Ranger Raptor HAMMOCK and TENT options. Relax in style with hitch mounted hammocks and chairs
I bought all of these racks and tents and hammocks and the fan with my own money and this is my honest opinion, nothing is sponsored and i would totally buy it all again!
This is my setup with my Adventure Hammock System and my Haven Tent along with my Parachute tent. Also set up some swinging chairs on my Yakima Long Arm along with a shower system. And lastly, we open up the roof top tent and spent the night out there.
The Fan link, as promised: (i was way off, it was more than $35, i got it during prime day sales for like 50 but now it's over 100... still awesome though). a.co/d/41N0QOu

2024 Ranger Raptor Hood Strut / Ditch Light combo install... maybe not great idea on aluminum hood

These things are pretty awesome but the fact that the hood in aluminum and these hood struts are super heavy to close makes me nervous. There is a lot of pressure being put on a bit of sheet metal, i hope it holds up long term. I ordered them from australia... www.gmf4x4.au/strut-kits.

    Amazing! Thanks for that Video! I am soooooo relieved that one does not have to remove the tonneau cover, the bed liner and anything else from the bed as shown in most other videos for installing the J-Braces. That makes it so much easier and I wonder why others actually do remove all of that...

      right on, i cant imagine how difficult this would be if you had to go through the floor of the bed somehow to get to these. It was still a big of a pain but totally doable. Cheers.

    Just doing a 3 month check-in to see if youve come across any issues with this set-up. My Lariat will be coming in this october and (as you said in your first video on this topic), the audio sounds amazing, but is definitely lacking. I have concerns though. Being a fird technician, I see a lot of aftermarket equipment interfering with factory electronics. Have you seen any issues? Any battery draw concerns? Also, the wires coming from the factory sub are an amplified signal, so have/did you see any issues with an amplified signal going into the self powered sub, only to be amplified again? Hopefully, you haven't had any issues because "tapping into" these new audio systems is just too much. All I wanna do is add a little bass, not a whole system overhaul. I dont forsee any issues with this since it's a self-contained, self powered unit. The only issue I see is a possible draw from the kicker amp. Would be nice if the power could be taken from a switched power source. But then you're getting into how much additional power is being drawn from the *very* sensitive facory body control module. Anyway, thanks for the video and any additional information you can provide!

      Hey, thanks for the follow up. No issues whatsoever and i did take a 12 hour road trip where i had the windows down and the stereo blasting the whole time so it was put to the test. there have been no faults or electronics issues with the truck. The signal out of the factory sub is pretty much being left as an open circuit. the aftermarket powered sub isn't adding power to that signal, it is simply reading the signal across a massive amount of resistance and using that as the input for it's internal amplifier (at least that is how i understand it as a systems engineer). I do get what you are saying about the electronics in these vehicles being very sensitive but my setup has seen zero ill effects from the stereo modifications i have made. Hope this helps.

    2013 Toyota Sienna. Save so much money! I too went down the check list to confirm this is the issue. Compressor is working, no leaks, etc. Spot on with using the pics to remove the C-clip and then using the socket / bar to tap the solenoid back in flush. For me it cost $180 total. Did fine an Auto shop to remove and refill the same amount of Freon at no extra cost - 140. They were understanding and cool about my issue. Some other shops were not and gave quotes to diagnosed and then assume if the compressor needed to be replaced it would be around 1,000 to 1,500 here in Allen, Texas. Yes…I took a chance with Amazon at 40 bucks for the part but I got cool ass AC for the van. Thanks so much for your video and sacrificing your body. Hehe

    Upgrading your factory B&O sound system is a complete waste of time unless you install a new DSP, and if you want perfect integration with OEM Ford functionality you must use an A2B (Ford OEM audio Bus ) DSP, this can be integrated into an aftermarket amp like the Mobridge A2B or stand alone like Navtv Zen A2B, like others said in the comments, the factory B&O is perfectly tuned for all of its components and is excellent for most people, but by no means high fidelity and definitely not worthy of the B&O name, do it the right way or dont do it at all.......just my 2 cents

Driving into the city with the Ranger is no issue at all, i mean i see delivery trucks everywhere so a bigger vehicle is obviously doable but just cumbersome and i do not like to be the person holding up traffic to make a turn or get into a parking spot. i live by the 'if everyone did it would it still work' philosophy and it would be chaos if everyone drove a full size truck in the city! And yeah, just gotta roll with the punches, no vehicle is going to be perfect, if you look hard enough you will always find faults, just gotta choose your battles, right?

    The Ranger Raptor is more fun to drive than your Explorer ST?! WOW!! My tuned and lowered Explorer ST is hands down the best and fastest vehicle I've ever owned. I have an Acura TLX Type S and I just picked up my ordered 2024 Ranger Raptor. I only have 200 miles on it and I 've already ordered my aftermarket wheels and 2-Inch leveling kit. I doubt the Ranger will give me more thrills than my explorer ST, but it did replace my 6-Inch lifted 2021 F-150 Lariat on 35's, which I didn't drive much due to only getting 11 miles per gallon!

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin 6 днів тому

      I never too my Explorer ST off roading so I don’t know how much fun it would have been on this trail, I’m guessing not very well. On a normal road the Explorer was nicer, but the M3 and RS were better than the Explorer there as well. I think the Explorer was one of the most comfortable vehicles I have had and it was a blast on a nice smooth twisty road but I love the versatility of the ranger raptor

    • @DalHarpJr

      @@flaberdoopin I too have never taken my Explorer ST off-road and probably never will. The Explorer is for speed and comfort. Once I start to drive my Ranger Raptor I'll be able to see what the hype is about, as I'm already having buyers remorse by trading in my 2021 F-150 Lariat. I have to get used to driving a mid sized truck, as my F-150 was lifted 6-inches and rode on 35's. Like you, I commute to DC for work as well. Hopefully I'll get more than the 11 MPG I was getting with the F-150.

    • @flaberdoopin

      @@DalHarpJr if you expecting the same performance out of the Ranger that you are getting from your explorer, you are going to sorely disapointed. It has a LOT more unsprung weight and much more rotational mass in the drive train. If you aren't going to take it offroad i think it isn't worth it coming from the explorer ST, but if you want to get out on the trails and fire roads, it is the best option out there if you also want a bit of performance.

    • @DalHarpJr
      @DalHarpJr 5 днів тому

      @@flaberdoopin Although the drivetrain in the Ranger Raptor is the same as in the Explorer ST, I'm not looking for the same level of performance as they're two different type of vehicles. I'm definitely going to take the Ranger off-road. Nothing too crazy, as its built for that purpose. I still have the Explorer, so they'll compliment each other in different ways. The Ranger is most definitely quicker than the F-150, even though the F-150 was up a half liter and 50HP. I'm not knocking the the Ranger Raptor at all. I just haven't driven it since I brought it home. Monday I get my 2-inch leveling kit installed. After that I will install my new wheels and get an alignment. • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin 8 днів тому

      wow, this comment made my day. Thank you for taking the time to post a comment on this video. Sorry i didn't go into detail on the oil addition. i was having a bit of a tough time trying to get it loaded into the hose until i just poked a small hold in the seal of the oil and pushed it against the hose end and just forced it in there with the other side detached and it turned out i didn't have the camera on at the time. When i went to purge the hose once i had the R134A on it i ended up spraying a good bit of the oil all over the engine bay of the van haha. I totally should have put that in the video but i was embarrassed so i left it out but now that i have thought about it, my mistakes can help people in the future so i should have put it in as a "what not to do" type of thing. Cheers and i hope you have a great one!

    OReilly part number MT3436, usually able to get within a day or two, seemingly faster than options from Amazon and the like. You can google that part number and see the manufacturer's details, too. For those of us DIYing, take your van to a shop like Pepboys and request "A/C evacuation". Let them know what you're doing. Many stores have a drain and refill service. Safe and they'll be damn sure to get the numbers just right. For me, I jacked the passenger side 2 clicks up my jack stands, removed the splash guard under the engine, removed the connector bracket from the crossmember (for my knuckles). I also removed the AC line closest to the compressor valve as I constantly was touching it with my ring pliers and didnt want to damage it. When removing the valve, I used a pair of jaw pliers and rotated the valve by its connector GENTLY until it moved somewhat freely. Pulling it out with pliers seemed hopeless so I used an interior trim separator between the connector and the compressor body and wiggled it while twisting with the wrench. Mine was held in more by vacuum than anything else. Avoid contact/inhalation of the oil, a smidge is likely to come out and it's super bad for you. NOTE: 2016 Sienna's could have a 2015 style compressor OR a 2017 style compressor! Go to rockauto, search for a 2015 Sienna compressor, then do the same for a 2017. Pull up a picture for the DENSO brand unit for each. Compare to yours, they don't look all that similar! You'll also note that the "B" version of the compressor has the snap ring opening facing downward while the 2011-2016 "A" version has the snap ring opening pointed up forwards the hood. I have NO IDEA what valve(s) might be in the "B" version for 2016+ vans, just be clear that some 2016s (including mine!) have the older style compressor as demonstrated in this video.

      There is a frame rail that runes across side to side directly behind the transmission, that’s what I mounted it on with some super 3m Velcro that I use in my windshield to hold my toll transmitter in the dash and handles the heat well. Had it there for about a month now with no issues.

      Hahaha, good choice for you but be sure to check whatever car you get because a lot of them have it now. Redline Tuning has just released their new line of struts for RR@2024. They have an installation guide on their UA-cam channel. What’s your take on this one?

    • @flaberdoopin

      I’ll check it out tonight for sure. If they don’t send some sort of support out past the hood brackets I’d be worried about the same thing I was having issues with but it may have softer struts that don’t take as much force to put down, that won’t help if the wind grabs it while it’s up and snaps it back though… worse case you get to buy an awesome aftermarket carbon fiber hood or something if it messes up the stock one

    I took a Ranger Raptor for a test drive and I have to admit I liked it. If it had a bigger gas tank I would seriously consider it. My test drive netted 12 mpg. Its rated 16 city and I know in the winter it will get around 14mpg. The combination of small gas tank and very poor mileage is a turn off.

    Thanks for the video and all those tips. Great job! I’m considering Aux 1 as well on mine to power those lights up… Or DRL 😅 Question: when you remote start your raptor, is Aux 1 working as well without the ignition on? Or do you have to press the start button inside the cab to have the auxiliary switches powered? Thanks!!

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin 12 днів тому

      when you remote start, the Aux switches are powered so if you have them switched on when you remote start it, they will energize and turn on the accessories or lights you have hooked up before you ever get in the truck to hit the start button to let it know you are in there and ready to drive.

I was actually pretty surprised at just how bad the mileage was on a 3L turbo charged truck, but it is just a big old speed brake rolling down the road with a lot of rotating mass and unsprung weight. for my 800 mile road trip on highways i didn't even get 18.5 average... oh well.

    Great review, I'm 1000 miles in and you 100% nailed it. - This is my favorite car in 20 years. ( I miss my '06 Chrysler 300 SRT-8). - They did so many things right that you don't expect these days, I feel bad criticizing. - Great power, quiet high quality interior, perfect size, semi reasonable price vs competition. But as you said: - No rear seat vents - Big miss. - Seats are perfectly bolstered, and hold firm - Because of this they need to be ventilated - Back sweat is real. - We need a driver A-pillar grab handle. The running board is too wide to step over. - They should have allowed clearance for 35's w/o cutting-its very close. - Having to add load box reinforcement to the perfect overland truck is absolute BS. - Actual switches for lockers would be a plus as well.
