Agreed. 🤝 Rarely disagree with Kermode but I can't believe he actually liked this! I was looking forward to him absolutely slating it in all honesty. It was awful for so many reasons I just don't know where to begin... 😅
Been a couple of months since I watched it, but I remember enjoying it quite a bit. Karen Gillan is pretty great. Among the female-led John Wick clones that have come out recently I thought this was better than both Kate (with Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Jolt (Kate Beckinsale), and even those films I enjoyed for what they are. Any reason why you found it utterly awful? Genuinely curious. It’s no masterpiece, and it will probably be gathering dust in the late pages of Netflix’s action genre section within a year, but I liked it.
Kermode's reviews of late are becoming less reliable. This is no Kick Ass, nor the feminist John Wicke, the makers were hoping for. Most of the gratuitous violence is just ridiculous with no emotional attachment and Gillan, fine actress as she is, doesn't come across as a hardened hit lady and she certainly can't fight very well. I wanted to like this but it's a big thumbs down. Ignore Kermode.

The underground parking lot scene is worth the movie... It is a good action flick!
