  • This diorama of the Seikan Tunnel is mainly a display diorama for a Shinkansen non-working N scale model from a Japanese company called Trane. It was a souvenir for my dad when I went to Japan for the first time in 2002.
When my dad passed away in 2013, my mother gave me the model. It's been sitting for 10 years in my train room and then my office. Now it has a permanent location in my office on this diorama.
The Seikan Tunnel connects the Japanese islands of Honshu and Hokkaido with an underwater tunnel that has dual-gauge track. It's mainly used for Shinkansen trains but also for freight trains that run on the narrower gauge track.
For more info on the tunnel, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seikan_...

Thanks. It doesn’t take up much space. I have it displayed on a display shelf in my office.

Well I did ask for permission to borrow it, just not permanently! 😁 I’ll probably buy her a new one at some point though to keep the peace. Glad you like how it turned out.

Some of these are hard to find now. You might be able to find them online somewhere but expect to pay a lot since some are considered collectibles.
