yeah, that's what i figured. I'm going to take the head liner down in the next few weeks to get to the bolts on the underside while i am sound deadening the sheet metal on the roof.
I dont know exactly what i am going to do, i like the main body of the antenna, i just dont like the small part that sticks up. I may just get a plug to put in the threaded hole and leave it at that. still looking into options.
While I wait for my Ranger raptor, it would be nice if you could test whether or not the power outlets in the bed will run until the battery dies or if the computer will cut power automatically before the battery dies and also how long can you run something from back there!? Great videos man!
That is an interesting idea... i will do a little research to make sure i am not going to brick my battery if i do that and end up having to buy a new one. I believe the BMS will sense the draw and when the voltage drops below a point it will shut it down. I will give it a try and see what happens. Any idea of what to run? i guess i could hook up a big fan to it or something. To be honest, i wonder if it will even run when the truck is off... i wouldn't be surprised if it is disabled unless the truck is in accessory mode.
@@flaberdoopin awesome! Yes, of course, don’t ruin your battery for the sake of a video but it would be a cool experiment… not sure what to run, maybe a power tool, like a drill? A laptop, fan, ?! Maybe a blender lol anything whacky would make for a funny video lol
@@GC-ti1vz haha, i love where your head is... i will come up with something funny with a power strip running a bunch of random crap haha. Thanks for the idea!
You bet! I would love to know more about how the power bank works but would also enjoy watching you make a frozen margarita, while doing work on a computer next to an inflatable Christmas decoration LOL powered by ford!!
i have seen it used for roof racks, i guess it is for whatever you want to mount up there and a snorkel makes sense to mount there. It could also be used for a forward facing light bar. Lots of options.
@@flaberdoopin I have a Raptor and a Ranger Wildtrak, the Wildtrak has a factory snorkel that uses the front holes and I have a aftermarket roof rack and it doesn’t use the holes, you have to drill those
interesting. the racks i am looking at use the two holes in the front and back, but then no way to mount snorkel unless you secure it to the rack itself. I do not plan on any deep water crossing so i dont need a snorkel at the moment.
Are those the things over the windows that smokers use to be able to smoke in the rain? I have never had those on any of my cars or trucks but they do seem handy if you want some fresh air in the rain
@@RxngerRxptorI think they do look cool but I just never needed them. I know my dad puts them on his trucks and swears by them. I may look into it for the ranger just to see what options are out there
I never thought about it reducing wind noise when driving with windows down, always just thought they were to keep you dry if you have the windows down a bit in the rain
because i plan on putting a roof rack on it and i wanted to see was under there so i could plan on how it will mount. It is just foam tape... it isn't like i broke anything
You have to remove the headliner to get that off. Could have saved yourself some hassle with a visit to the Ranger 5G forum. We've known that for 5 years now. And it's no different on the 6G rangers
I plan to pull the head liner off this weekend to put some sound dampener up on the roof. I wont be taking the gutter cover off yet but i'll take a look at the two bolts/nuts that have to come out. Once i get a roof rack i'll take it down again to get it installed. Cheers
Thanks so much for making this video. You saved me a lot of aggrevation looking for roof rail mounting nuts that aren't there.
Right on! I was expecting some mounting points as well!
Those strips cover the channel for aftermarket roof rack systems...

Those strips generally cover the seam where the roof spot welds onto the rest of the body and such. Those "dimples" as you called them are spot welds.
ahhh, that makes sense. thanks for the info!
Nice video. Do you plan on replacing that antenna with a shark type?

@@angelberrios7843 i will google that right now

@@bigbawls81 right, but not so appealing on fin part. Like them standing alone better.
There is a smaller arial that doesn’t go above the fin so you can still use the radio
I will look for that.. i think it would look much better not having any antenna sticking up over the fin.

@flaberdoopin the rack system we use in Australia use more bolts to secure the rack... as the supports fill the entire gutter
