All shells are nearby the starting area, all weapons are obtained through a mini boss which is very forgiving and respawns you at the fight, losing nothing. There is a merchant at the top of fulgrim. Bells give you a time of extra tar, use them when you are comfortable and find a good farming location for yourself. Don’t waste time trying to level up and farming glimpses. The glimpse farming comes after killing your first major boss (finishing 1 of 3 dungeons). And maxing a weapon can be as fast as you like, 5000 tar and a bit of exploring will grant you all the materials you need.
A funny little thing I noticed is that apparently the monsters in Mortal Shell HATE the lute. when you get near enough to enemies so that they notice you (but don't attack yet) and they make all these threatening gestures and such, and then you play the lute it's like all hell breaks loose and every enemy just remotely near will immediately try to kill you
@@Furzkampfbomber I know this is like 7 months old, and you likely know this, but for anyone else reading this who doesn't, playing the lute near the lute-playing enemies will cause them to jam with you, and they won't attack you at all until you attack them, or attack another enemy close to them.
Here's some amazing tips: -When you learn to parry you'll become 5 times stronger than without parrying. -Soloman is the best for parrying, mostly because he has a lot of resolve compared to the other characters and he is the strongest most balanced character. He has maximum amount of resolve, has a good amount of health and stamina. I recommend him and the hammer and chisel for really fast and strong attacks and when you combine harden and parry you'll be invincible with him. -Having one of the R1 and L1 attacks with the hammer and chisel will get you insane amount of Damage because you can spam your attacks and before an enemy or boss attacks you harden and proceed to finish all of your stamina and before they hit you again you hit them with R1 and L1 attack which will turn you invincible and will give you insane damage. I've reached 600-700 damage just through that small tactic which easily destroys bosses. I recommend the first hammer and chisel R1 L1 attack (Blade Tornado) because the other one is for long distance. -Do not rush and study the movements and the attacks of the characters by dodging or hardening when they are attacking. This way it will be easier to learn when to parry. -Knowing the locations of all of the mushrooms in the main map ( area where you do not have to enter through a door that puts you in a loading screen) will make farming a lot easier and less of a waste of time to wait 5+ min for it to regenerate. -Watch youtube videos on the combos of your preferred weapon because you'll be able to do a lot more damage. -Even if Hammer and Chisel is a close range weapon you can still damage multiple enemies if they are bunch together, add a little fast attack and you're a killing machine. -Before picking one of the 3 sacred glands make sure to have a lot of healing mushrooms because those extra enemies will be troublesome if you run out of heals. -You can always avoid enemies because they won't be able to catch you and damage you if you run and dodge. -Become familiar with all 4 shells before spending glimpses to upgrade them -Glimpses do not transfer between shells. So play with the one that suits you the most -Use heavy attacks when starting a fight cause those enemies that are chilling on the ground will take some time to stand up and attack you. Preferably heavy, light light. -Using parry and attack is recommended to get easy health against easy enemies
Wow, funny how ppl play completely differently. I rarely ever used parry. Instead, sticking to the harden mechanic. Which is why for me, Harros the starting shell was the best IMO. And I kept hollow sword since it was just a well rounded weapon. With his abilities, harden comes back faster, makes me invulnerable longer, and regenerates my stamina.
@@karenamyx2205 that’s true, I’m generally more an agility/ fast attacks guy when it comes to games like this. I decided to not go for the shell that had the most stamina because I was a huge opportunity with the parrying especially when you learn how to use it well and parry enemies easily. Soloman also had a decent amount of stamina but it was mostly the resolve that I liked. Not only can you parry like crazy but you only get health back if you decided to choose the heal thing instead of explosion or freeze. I haven’t played the game since I made that tips and trick comment since I finished it but I’m sure it would be easy for me to come back
Hi, thx for your video. My tips: -Use weapon's special attack, this gives you , and on one of the shells it can heal you up. -Even if a foe dies you can keep on attacking his dead body, that increases resolve, even if it's dead. -Opening fight with heavy attacks, since most of enemies aren't agressif, and slowly you will know when to use harden, and special attacks in order, to keep fighting safely even when you're surrounded by many enemies, and the same for boss fights, you can handle them easily if you're familiar with the shell, the abilities and when to use them in the right time.
Just got the game with PS+. Spent the first 9 hours obtaining all weapons and shells, making exploration and trying to farm a Little. Took me two hours only to Kill Grisha with the first shell and no upgrades lol. Now I'm ready to kick asses! You do NOT have to defeat Greshma or whatever it's called in the cave to get the item in the chest. You can just lure it away from the chest then run to the chest and take the item. No beating boss required.

@@evis8022 maybe you can be disappointed, because Mortal Shell has an Amazing gameplay, graphics and camera if you compare It to Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne...
Is there a such thing as best shell? They are just different play styles, not necessarily superior to one another. I like the starting shell. His abilities make the harden ability cooldown faster, it makes you invulnerable even after enemies break it, and it hyper regenerates your stamina. Worked great for me. I even stuck with the hallow sword, good mix of speed and power, decent stamina usage, and has a nice ability. The "dexterity" shell interests me, it's the type of character I would usually play in souls games, but I'm just too bad at parrying.
If you have 0 yellow bars a parry will give you one and stun the enemy. Also there are "jumpers" human eating monsters like the one near the shell, you cannot parry their jump and they have either knockdown or bite jump both very bad for you. They sometimes drop a piece of tar that expels you from your shell like if you were killed, it took a while for me to notice that: 1) It doesn't consume your "second chance" charge. 2) It can be used as a heal because when you re enter the shell it's back at full hp. 3) If you get hit when consuming that item it activates instantly so you don't actually die from enemy attack and it saves your "second chance" charge. 4) When using upgraded Solomon it freezes enemies for longer almost like a little pause mid fight to reposition yourself. Also if you want to farm glimpses, after completing the first temple and bringing back a gland you will have a dude with a lantern, he will call the "fog mode" for 1 glimpse and make it go away for another 1. His dialogue gives a hint but I only understood it after reading an article about this, the fog mode replaces all mobs with jumpers but also summons two Grisha in two locations (google it) each Grisha always gives you 6 glimpses. Had I known that I would be maxed out for the second temple. Also if you have the dude with a lantern you can call the fog and go to all the temples and the nearest frog chests will have the items to teleport the weapon to you. Also there are more stairs on that castle, stairs outside near the bell lead to a trader with infinite ballista bolts, fried rats, and 1 set of tools. Whe you buy a set of tools you can unlock a ballistazooka on the anvil, don't worry the seal and ballistazooka upgrades are independent of the weapon you hold. So I guess you know why you want the bolts, as for the rats - they consume resolve to heal same amount as mushrooms, but unlike mushrooms can be bought in big amounts. Also "harden in the air" upgrade is garbage, but if you fully upgrade a shell you will gain acces to trading with Sestra, a golden mask will give you the ability to travel to any unlocked Sester and pause the game. When you speak with Sester to upgrade she also has a travel option to teleport between unlocked Sesters, I'm deeply upset that I didn't notice it because of the very gray text.
Tip: if you’re low on health and Sester genesa is nearby go to her and sip of the Devine jar you don’t need to upgrade anything but you’re health will be restored. Be warned if you do this al enemies will respawn
