Go with your heart, ask of many prayers, but remember...basing an income on what if's and maybe's is risky. Hopefully your wife has a good job and insurance.
Congratulations Cory! 🎉 it’s my privilege to have gotten the opportunity to not only work with you but to remain friends. You’re a great example of what God will provide when you keep faith and family in the forefront. I am gonna get pickles again one day. 🐝
Congrats! This is all possible since you were faithful in the little things so you will be given bigger and better responsibilities. Go for it and enjoy the journey.
So excited for you Cory, and all my best in this exciting endeavor! Can't wait to see more successes headed your way! Thanks for all your Bee contributions.
You will make it, because you own it 110%! Lots of hard work ahead but, lots of satisfaction too. Don't forget you are doing this for you and your family, so make sure to set aside time for them and yourself. Best wishes on this journey of a lifetime and may GOD Bless you, your family and your business.
I'm at 17 years in my career and am LOVING keeping bees. I think about leaving every day right now. I am thinking if I can get the house paid off (4 years), keep expanding apiary/learning, maybe I can make the jump in 5-10 years.
Congrats Corey, Hope the first season as a full time beekeeper goes well for you! You will ace it I’m sure and I look forward to following your journey along with your many supporters.
Wishing you all the best Corey! It’s going on 3 years since I pulled the plug on a full time job to see what I can accomplish on my own. No better feeling!
Congratulations Cory!🎉🎉 I think there are too many people who are married to a FT job that isn’t their passion and are less productive and more stressed. Their friends and family say “don’t quit your day job for those bees, you could lose everything”. But I say “what is everything?” If one loses their soul and mind every day for the perception of stability. How is that a good thing. One thing I learned being a beekeeper is we are resourceful and problem solvers. It won’t be a guaranteed paycheck every two weeks but it will be a sweeter reward for the mind and soul. Best of luck to you Cory. You got this! Maybe one day I’ll join you and hit send.
I was a commercial scallop fisherman since 1998, 25 years last March. Captain of my own boat. Graduated high school and assembled my first boat at 18 and went fishin. Last May, I finally gave up scalloping and went full-time with bees. I started in 2018 and have 300 full size colonies and 150 nucs for this year's growth. I have never been so nervous about winter losses this winter, and I treat for mites. I I can't imagine being you, and I also kept my scallop license if I ever needed something to fall back on. I hope this works out for both of us, and good luck with your new career.
Ive been in that situation myself! 13 years working for the local authority. A nice little job. Change is hard and I struggled with after the first couple of months after leaving because I was so used to being an employee. That mindset is engrained in you from school! Its a hard thing to rewire your brain! But honestly its the best thing I've done in my life. Our business has continued to grow and now we're looking for a forth member to join our team. (me and my wife being 2) You'll do great and you'll look back at this and think im so glad I did that! You will achieve so much now with all your energy on it. You can never grow anything when your one foot in and one foot out. Thats just dabbling. Commit and turn Pro! 😊💪
Ha That was a real nice letter I wish u well. I just retired myself I do not have a bee business, I do have 40 hives and at this point. I do not think I want any more. I do hope it works out well for u.
Cory, you know as well as I do that it is your time to shine. As the head of your family, I know you have a lot of weight on your shoulders and are probably sweating bullets right now. Just know that you are in good hands with your provider and your Lord. Go into this new journey with your head held high and your wife by your side. IT WILL ALL WORK OUT! As your friend, I have the utmost confidence in you. Do your thing my friend! -Tom
Congratulations Cory. You're a brave guy and I appreciate how much stress you must be experiencing. God willing, in a year you'll look back on this decision as one you should have made sooner 😊. If you're ever in Ontario with or without your family it would be an honor to buy you lunch. God bless you and the bees.
From your friends in Rhode island we behind u 100% ill be puting my order in as soon as I know u got queen ready one day we all guna die but what we leave behind will be better then we found it with a little hard work and love will get their
Some advice from someone who had their own business for eight years. Get a great accountant, the government will try to take everything that you earn. Have someone for accounts payable and receivable or have others on the payroll to perform the work. You can’t do both. The hardest thing for me was getting paid, big companies have a 60-180 day payout. I made big checks but had to pay my vendors within 30 days usually. The myth is that the owner makes a fortune and spends all of the profit on luxuries, the reality it that the national average on profit is around 15% and most of that has to be reinvested into the company. Every business owner that I’ve ever saw that thought that they were rich in the first few years failed. Big money may come in but a business owner has to establish the business first or the business will fail. I’m not even going to get into off time, there won’t be much off time as others have stated already.
I'm sure it's a bitter sweet leaving the people you have worked with and also a little scary. But this is what you've worked so hard to accomplish. Congratulations!
Congratulations! It’s a big, scary step but if you hadn’t done it you would be regretting it the rest of your life and thinking “what if…”. Now get out there and work those bees!
I would have to say you did what a lot of beekeepers dream of being able to do. I'm excited to see how and where things go for you as a full time queen breeder.
Scariest & most exciting move you can make. I know, I did that 15 years ago to start my own business. Like I tell our kids, you cant get to where you want to be by staying comfortably where you are. Good luck man!
Proud for you brother!! Bigger things are going to happen. You know I support you in your path and if you ever need anything I'm a phone call away good luck little brother!! And God bless.
It's a scary feeling, I resigned from a "dream job" just over 5 years ago. I was just praying it through, that if I wasn't supposed to that He'd stop me. It was part of relocation plan for my family. I didn't trust the pention to be there for me when I needed it, so I turned it into 80 acres in Missouri. Zero regrets! You're going to do fine! Enjoy full-time bees!
Congratulations to you Cory on a job well done as well as on the foundations laid for a successful and fruitful future. You have built a network of strong support network of friendships and acquaintances in the bee industry that will serve you well. I look forward to working with you in the future, let me know if I can help in any way! Jim Kiefer, Perryville
I am so happy for you. You will have the time to devote to your business, and you will accomplish great things. I believe that this is the best decision that you have ever made. You are going to make a big mark in the beekeeping industry.

Congratulations Cory. Big step. I felt the same feeling when I left active duty military .. the leap is huge .. but what awaits you on the other side is mostly up to you .. I think you are in a good place to excel. I hope to collaborate with you one day on queens. I am here in Zone 9B ..starting to record it all on UA-cam also. Proud of you. @chuckshoneybees.
Supporting you all the way Cory! Well done! Never regret anything in life! Youve burnt no bridges and You’ve got a great future now you believe you can do it!! 🙌🫶💪🏻🐝🐝🐝

Hanging out with a bunch of girls.... any day!!! Great choice
Running your own business is way more difficult (longer hrs. etc.) but way more enjoyable and rewarding. Wish you the best of luck.
Absolutely! My wife says I hate relaxation, so it’ll be a great fit!
Go with your heart, ask of many prayers, but remember...basing an income on what if's and maybe's is risky. Hopefully your wife has a good job and insurance.
Congratulations Cory!! You’ll do great doing bees full time! 🐝 I bee-lieve in you!! 🤗
