- Garrett is a Biological Science Tech at the USDA ARS lab in Baton Rouge, LA. This is a conversation of Garrett and Cory needing out on bees, covering a variety of topics with advanced bee breeding. Cory and Garrett discuss bee breeding, instrumental insemination of honey bee queens, and VSH selection. Garrett gives excellent updates on the Hilo breeding project the USDA is working on with commercial beekeepers in Hawaii.

Another great video, Cory. I particularly appreciated the discussion about the distinction between traits and stocks at the beginning and the long discussion near the end clarifying the differences between general hygienic behavior and VSH followed by the discussion concerning host resistance and it's implications for bee improvement.

love these long talks, I've been watching what's been happening down in Baton Rouge for years since Harbo and Harris. Our local club has been bringing in a VSH breeder queen for a few years now and getting virgin VSH queens out to the members.

after covid it's been hard to get back up and running, hopefully we can get the our conference going in the spring, maybe Cory will pay us a visit since we are trying to do our little part with VSH

Lol! I don’t think he’s done many recordings that I’ve found.
Cory has crossed the Pol-line 2.2 genetics with his own High tested VSH genetics recently, I'm curious to what will result. I'd love have a mated queen from this to dedicate to a drone producer colony to flood my zone drones, I have mutt bees and catch feral swarms, I don't have any beekeepers whitin 5 miles of my bees.
