For an 8 year old game, MD still looks better than most games today
MD had insanely good art style.
But crashy as hell. 60 fov and 50 gamma just to STABLE for 2 hours before I get the boot!
@@XSilver_WaterX Ive never had the game be unstable for me, fov and especially gamma also shouldnt affect stability at all. The only time the game wasnt working flawlessly for me was when turned on an old experimentive setting on my GPU and I forced the game to run at ultrawide 4K all ultra settings. It ran at like 15 fps and used 13.5GB of vram on my 8GB graphics card and all that happened was texture glitches but it still didnt crash
@@alterablebark54 I've got a 10 yr old pc and it only started to crash because of a lot stupid physic objects were colliding with each other like barrels and KO'd enemies attempting to clip. So, it must be engine failure?
The one thing I think didn't feel as good in MD was the floaty walking, it's almost like you were skating on ice and your weapon viewmodel barely bobbed further adding to the skating feeling.

Nigha you got the finest augmented legs and arms known to man, you can't even buy those of course it feels like your walking on a cloud and you have no gun bounce, especially if you upgrade them you have like 0 recoil with every gun and can jump high af even teleport with that one dash mod. You can't even take fall damage

@@Mizzle420420that's doesn't change the fact that player visual and sensory feedback is still shit and coulda been better. game logic isn't an excuse for movement feedback that feels like ass in addition to feeling like you're a floating gun and not in the world. there's a balance.

i like how shooting the pistol constantly with the silencer in hr makes it sound like an awesome music beat
Got a fairly new ps3 and I’m having a blast discovering more and more games I knew nothing about previously.. Have Saboteur on the way.. I wanted it by Christmas but this one looks interesting too..

Mankind Divided on PC with Max settings looks better than modern games. Human Revolution director's cut felt better to play though.

It's unfortunate that this game isnt as popular as the high-selling games that were heavily inspired by it (to the point that they shamelessly copied it and pretended like they didn't).

The gunplay felt better in Human revolution, being able to take cover and blind-fire (at the cost of accuracy) was just fun and satisfying. They took that out, and it kinda ruined the game for me. No reason a sequel should be removing basic gameplay mechanics. The cover system in the sequel felt way too automated too, especially by automating running from cover to cover so much and adding in all these extra button prompts and crap. They had the game playing itself at that point, I don't want Gear of Wars, I want Human Revolution.
The cover system was the same in hr tho, same use a button to move from cover to cover. Additionally in both games if you found it annoying you could just manually duck behind cover with crouch so it wasnt something your forced to do

There is such a thing as too much screen clutter. MD is a textbook example of that. The GUI pop-up options over distant cars, cameras, robots, etc, the non-uniform visual style, the cramped overtextured streets of Prague, your attention is being pulled in 100 different directions at all times. And the overdesigned cover system is a straight up downgrade over HR's intuitive lean-out-to-shoot style. Too many button combos to remember, takes you out of the flow of the fight.
But barring all that, the game is just too small and too short. Sure, they put a lot of clutter into a small space, but it is still a *small space.* One city-hub (smaller then either Detroit or Hengsha hubs in HR), some side-dungeons, the end. And not even the end, the cliffhanger. They didn't even give the plot a satisfactory conclusion.
Aside from graphical fidelity (minus the overtexture syndrome), HR is a better game in every way. Of course, neither hold a candle to original Deus Ex, which was and remains the king of cyberpunk style games, even to this day.

Gonna have to disagree. I didn't really have any problems with the gameplay in MD. In fact, it felt a lot more polished compared to HR due to the increased number of options. Similarly, the city also felt far more immersive in nature despite the smaller size because of the increase in detail.
The one thing I can agree with is that the story felt pretty rushed near the ending. I was honestly kinda pissed with how they ended it just when things were getting interesting.

@@peppermillers8361 that one really shouldn't count as a mainline game, it's a side-story with an irrelevant main character, and it's a port of a mobile game, not even originally intended for PC

@@miscellaneousmedia3753 If we didn't had The Fall, then we wouldn't have Mankind Divided as most of the things are carried over from that game like Icarus Dash augmentation, Vault from cover and Alex Vega. While Ben Saxon isn't as charming as Adam, he is a well defined character if you read Icarus Effect. The only problem of that game is because it was made for mobile as Deus Ex is best played on PC.

You do realize some engines are made for specific things and would make the game worse if the game is not the genre that fits the engine, right?

the ui design of HR is much better than MD imo, its futuristic minimal doesn't look generic like MD at all. Also the yellow element all over i like the most

I played a bit of Human Revolution three years ago but somehow, I just couldn't get into it. I enjoy Mankind Divided a lot more, mostly because it doesn't have that disgusting yellow tint over everything.
But yellow tint = Futuristic dystopia

Mankind Divided is good but unfortunately for the most part it took place in a very random country with the stereotypical hollywood middleeast/russian accent on every local. On top of that the final segment was rushed so it ends abruptly instead of continuing for another chapter.
How is the Czech Republic "a very random country"? Prague was chosen for a specific reason: It's a very old city and the juxtaposition with Deus Ex' futuristic noir-ish technology and excellent art direction works beautifully, in my opinion. Add to that Michael McCann's perfect score and Mankind Divided is easily among the most atmospheric games I have *ever* played - and I love and seek out atmospheric games. Prage in its three different stages is my favourite hubworld ever. The accents can be a bit unfortunate, I give you that. Way I heard it, much of the voice direction was outsourced to Poland for some reason, so they had a lot of talent that just butchered the Czech language. Very weird. I also agree with you concerning the games length. The intro sequence in Dubai is a great setpiece, then you spend most of the time in Prague, then the Utulek Complex/Golem City is also great. But the GARM facility in Switzerland is when you notice them running out of time or budget or steam and yeah, the ending feels very rushed. Which is too bad. DX:MD is alway fantastic, I think. The pacing is a glaring issue. I still love it to bits, though :)
