Angel and Spider were pure devils, not fiends. Fiends have the characteristic head, while devils are the ones that they said if they look more human they are usually less aggressive towards humans.
Or if they look like a puppy and that's canon, change my mind
I love the show and manga but some things seem inconsistent with plot holes. Like the spider devil should be one of the strongest devils out there considering that there are billions that fear spiders. Heck I would argue the fear of spiders is bigger than the fear of guns even. But it is fiction and I should not read too much into it I guess.
@@jonesjeremiah agreed lol
@@jonesjeremiahspider is a fiend though
@@jonesjeremiah not really. I think I read this in some of the Reddit thread. I do agree with spider used to be a fear in the past, but the fear scale in CSM come down to how the fear come out of people when they encounter it. Alot of ppl when encounter spider would not hesitate to smash it.
I always think the reason Himeno's sister gave the letters is to show Aki that Himeno really wants him to quit.
Aki probably doesn't really care about it before and just brush it of because he really dead set on his goal.
Himeno's sister just wants to tell him that Himeno really care about him.
True, but goes deeper than that.
Sam was right about being a callback to Himeno receiving a slap from a dead hunter's partner. Aki is basically being told that she could've avoided Himeno's death if he'd followed through with Himeno's plans to quit.
He feels incredibly shocked and guilty, obviously, but he's also consumed by vengeance, he wants to kill the Gun devil and now Katana man and Akane too.
Aki knows he SHOULD quit, better late than never, but at the same time, feels like quitting would make his family's and Himeno's death "pointless", so he pushes onwards and pursuits vengeance but now it's for his new family.
@@alastorcorvus but it wouldn’t make himeno’s death pointless cause the whole point for her sacrifice was for Aki to continue living not to keep risking his life as a devil hunter. So technically he already has made her death pointless
@@zigsteenine8650 the way I see it, Himeno sacrificed herself because she didn't want to see another one of her partners die. She saw him use the nail sword, so she knew Aki would at least have enough time left to grieve for her.
21:24 In the actual translation, The Future Devil actually says that Aki will die in the worst possible way.
I believe Crunchyroll updated the subtitles to say “fucking worst” now
@@Mark_Marky_ yeah they did now
I spotted that immediately even as someone who can't understand japanese fully and still has to use subtitles. When i read "fucking rule" it didn't match the actual spoken word. But the words are quite similar so i'm sure crunchyroll slipped up and mistranslated that. That's what happens when you have to translate stuff right away. At least it's good they corrected it.
@@Mark_Marky_ i just watched it and they still haven't fixed it lol 😔
The Dub had that exact translation so it makes a lot of sense
About the Violence Fiend: Kishibe said the mask he wears constantly emits a poison that's more or less meant to keep him under control. That's why the mask stays on him, no matter what. Makes sense, since the last thing they need is a literal embodiment of violence running around raising hell, yeah? 😅
The scene where Makima kills the dudes who were about to shoot Aki is entirely original to the anime. Sawatari’s nosebleed is more clearly implied to be the cost of making the Snake spit out the Ghost in the manga.
Yeah although aki didn’t look afraid , looked like he thought he could dodge them. Also if you notice everyone that makima gave a nose bleed to was bleeding out of their right nostril while the girl was bleeding out of her left
@x 🪐 no he didn't, he literally said in an interview that he would let the directors do their thing, because Fujimoto said he doesn't know shit about making an anime.
@abura2980 mappa did say they are working closely with him, he doesn't need to make the anime with them, but he surely gives his thoughts to them and makes some changes in some scenes, like how isayam does with aot
@@abura2980 Does it in the manga explain why Makima didnt need sacrifices like she did the with prisoners? If it does get explained in the future then dont spoil me, but my theory was that since more people were afraid of makima, cause i think she's a devil, that she gotten stronger to the point where she no longer needed sacrifices to kill from a distance.
@@justinr1513 Nope, that power never gets explained and she only uses it once in the manga.
I love how Violence seems to be a pretty chill dude
Only because his mask is pumping him full of gas to keep him under control, without it he's uncontrollable. 15:56
@@OnerousMoist its gonna be kinda spoiler so dont read this if u dont wanna get spoiled about violence, he is just chill like that. because when he died his brain wasnt that much damaged and his human side is in the control mostly because of that. he still remember his memories when he was a human. also there is an another theory that he might be arai. ending of this episode kinda referenced to that theory.
he makes it looks to easy
The Curse Devil's Sword is more like a nail rather than the actual sword. Just like when you're cursing someone with a voodoo doll by using nails. He stabs the enemy with the sword rather than slicing them.
Aka a “piercing sword” (which is still a type of sword)
That's correct , it motifed from Japanese curse of nails and a doll made by straw.
Now that we have several characters belonging to each category, this seems like a decent point to clarify the survivability of these different categories in the show (based only on information we know so far) because I find that when the line in shows between a permanently killing blow and just something that characters can recover from is unclear, it can cause some misunderstanding. Just going to reiterate some points from last episode as well as other previous episodes. We have:
1. Whatever Denji (and the sword guy) is (which really has no name, the fandom calls them "Hybrids"): technically immortal. "Technically" because they do die when... dying, but pretty much get revived when their trigger is activated (chainsaw rip cord being pulled after Denji was shot in the head by sword guy). Some of the "killing blows" we have seen Denji survive so far: getting his neck twisted around, getting stabbed through the head, being shot multiple times, literally being cut in half.
2. Devils: (Angel, Spider, Bat, Leech, Eternity, etc.) can take a reasonable amount of damage, but can be killed after being decently ripped apart (think Bat devil). Devils can also heal from blood, as seen by the Bat devil in episode 3
3. Fiends: (Power (Blood Fiend), Shark Fiend, Violence Fiend, Fiend from episode 2 that Denji kills) very high survivability, but not immortal, as Aki stated in episode 2, they will die permanently if their heads are cut off. They are able to heal from other wounds with blood.
4. Humans: This is no JJK, regular humans do not have any reinforcement techniques, however, the only bit we get is when snake girl says the devil hunters' suits are sturdy, so they can take a bit of a hit. A gun shot to the head is fatal (Clearly).
Just something to keep in mind because these types of "immunity" can artificially lower the stakes in shows I find.
analysis is on point
The anime calls Chainsaw Man and Katana Man "hybrids", the fandom calls them that but sometimes calls them (spoiler alert because I don't remember if they're called that in the manga) "devilmen"
@@gabe_ed I think you're mixing something up. Some translations of the manga call fiends devilmen.
Question from anime-only fan, Sawatari said to sword guy not to harm Denji's heart, does that imply destroying his heart would kill him or is his heart just valuable to them so they wanted it intact.
In case you didn't know, you girls reacted to this when it was still badly translated, it's now Fixed, the Future Devil said Aki was gonna die in the worst way possible
Aki: B-but you said that my death will fucking rule?
Future: Sorry dawg, that was a translation error
@@caelestisimperator9829 😆😆😆
Aww, honestly I kinda liked the old subtitles. A devil would totally think that horror rules.
@@zanthe_ yeah until you realize what the twist of the line was at the end
@@zanthe_what shay said, and we can’t tell you. Massive spoilers. Probably payoff in season 3 though.
The translation error is NOW fixed, but the Future Devil actually said, "You will die the worst way possible." It is important to know this line and not the error as it affects dialog.
I do agree with fixing it but I almost like it better the first way lol like yeah it's gonna be a horrible death but to the devil that probably fckin rules getting to watch it.
@@JewJitSuSixty9 My thoughts exactly, I think its easier to understand with the fix but its a good detail to think of it from the devil's perspective
I mean when you consider the fact that they mentioned that Devils get off on human fear/suffering, the Future devil saying "Your death will fucking rule", it makes sense it means it in a way where it will rule for the Devil, but will be terrible for Aki.
@@JewJitSuSixty9 most reactors didn't have much reaction to it
I guarantee that if he said you will die in the worst possible way more people would have been traumatized
@@JewJitSuSixty9the issue is the exact line gets called back to and it has to say “the worst possible way” or else it won’t make sense in context for that scene
I'm so upset that the wrong translation was used for what the future devil says
Because he doesn't say, Aki's death will rule
He says he will die in the worst way possible
They fixed it
Apparently they fixed it and it says his death will suck now. Unfortunate that so many people got the wrong impression before the change.
I think it’s fine, how else would a devil describe a horrific demise?
The ending for this episode has basically confirmed a long running fan theory that the Violence Fiend was actually made from the corpse of Arai after he was assassinated trying to protect Kobeni. Notice how when it shows Denji, Power, Himeno, Kobeni, and Aki, the Violence Fiend is also there in the place where Arai should've been.
They say don't take off the mask cuz he needs to be nerfed, but I wonder if it's just to hide his identity 🤔
@@Violette--- Nah it's definitely to nerf him
@@Violette---no it’s to nerf him lmao
@@Violette--- I support this theory (very minor spoilers) after seeing him maskless in the manga it's very obviously Arai. I think it's more likely a combination of both though.

Ghost devil might've made contract with Snake girl
Reminder : Devils don't care.... they'll make contracts with anyone as long as they benefit from it
Ghost devil doesn't care it's Aki (It's last contract bearer's friend)
Nope, Sawatari's snake is a powerful low cost devil contract that allows the user to control the Devils the Snake swallows after they're spit out at the cost of a fingernail and nosebleed.
It can swallow something at the cost of 4 fingernails (pretty sure it's 4), spit it out for 1 fingernail and a nosebleed, and summon the tail for 1 fingernail.
@@dom4012 oh alright
@@dom4012 so like, this is a theory? there is no definitive information so please dont say it like it is? we dont know what exactly the costs and details of the snake devils abilities so dont say this like its a objective fact when you are guessing, its not a bad one but it is not concrete information
@@slysamable I read the manga, it's not a theory or a guess it's a literal fact. Unless you read the manga don't discredit me, but you clearly haven't.
fun theory: the violence fiend is possessing Arai's body. In summary without going into spoilers, in the opening at the time of the cinema, Violence is the only thing missing but Arai is there, in this ending (violence) everyone from the original group is there (Kobeny, Himeno, Power, Aki, Denji) only Arai that no and for some reason Violencia is among them.
I'm guessing that Makima's nosebleeding ability is nonlethal, more likely just knocking people out, and her ritual-sacrifice ability is very lethal. Also, the gas mask gives Violence poison gas in order to weaken him.
Aki loosely feels like another kurapika. He doesn’t care about dying for his revenge and he cares about his partners but at the end of the day he only wants to live for his cause and won’t be deterred by consequences
You guys should think about during the discussion just to in the background go through the episode to reread certain scenes just to avoid confusion.
Mads Mikkelsen isn't afraid to call Makima's bullshit.
You guys should watch “Jobeless reincarnation “ it’s fun and the animation’s movie level in every episode.
Mushoku tensei is lit
Doubt they'll get over all the ecchi senes
It’s sad that the translation really messed up the conversation between Aki and The Future devil tbh
They fixed it
it’s just your opinion that they “messed” it up. it’s different but it doesn’t really change the effect
@@Techstormzz it does actually. Because that line comes back in a pretty important way.
@@jermainejohnstone88 right it also immediately changes expectations within the same episode. So many "well he isn't dying here because this isn't awesome" comments. The author wanted to set the audience up for a reason so this shift did need to be fixed. Other events are set up based on the audience having a clear understanding of Aki's foreshadowed future.
@@Techstormzz it actually does, not only from Aki’s conclusion stand point but also people who’ve never read the manga will now be thinking Aki’s death is gonna be awesome and will ruin the moment of his actual death
You probably reacted to this before the correction but the reason the future devil gave such a bargain is because he says “your death in the future will be the fucking worst” rather that it will “fucking rule”. The mistranslation gave the other reactors the wrong impression of aki’s upcoming death so hopefully this clears that up
The sword Aki is using is not the Curse Devil’s sword: notice how he absolutely got three stabs on Ghost and nothing happened. It’s also a different style: Curse’s looked like a massive nail, while the new one is just a katana.
future devil supposed to say "you'll die in the worst possible way". The future devil said "Saiaku" When talking about akis death, which the translator probably thought he used "saiko" The word he used before repeatedly that means 'the best'. This is pretty significant for the story later. i think Crunchyroll already fixed it.
Yeah the script writer should have used the word saite instead of saiku. The “te” makes it much easier to distinguish it from Saiko
the translator must have had zero knowledge of the series then because that moment was pretty damn significant .
26:07. The Violence Fiend has to wear the mask to limit his power, the mask itself is constantly emitting a poisonous gas to purposely weaken him. Also Kishibe is pronounced “Kee-shee-bay”.
I'm anime watcher only so for sure not trying to spoil.
Sawatari said "Snake- Swallow It whole"
And the head was indeed not inside of it... So I'm guessing the important part like the heart of the Ghost Devil was eaten.... And them as a power of the Snake whatever demon It swallows it can spit It out as ally?
True. Every devil has an ability, Snake can summon devils which it has consumed.

I think Himeno's sister was trying to show Aki her sisters wish to make him quit. It's what Himeno would have wanted
Idk, I feel it was just to making him feel guilty because she was grieving and probably blaming him. It makes sense if you think about the scene of the girl slapping Himeno. This time the slapping was emotional and that probably hurts even more.
This whole first season has been about Makima and how tf she's able to do what she does...
That's pretty much the whole series tbh... until the end
Seeing everyone talking about how the future devils words were changed got me wondering why they thought it was a necessary change in the first place. I know the Future Devils characterization comes off as unique and funny especially in contrast to other devils and how they act. So I can only imagine they thought changing it to “ your future fucking rules “ is more in line with his oddity as a character. But I think they really missed the mark on why the original dialogue is so much better. Aki being told he will be “ dying in the worst possible way” after everything that’s just happened leaves such greater impression on the reader. Not only that it still characterizes the Future Devil perfectly, after seeing Aki’s future he laughs at Aki and teases him on if he wants to know how it’ll happen. Most devils just enjoy standard human suffering but the Future Devil enjoys seeing humans suffer mental torture.
There's no change between his line about Aki's death in the manga and in the anime, the translation was just wrong, he described Aki's death as "Saiaku" (the worst, disastrous, etc.) And they translated as "Saikou" (the best, awesome, etc.)
I’m definitely betting on “translators not getting enough budget/time to make a proper translation”. You think the translators will have time to read the actual manga? Probably not. 😢it’s sad. But in general I agree, translators shouldn’t try to be to clever if they haven’t read the story, risk is lack of context will trip them up.
@@tennoyamamoto1800 I just rewatched it at least the sub version I saw. “Your death in the future will fucking rule. “ I know Japanese kanji have numerous meanings depending on context. I just felt when reading it at least for myself with English being a first language, “ your gunna die in the worst possible way. “ comes off so much better. To me it’s the Devil being completely blunt and laughing at him.
@ yea most definitely, I don’t envy translators and they definitely get all the kudos from me. It’s not an easy job when a single kanji can have 10 meanings and there isn’t a 1 for 1 word that would encapsulate it. There’s are just sometimes a translation misses the mark so badly I personally it can actively harm the narrative. For example when kensei was calling out denji for getting his ass kicked all the time and he said he was “ weak sauce “. I chuckled cause he definitely comes off to me as someone that would never use the phrase. Especially since he considers himself an “ old man “That kinda stuff doesn’t bother me. The type that does is for example in hunterXhunter netero giving his final words to Merum before his death. “ … you have no idea about humanities limitless potential for evolution “ rather than “ you cant comprehend humanities limitless capacity for malice. “ it’s such an important line for the chimera ant arch and its themes. I genuinely think anyone who only saw that version of the English sub got robbed on a such a profound statement on the nature of humanity and they’ll never even know it. 😭
For Clarification since the subs are wrong for this part: The Future Devil in the manga and most of the other languages says that Aki will die in the "Most Horrible Way".
Alright, I wanna clear some stuff up but don't worry cuz it's not really a spoiler.
So a few things: the Future Devil's line of "your death will fucking rule" is not really a good translation which makes it seem like Aki will have an exciting and fun death, but in the manga the Future Devil was supposed to say that he 'will die in the "worst" possible way'. Also Aki's sword is different from the Curse Devil's sword, the sword he's using now is just a regular katana sword while the Curse Devil one was like a "nail" sword. And yes, the Snake girl's (Sawatari) nosebleed was indeed from her using the power too much.
Also the best boy Beam is now here! Great reaction too, so keep it up!
Dude did you not read any of the comments?? Like 200 other people have mentioned the future devils line. I’m a manga reader but I can tell you that no one that is an anime only gives af Jesus Christ let it go
The future devil actually said that he's going to die in the worst way possible, thats why he wants to watch from his eye, crunchyroll had a weird translation for that one
They did but they fixed it
19:06 i think the ppl that died were some of the ppl who had gotten guns and stuff from the gun devil; remember how she asked for those names from the Yakuza ?
It looks like the ghost devil is taking orders from the snake girl out of fear. Like we saw in episode 8 when the ghost devil didn’t want to fight snake girl
He has to have the mask on because hes dangerous without the poison mask because he's extremely strong.
there is a mistake in translation. When the futur demon say "your death in the futur will fucking rule" it's a translation error (made only with english subs for some reason) the most accurate meaing is "you'll die in the worst way possible"
This ep basically confirm the theory about violence fiend
What theory
@@gabe_ed the body of violence feind taken its belong to Arai after all
How on earth did this episode confirm that?
@@Scaring-Crows in the opening csm in theater scene you can see all the main cast except violence feind but in ending 11 we see again all the main cast but a little different arai was replaced my violence fiend after they show kobeni if you are manga reader just like me there's a plenty evidence to support this that's why a lot fans kept saying that body belong to Arai in s2 we can see his face reveal
@@capulijuaquin1492 I have read the manga, and I didn't notice that. I don't know if that's certainly confirmed but I think it's the biggest argument for the theory so far so that's cool
So yeah for the Violence Fiend, the one with the mask. He's particularly powerful, probably because he's the violence fiend, so they have the mask on him which constantly dispenses poisonous gas to weaken him, and he's considered dangerous enough to where the mask is never allowed to be removed.
please guys if you watching the anime read this, it seems a small thing but it's actually meaningful to the plot: The future devil didn't actually say Aki's death will rule/aka "will be exciting", the Future devil said that aki: "will die the most terrible way" /aka "it will be terrible". It's an error only from crunchyroll ENG sub, and whereas it seems they hold same meaning, here it won't.
not just the plot but the tone of it. The author wants the audience to feel a certain dread going forward and the mistranslation switched that anticipation to waiting for a hype moment.
The reason Himeno's sister gave Aki Himeno's letters was in order to show him how much Himeno cared for him. Whether she suspected that Himeno hadn't confessed her feelings or not doesn't really matter. At the very least, she might've decided that if she showed him the letters, he may rethink about quitting so as to fulfill Himeno's wish.
With only 2 years left to live, though, and the timing of it (after Himeno died), no chance.
"don't you remember Aki?"
implying devils actually care about humans lmao.
Man the whole translation error is just such a bummer in general, because people will correct it (justifiably), but for anime onlys who want to find out why such a small change even matters, will just end up spoiling themselves.
I was thinking it wasn't that Aki's death will "rule", but that it's the future devil's "favorite kind of death".
The future devil didn't say that Aki's death would be crazy. He said it would rule. And for a devil, a person being killed by the devil that was contracted with his recently dead partner and best friend might be the sort of death a devil would think "rules".
I'm not saying Aki dies here. I don't know. But i wouldn't exactly rule it out with the way this show has been going.
I wonder if there's a nuclear devil, and if it would be more powerful than gun devil. Or an extinction devil. Or who knows what would be considered the strongest devil based on fear.

20,000 yen is a really good deal for a gun and ammunition. In 1995 terms, that would have been about $200 which is less than half what you could buy a handgun in the US for at the time.
Is that means we should go to gun devil not Walmart ?
@@HD-ux5lg You can't buy handguns at Wal-Mart. Which is a shame.
It's generally beleived that an effect of the snake devil eating something is that its contractor cna control whatever it swallwoed, as we see the only price Sawatari suffers is a nosebleed from giving that order to spit it out rather than suffer anything from commanding the ghsot devil. (its alost msot likely not Makima doing anything, as that'd be super lame and anticlimactic to have one half of the big bad duo killed from afar super easy, plus she...didn't die so yeah)

Devil dont care about humans in general,
even if himeno had a contract with the ghost devil, the devil doesn't care about her or aki.
If a human makes a contract with a devil, that devil is not part of that human's "team", so much so that the same devil can make a contract with his enemy.
If you make a contract with a devil, it doesn't mean he will fight for you, contracts can be anything, but in general they lend some power in exchange for something.

I don't see why everyone is mad about the translation. To me "your death will be fucking awesome" doesn't sound like a good thing, and seems like it can also mean something really bad. He's a devil, of course the worst way would also be fucking awesome
Its because of a connection later down the story, it ruins it
Because its a mistranslation.
Good if it's ok for you but the fact that most people and reactors out there looks exited rather than terrified with it is already wrong, and after they know it most of them agree its changed the vibes because it supposed to be terrifying to hear. Because if its not specific words "your death will be the fucking worse" then something else later on will make no sense. Cant really say more without spoiling but theres a good reason people were that upset over 1 sentence.
