I have a JD 111 that the 11hp dropped a intake valve so pulled that engine and put in a Kawasaki FD460V with a pressurized oiling system, fit is perfect except it is taller and longer forward than the old engine, so had to make new mounting brackets for the gas tank and also had to make my own exhaust coming out the side is a tractor muffler with the flapper, looks very nice. I made my exhaust manifold out of a Cast Iron Plumping black pipe floor flange, by machining it down and it worked perfect, using 1 inch black pipe and fittings. I still need to build a brace that mounts to the frame to take weight off the exhaust manifold.
Not bad. I just got a new engine that came with that muffler. I hope my old one fits it. I have a new one that's male thread I bought for one. They're so much easier to work with being pipe threads. I think you could maintain an Italian sports car for what you can keep a riding mower up with. $$$ it never ends. Love/hate relationship. Good video. Enjoyed it.
Thank you very much for this information just what l was looking for, l was wondering does the muffler restrict more back pressure than the pepper shaker.
Your welcome! Actually I think the tractor muffler would have less back pressure because its more of a open design, there is no dividing baffle plate or anything like that. thanks for watching!!!
Hello do you still have any exhaust flanges for my briggs and stratton 15.5 single cylender I would like to buy one iam in Stafford Virginia thankyou for your time ed
Before and after sound would've been great. Sounds like your editing program or camera is toning down the sound. Does it sound same to you when you listen to this video?
Yeah, I probably should have done that, I try to cut the volume down some when the engines are running in my videos because its usually really loud on headphones, but sometimes that camera i used at the time, the volume limiter would stick on it. Thanks for Watching!
@@MrCoder101 It is louder not by a extreme amount though, but one thing that helps is the exhaust and sound is pointed up and away from you, but yes overall it is louder, but has a better sound to it! If your trying to a quieter route, then this may not be the best way.
I would suggest adding a brace to a head bolt or something to make it stronger, if you watch my tractor restoration videos you will see how i braced the exhaust on it. Thanks for Watching!!!
It's NOT you..it's me! Wish, when they made items with arrows, it would ALWAYS INDICATE DIRECTION of 'flow' or 'travel'! In this case.. EXHAUST or OUTFLOW.. not an arrow, pointing to the inlet. Too many, JUST SEE THE ARROW.. (OPPS!) and weld 'er up! BACKWARDS!
It actually was pretty quiet, most of the sound goes straight up, its a Stanley IH1, i got it at rural king, tractor supply should have them too. and they are on ebay. It was 20 bucks and the raincap is around 7. Thanks for Watching!!!
On the bigger engines like this its 1" pipe thread, on say a 5 horse briggs its a 3/4" thread and on small 3.5 horse push mower engines its 1/2" thread. Thanks for Watching!!!
As long as the threads are the same (3/4") i don't see why it would, because if your going by HP ratings, the 20 hp is basically 2 10 hp engines, the muffler are designed for like 5-8hp, not much difference. It might void warranty on something new, but i don't see how it would cause to much restriction. If the mufflers start glowing cherry red then it might be to much restriction. thanks for watching!!!

I agree i like the threaded exhaust too. Yep, they are expensive to maintain. thanks for watching!!!
I was thinking about that same muffler for my two Gilsons but I have not convinced myself yet. :)
I hear ya! Go for it, it sounds and looks good. I can't wait to put it on my little tractor. thanks for watching!!!

I'm just wondering why you didn't just tap it out instead of welding it. Would made a much better seal.
I didn't have a pipe thread tap for one and i thought welding it would be faster. Thanks for Watching!!!

@@fnaguitarplayer9 So does your engine sound same to you in the video or is it louder in real life? Just want to know if I should go this route.

@@fnaguitarplayer9 ok thank you very much
but is that putting too much stress on the exhaust port ?

I don't have a welder, would JB WELD work for this type of DIY muffler system ?
High temp jb weld

What muffler is that exactly and where did you get it. Sounds fairly Quiet!

Those round hot dog type tractor mufflers are sold at Ryral king stores, Atwood, or quality farm fleet, tractor supply stores.
What size is you motor?
The OHV in the video was a 14.5hp briggs model 28, the flathead on the red mower is a 12hp briggs. Thanks for Watching!!!
What size what the pipe threads

I have a 20hp briggs horizontal shaft, will those sausage style mufflers be a big restriction? Its on a Craftsman GT20
