One of my favorite memories is my granddaughters dropping by one day while I had Led Zeppelin blaring from my speakers....I had to laugh when they stood there with mouths agape asking "who is that?" They have introduced their friends now. 😂😂
I'll turn 50 later this month born in 74. I spent most of my life listening to 60s and 70s rock but never paid attention to who sang which songs. About 5 or 6 years ago I decided to start listening to bands specifically to see which songs they did. When I got to Led Zeppelin every song I listened to was one I had grown up loving but never knew was done by them. That's how Led Zeppelin became my favorite band.
@@jamiepasquariello2652 I didn't really care who sang what. I just enjoyed listening to the music. It was on radio stations that played all 50's-70's rock.
I love everything about this song including the lyrics and Robert's delivery, but for some reason I'm so attracted to John Bonham's drumming on this. It's just the perfect drumming for this song - it has plenty of space in it but he's playing really really hard and doing some really interesting switch ups. And that snare roll into a fill at the end is just incredible.
John Bonham sang backup when they did this live. At the 2007 Celebration Day concert, Jason. Bonham covered his dad’s vocals. The other guys had such huge grins on their faces when that happened. Lots of emotions on that stage that night. .
Yes I totally prefer the studio versions of songs almost exclusively over any live. There are a couple of exceptions but do a live version after the studio first.
Love you both! I was just listening to another Zeppelin song, You Shook Me, and your video showed up. I checked your playlist and don't think you've reacted to it before. As you said, there's a Zepp song for every mood. This is very bluesy and goes way back to the 1960s. Hope you consider listening ❤
Great Song Great Band Didn’t Get To See Them Live but Was Lucky Enough to Have Seen The Page/Plant 2nd Tour Absolutely Amazing Concert Love Robert Plant’s Vocals on this Along with the Guitar & Bass Groovin’
Another highly recommended track from the same album is "The Battle Of Evermore". Robert Plant is joined by Sandy Denny, a voice-of-an-angel-class singer, on co-lead vocals. Another glorious example of Led Zeppelin's diverse range.
I saw Led Zeppelin live back in the day at Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Fla. and it is enjoyable watching younger people reacting to our rock god from back in the day!😎
Thanks for doing my pick! One of my all-time favorites and as someone else mentioned underrated for sure… You mentioned the layering, yes a lot of that and Jimmy Page was a master in the studio with overdubbing as well. There is quite a big difference between Led Zeppelin in the studio and live, mainly because Jimmy often overdubbed many guitars, as well as the other band members to create their vision of what they wanted us to hear on the album. But that could not be recreated live because Jimmy was the only guitarist. Which forced them to approach the songs in a different way plus of course they loved to improvise live as well. Great stuff! Thanks guys!
THANKS, ED! so glad you are bringing Zeppelin out on different channels Your back story is unbelievably cool! Went to see Jason and his band last year. They rocked out! I had such a good time dancing at my seat! 🤘. He’s such a personable cat in addition to being a GREAT drummer. You must have met them during Jimmy’s Outrider tour?
Here's a rundown: This is about a "love-in" near London that was broken up by the police. Robert Plant explained: "It's about a bunch of hippies getting busted, about the problems you can come across when you have a simple walk in the park on a nice sunny afternoon. In England it's understandable, because wherever you go to enjoy yourself, 'Big Brother' is not far behind." The Misty Mountains are in Wales. They are referred to in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Return Of The King. Plant is a big fan of Tolkien and used references to the Lord Of The Rings series from time to time. Led Zeppelin wrote and recorded this at Headley Grange, a mansion with a recording studio in Hampshire, England, where the band sometimes lived. Jimmy Page wrote the song one night while the rest of the band was sleeping. >> This begins with John Paul Jones playing electric piano. Robert Plant found himself drawn to Wales, and eventually settled in Worcestershire, England, near the Welsh border. "I missed the misty mountains - the wet Welsh climate," he told Rolling Stone in 2017. "I like weather people run away from."
The films of "The Hobbit" are a trilogy. And if you want to start a movie reaction channel YOU get to decide how often you react to a new film! Thanks for reacting to another one of LZ's fantastic songs!
Geeking out on the drums here: the hi-hat is unique in this song, he plays an accent where he closes the hi-hat, slamming the cymbals together and hits it with a stick at the same time (left foot and right hand come down together). You can hear the louder accent limp along in the phrase almost like an extra bass beat. It's almost like the opposite of the 'pss, pss' sound of the open hi-hat. Also the last drum fill, he hits every drum. I always crank that up as it fades.😅 This is a great song.
Loved the Ed Zeppelin back story. I wonder what Ed thinks about 'Dread Zeppelin'? Check out 'Dread Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven. The most unique tribute band ever! Cheers
The song is about Plant's disillusionment with the Hyde Park scene and how: "Folk down there really don't care Really don't care, don't care, really don't Which, which way the pressure lies So I've decided what I'm gonna do now So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains
Early 70's was the pinnacle of the British invasion. Uriah Heep, Foghat, Ten years after and Black Sabbath. But Zep was my favorite because Jimmy. If you want to hear some excellent guitar 🎸 , put your headphones 🎧 on for Eric Johnson, "Cliffs of Dover"
Now that you know Led Zeppelin well, it is time for you to discover Dread Zeppelin which is a reggae group that brings together the best of Led Zeppelin with the best of Elvis Presley. I suggest the video of “Heartbreaker” and "Black Dog" covered by Dread Zeppelin.
There is a new box set of remastered extended cut versions of the three films of Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" spread out over 6 blu-ray discs for easy consumption or marathon binge watching. Either way, most highly recommended. Very high quality sight and sound. Howard Shore's score for the soundtracks is nothing short of masterful.
The Hobbit was was published in 1937, the The Lord of the Rings is a sequel published in three parts between 1954 and 1956. The Hobbit is not a prequel.
Hi Bars & Barbells, Can you play pleaaaaaaase, some songs of The Chicago's and also The Spencer Davis Group. For the Spencer Davis Group my favorite one is Gimme Some Lovin U.S. version. There is a Britisch version but that one for me does not have the flair they made for the U.S. version. The same song u.s. version gimmi some lovin has also been played in films like Iron Eagle. To know what i am saying play both versions? On this platform you can find them. The best is/are is when you search it on vinyl. The Us version has some gospel in it also used in the film Iron Eagle wich is best.
Going to California is a song of theirs that has an actual reference from the Lord of the Rings. Listen to it and you will know what it is, but if you don’t listen to it then goblins will feast on your flesh…..and that would suck, so listen to the song 🤪
For shame Sam. The Hobbit is 3, 3, hour+, movies. The book, though, is much shorter than the Lord of the Rings books. They put a lot of extra stuff from the Similarian in the movies.

I love Led Zeppelin, but this is far and away my least favorite song by them. Sounds like the music was written first and then words were just thrown into it.
Robert Plant at the time of the recording of this album was heavily into Tolken and shares Samantha's love of that world... checkout The Battle of Evermore from same album and you will recognize the same themes... awesome tune...Plant unless i am mistaken got busted in San Fran for smoking a joint, re-read the lyrics 😉
Its really about a drugs bust in Hyde Park in London. LOTR is only referenced in the Misty Mountains line, but they also refer to the mountains in Wales so?
This has been my favorite Zep song for decades. Vastly underrated and rarely mentioned as one of their top songs
Absolutely!!!
This and Rock and Roll were two of their best RnR songs. Totally agree.
My very first favorite Zeppelin track. Heard it when I was 6 years old and it got me into drumming.
My favorite too😊
I remember the first time I listened to this and my first thought was this sounds weird and it's not for me but over time it did grow on me
One of my favorite memories is my granddaughters dropping by one day while I had Led Zeppelin blaring from my speakers....I had to laugh when they stood there with mouths agape asking "who is that?" They have introduced their friends now. 😂😂
Grand dad’s coolness at a high level.
Great story! I love it!
They are undeniable once you get them, I remember my first listen too

If you really want to hear Robert's love of Tolkien try 'Ramble On.'
There's absolutely nothing not to like. It's clearly one of their top 10!
The Mighty Led Zeppelin have approx 35 songs in their top 10!!! 😳 🤭 🤘😝🤘

They were inspired to write this song after attending a legalize Marijuana rally in Hyde Park, London. Year 1968

I just love Zeppelin!!!! JPJ and I are both born on Tolkiens birthday...Jan 3rd!
The " Layering " you are referring to, is the producing, thank you, Jimmy Page, who produced every Led Zeppelin album.
Glad you did the studio version. Live sounds amazing on anything from LZep, but their studio versions are near perfection.
Yes I totally prefer the studio versions of songs almost exclusively over any live. There are a couple of exceptions but do a live version after the studio first.
Like others have said, this is my favorite Led Zeppelin song.

one of my fave Zeppelin songs! You gotta check out their song - Houses of the Holy!
Such a banger as Phil would say 😂Try Achilles last stand studio version first. Great reaction and Peace out guys 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
This entire LP is 🔥!
Glad to see you two pushing through with all the hassle! 👊🏾
Great banger of a tune as is the one that came right after on Led Zeppelin 4: Four Sticks. Great deep cut you need to hear. Rock On and Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
I'm a ZEPP fan and one of the reason is their diversity of songs which show cases all of their talents
We used to trip on mushrooms and play this oh boy it was insane we'd play over and over and we scream plants vocals lol good times
Mmmmm...mushrooms! I don't like mushrooms in my food but I'll eat magic mushrooms.
I forgot how good this song is. Haven't heard this in decades.. Thanks Phil and Sam and Ed
Sounds so fresh, it's fifty years old
John Paul Jones keyboard on this is phenomenal. One of the best keyboard players ever.
He's great but come-on it's not exactly Beethoven
Zeppelin magic
