Tokyo Ghoul & Alice in Wonderland Connection - Amon Follows The White Rabbit

- This is something I've been working on for a couple of months now. Been researching previous chapters of Tokyo Ghoul and the possible connection to Alice in Wonderland. Donato told Amon to follow Alice instead of the White Rabbit. What could those cryptic words mean for the series? Overall I believe one day will get a chapter titled Wonderland from Ishida Sui. The chapter might focus on the whole world realizing that they're in a birdcage/ illusion. Seeking the White Rabbit means finding enlightenment or the truth. However this path is very lonely. I like this video overall i think Ishida merely chose Alice in wonderland because it's a story that most likely influence d the storyline for Amon's character which isn't a bad thing i just feel like sometimes people prolly think to deeply into details like this but who knows that's just my opinion

As far as I can tell Eto is Alice, not Kaneki. Alice in Wonderland is not Alice and Wonderland. "Alice and" references the final chapter of Alice in Wonderland chapter 12 "Alice's Evidence". The full chapter title being "Alice and all her Wonderful Adventures" and it is where Alice tells someone else of her dream, namely her sister, who after hearing of Alice's dream, begins imagining herself as that role. Trust me when I say you've misunderstood and haven't done enough research chibi. You're good, don't get me wrong, but you have to follow the clues more closely and not assume anything. The rabbit hole always goes deeper than you first think it does.

You make excellent points, but here's a question to posit to you.
Can't it be both?
When it comes to interpreting literature of any kind, the only time you're truly failing with it is when you left field it with no basis in the text. Chibi had evidence here backing his claim. And you can say "But that's not what the author/mangaka/director/artist intended." Isn't it though? Many good writers will layer so many different symbols, motifs, and ideas in their stories, and they can mean multiple things simultaneously. They let you decide what means what, because at the end of the day, the moment they release it, their work is no longer theirs. We breath life into it and thus it is us who decides what a character was feeling during a scene or disambiguate the twisted words before us.
It's also possible that the legacy of Alice is that of the One-Eyed-Ghoul. Eto passed the torch off to Kaneki, almost literally. Hence, Eto as a baby and Kaneki as a reborn figure fit in extremely well, as BOTH are Alice.
I literally just finished watching alice through the looking glass like 20 minutes ago. Illuminati confirmed.

Am I the only one that thinks that chapter 56 of :re follows the title of ch.55? Alice& the second King. Eto being Alice and Kaneki as the second King.

I like the way how deep you are analyzing Tokyo Ghoul: re. In order to be able to truely understand the content of the creator you need to reflect it deeply. May it be the character it'sself, the emotions they have or the things they went through or will go through. It all highly depends on the reader. I would like to thank Sui Ishida at this point for letting Donato speak out a very, very important sentence. Instead of chasing the white rabbit, chase Alice. If you think about it enough you may come to the conclusion that you don't have to go this path on yourself. Unlike Kaneki in our world many went through this path and found themself struggling but at the end they were able to open up their eyes and see the truth. Casual reading won't be enough if you sincerly want to understand what is going on. However, and this is my sincere advice for you since we do share a certain amount of reflection or let's call it mutual understanding:
Invest a little potion of your time to our world and how this world is functioning. I really don't want to see your reflection going to waste because you only used it for the things that you felt convenient with. There is much more you can do with it if you know where and how to use it. It also is depending of how much you've been fed with false information until this point of your life. Unfortunately, many who would like to go this path have doubts and anxiety because how things will change in their life and eventually themselfs all together. This won't be happening from today to tomorrow of course, but as you walk through this path you may understand this life more and more with it's truth and with it's flaws. I don't know your personally, but from what I was able to see from you I will have to make assumptions. I think you are not a person who ignores messages and I also think if you are able to, you will most likely think about a matter more than twice. You may have or may not have prejudgemental thougts about certain matters, perhaps even an ignorant mindset too but I will take the chance and kindly ask you to use your ability to deeply reflect messages on the Quran. It may sound different to you, but this is what I personally can advice you because I think we are both able to understand each other on a complete different level. I really have a suspicion that Tokyo Ghoul Re is going to end similarly with terms like that of Code Geass. Furuta mentioned it earlier on in the series briefly saying something to Kaneki like "Why don't you take all the blame and just disappear?". In this case, you can predict that Kaneki may become a symbol of hatred for the world, exactly like Lelouche had eventually become, and then sacrifice himself for the greater good. But that isn't the end of it, Kaneki knows he needs someone who is just like him, who has seen both sides of the world and has the same end goal. In Code Geass, Lelouche prepared to give Suzaku the name of Zero, due to Lelouche knowing that Suzaku was worthy of the name. I predict that Amon may be "Tokyo Ghoul's Suzaku", and perhaps become the next one-eyed king and to prolong the legacy of the previous One Eyed King, Kaneki. Kaneki will give Amon the role of ensuring the world lives on with a strong bridge between humans and ghouls. Mind you, I also predict there will be many variations from the ending of Code Geass, but I am prepared for Tokyo Ghoul Re to end similarly.
You have a interesting theory, but I just don't see that happening. That would be counter all the goals. Kaneki wants to create a world that ghouls and humans can understand each other, by having discussions. He is the one eyed king now and they addressed this in the previous chapters. People look up to him, they rely on him. He has created an organization. Any hatred towards him would be towards is hatred towards his whole organization and ghouls in general. Even if hypothetically, lets say he becomes the symbol of hatred, and all the ghouls and humans blame him for all that wrong in the world, and they kill him. That doesn't mean humans will accept ghouls. With Code Geass we knew most of the players deciding what going on behind the scenes but in tokyo ghoul the futher we read the deeper the rabbit hole goes. we learn about V, the washuu, donato the clowns and other shadow players. And also Code geass was between different nations and tokyo ghoul is between different species.
If it did happen, then it would give me no reason to like Code Geass, because literally the only thing that I liked about that Trope clusterfuck was the *concept* of the ending. Not even the ending itself, just the *concept*.
I think Arima/Eto were that in TG actually. Arima for ghouls and Eto for humans. The zenith of them, Kaneki, will present the true turning point for Tokyo Ghoul as a series, but I don't think Kaneki will be throwing his life away like that. Furuta might try and Lelouchify Kaneki, but I don't think Kaneki will be creating any Requiems of his own accord.
That said, I don't imagine he will survive Tokyo Ghoul. Somehow, a "happily ever after" seems way too distant to ever come true. Not only that, but the very first chapter sets up Tokyo Ghoul as a tragedy. So whatever Kaneki's end, I doubt it will be happy.

My original theory on the whole conversation is that Amon was the White Rabbit and Kaneki was metaphorically Alice. Meaning that Amon as a CCG investigator, was the white rabbit pursuing Alice or Ghouls such as Kaneki, but they'd both end up at the same destination of being One eyed Ghouls.
Regarding your theory, Amon would be the White Rabbit walking down the lonely path it he chose to Pursue Kaneki, but then it changes, remember when in TG part one at the very beginning Hide's yelling at Kaneki for being off school so long.
Then he says "rabbits die of loneliness!" That would represtent the death in the Alice& chapter.
Back to TG RE when Kaneki see's Hide in his fight with Arima, Kaneki says "I'm so lonely without you," and then Hide replies "what are you a little bunny?" and the he tells him to LIVE which would represent the rebirth in the Alice& chapter.
At the time Kaneki is hearing this and fighting Arima, Amon is protecting Akira from Takizawa, and the Akira protects Takizawa, and they all join the same side, Amon is no longer pursuing Kaneki as he is a ghoul and, I assume, will be on Kaneki's side. And now I just confused myself.. anyway all that suggests Kaneki to be the white rabbit which could be a thing as Kaneki is pursuing Amon, when they find him in the lab, yeah that all i got to in my theory.. yeah

Let me try to be detailed without saying TOO much if you're interested. It's a fantasy/horror series following a girl who's mentally unstable and develops a syndrome called "Alice in Mirrorland", that makes her see things that shouldn't be there in the reflections she sees. A barrier between reality and illusion is broken so what she sees starts to affect real life, in a sense welcoming her to the world "at the other side of the mirror"... and she isn't alone. (Maybe that's more of Alice through the Looking Glass though?) What do you think?

I love it when classic stories themes and symbolism is used for the writer way of telling the situation of the characters. This was a interesting video Chibi with how the people will wake up from the dream of wonderland and realize the reality they live in. Also the correlation of Shirazu sister being unaware of what had happened. Can't wait for the next chapter to see what tears we shall spread.

Loved this video Chibi. I really agree with the "alice = kaneki and to follow him" theory. I also think that in this sense, the white rabbit is the one-eyed king, leading Kaneki into reality, or, Wonderland. The very truth of this world is twisted by CCG in such a way that it seems 'insane'. There's also the fact that the white rabbit and Alice are the only bridges between fantasy and reality. Likewise, Kaneki (well... that much is known) and Arima/Eto both having connections to the false 'reality' and the insane 'hidden truth'.

I think the title "Alice&" is referring to Kaneki understanding the world for the first time, in other words waking up. Kaneki (Alice) wakes up from the illusion of the world (Wonderland) and so the only thing that's left is Alice& - the Wonderland's gone. So I doubt there'll be a chapter called "Wonderland" in the future, but well, you never know.

Chibi, you should make a video about all the recent spider symbolism. For example the panel where Juzo is tangled in spider webs when he starts to sense the clowns trap. Or Utas spider like Kagune and the way he crawled off like a spider when Juzo kneed him in the face. Also chapter 112 of re is titled "Saved From the Web" .... what could all this mean?
