller sized clothing, and then the 'regular' size for adult is one size larger, or something. When I was in Germany, the clothes that said S were actually M, and in France a M is an S. It's confusing as hell.
@@theresevontodderud3901 sizing is weird af everyhwere. here the biggest in hm would be 46 i think. Maybe 44, i am not sure
I'm a size 12 and I only wear American Eagle. Literally the best jeans I have
Robyn Stephens yeah same!
I totally suggest trying out the Dream Jean's we have now! They're literally the best pair of Jean's I've ever owned and honestly the only ones I ever wear now despite the couple other pairs I own 😂😂
I own about 14 pair of AE jeans, I love them that much! 😁😁
Saaameee
Can I just say that you’re absolutely gorgeous Robyn!!! ❤️
K the iiii
they stay in tact for a long time too!! really amazing jeans
So interesting that in a body positive video nearly all the comments are critiquing her body 🙄 we’ve still got a lot of work to do in lifting each other up.
Crystal Caffrey okay theres barely anyyy people critiquing her body so calm down
Brianna Brietzke agreed. I literally have not seen any
Brianna Brietzke me niether. This person is just making this up for likes
or the negative comments were more prevalent 6 months ago when they commented? the first reply was 2 months ago. last I watched this video, I found a plethora of hate comments - so, no, not lying at all. ya’ll just came late.
i don’t understand why you sized down in hollister when you should’ve sized up?😂😂you knew they catered to teens.
No literally the point of this video is that a size 12 in hollister isn't a size 12 somewhere else... whoooosh
sammy davis but she sized down?? they’re catered for TEENS not adults. so to be fair a size 13 in hollister is the equivalent to a size 12 in women’s.
@@cindya0212 totally agree
EXACTLY
@@anthamay she grabbed a size 11 though, not a 12. she would have had to take a 13 instead (because they dont have a 12 in that store)
I’m only 5 minutes in but Hollister’s jeans run so small. I am usually a size 6 in jeans and I had to size up to 11 and that was still snug.
that's so weird because I usually wear a size 7 and their jeans fit me perfectly!
I find that my normal size fits with them, but I don't like the style of hollister, imo it's quite an ugly clothing line.
Ashley ASHLEYM personally I love their jeans! The only jeans I will wear are from Hollister
Richa Shah same. The rest of their clothes are ehh but I love their jeans!!
really?? im confused because i wear a size 0 there and size 2-4 everywhere else
Awesome vid but why did you size down in Hollister? I go to hollister a lot (I’m in highschool) and like you said, they are mainly for teens. Wouldn’t it make more sense to size up?
Yeah I didn’t get that lol
The whole video was her trying on her true size 12 in all stores to see the difference in size 12
Pellinor I’m pretty sure she was aware of that but she was just trying on different size 12s in different stores
@@franciscabarcenas7163 I know but if they didn't have even numbers and she had to pick between 11 and 13, 13 is closer to a regular 12.
Someone said 11 is closer to 12
Rewatching this vid because it always makes me smile.
The Good American jeans looked amazing on you but the GAP ones were also comparable in my opinion especially considering the price:)
Katie Dominie completely agree!!
Same, I love the AE jeggings, especially because they have different lengths! I’m 5’8 so regular lengths look kinda awkward on me
Julia Homola it’s funny because I’m only an inch taller than you and the Regular length hits me just right!
Xoxo
they carry short, regular, long and extra long in-store at my ae ❤️ greatly appreciate them
You have to get those Good American jeans, they looked amazing, you deserve to treat yourself 😂 but there’s a 30-60% sale on their website rn !!
Kelvinkat321 Their jeans are the best! I bought a pair a little over a year ago and ended up selling all of my other jeans and now I only wear GA 😂
In 54 and LOVE ❤️ ALL YOUR VIDEOS! you have actually helped me be more forgiving of my body as I wear a 12 also thanks
Omg I also had a breakdown in a Hollister dressing room when I was a teenager! I wonder how many of us have shared this memory lol.
Carly Suplita same. Between the lighting and the tiny sizing you’d think they want you to hate yourself. Now I’m an adult and realize my body was fine. I just didn’t realize you’re set up to fail in that store at the time.
That was me last week lol
Abercrombie jeans are now different material and they are a must! They are sorta like American eagle jeans😊 Im 16 and I am a size 12 and I used to hate Abercrombie jeans because they wouldn’t fit true to size and this year I decide to try them again and it was a success🤞🏻
I ordered from H&M online and there was a flyer that said they were changing their sizing "to better reflect customer feedback" or something like that- their shifting one size up. You're not the only one who thinks their sizings wack!
I bought a jacket at h and m and I’m now a size smaller! Size 8! I only nocticed the tag saying they changed there sizing cuz I had to size down 3 times!
this made me cry so much because the story of having a breakdown in a dressing room was way too relatable!
So many angry and judgmental comments 😞 You're beautiful and this was a great video! Inconsistent sizing is definitely an annoying part of shopping.
I like a thick woman
Please go back and get those Good American jeans, they looked insane on you!
I also had the jean break down too
The Teletubbies everyone has
A 12 is equivalent to a 13 in hollister!
Agreed!!!
Isabella McCormick 15* my sister works there
do they always run big?
i meant small
Yep
Sierra, I have no other social media to contact you through so I hope you see this. You should really block the user Destiny peron from your channel if you can. She’s nothing but a negative troll and is bringing so many people down. I wrote a very heart felt comment and she keeps destroying everyone in the comments. It’s awful! I didn’t know how else to reach out so I hope you see this :) happy holidays !! ❤️❤️
Hakim Smailliw lollllllll
Wow this bitch lmao 😂
Genesis Gomez what did I miss?!
Seriously. You do ❤️🥰
Omg girl ur not alone on the hollister breakdown thingy. I ALWAYS leave the store crying 😂
IKR GIRL!!!
CliffordTheVulture aww
CliffordTheVulture I’m a teen and I’m her size and I range from a 9 to a 13 in there.
Me too! If it fits - it works! :)
Jolie Patterson no, she’s not. But, I think she did it well!
Im rectangle- ish too and its so hard to find a good pair!
@Jolie Patterson i don't watch a lot of fashion/beauty videos other than her and safiya nygaard so this is one of the first videos I saw on this topic
The Hollister story was so heartwarming thank you for sharing a being a great role model 💖💖💖💖
Buy the Good American jeans!! I’d rather have 1 item I love that makes me feel like a Goddess than 4 items that fail me!! 💎🤩
I recently bought a couple pairs of Good American Jeans from hautelook! Definitely be on the lookout because I got them at about half off!
Leah Janae Nordstrom Rack puts them on clearance all the time too! You can get them for good deals there.
I remember trying on a 10 at H&M and it didn't even button up all the way. That's how I found out about their sketchy sizing.
I always figured that H&M had European sizing. I'm a 0 normally but at H&M I'm a 6 🤷♀️
They have smaller sizes everywhere. I'm from Finland and my size is usually a 36 (6 in US size) but in H&M I always have to go for 40 or 42. (10 or 12 in US)
I don’t even go there
Sarah Fletcher I heard about the European sizing thing... but usually you would expect to see multiple size listings on a tag in that circumstance.
XxKaylaxX X I swear I have an item of clothing in every single size from Rue 21 😂
Im having such a positive experience watching all ypur videos. I know you probably wont see this as this video is 7 months old but that story about being in the change room going back to school shopping with your mum and just loosing it because nothing fits... It's so good to know we aren't alone. And it's good to see some companies are changing their tune and putting real sizes out there 😊
American Eagle makes the best jeans in the world, honestly their size range is so big and they have so many styles I think everyone should own a pair.
yes! and they’re on sale rn!!
Not related, but your profile pic looks like bellingham, wa!
FYI: for teen/Junior sizes, you should go up a number(13) not down a number(11) from a lady/misses size(12)
Jlyn D that’s what I was thinking? Why did she just trythe size 13? That’s what I wear. I love hollister jeans I’ve been wearing them since I was 13. From size 00 when I was 13 to size 13 now at the age of 24.
ditto! just double checked the size chart it says a 13 is their 31” waist. i love their jeans and i wear a size 15 (their largest size).
Yes exactly. I’m a size 8 in ladies but a 9 in juniors. A size 7 in juniors is WAY too small for me.
I'm a 14 in ladies, but a 17! In Hollister... F-that.
That’s what I thought too.
I love how your not afraid to express your body type you are a great role model for girls everywhere

Oh god I love old navy super skinny rockstar fit. High waisted, stretch, and they are the best
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your life!
Those prices.... no thanks. Literally can’t afford a pair of jeans anymore lmao.
TJ Maxx is my jam for jeans! Ive found brand name for $17!
It's a boutique price. Some people are okay with those prices and if that's the case let them shop there.
