Hi, thank you for the demo. I was having problems understanding this version's (online) payroll functions. I noted (through watching) that the employee setup needs to be completed but am using a dummy file with no account numbers and so I couldn't fulfill. Now that that's understood, I can move on and stop feeling so dumb. Thanks, your video is informative, concise and great like all the rest :). - R

Hector, when there is a lump sum entered for payroll, lets say for January and February when the payroll starts March 1st, how do you reconcile the bank statements when the checks in that month aren't included in the register? The lump sum amount doesn't appear in the bank register until the time at which it is posted for that period by QBO payroll. Hope this isn't too far from what I'm trying to say.

Hector... I love your videos. I recently converted from desktop to QB online with Payroll Core. I am used to paying my own payroll taxes as soon as I run payroll. When I do that then the payroll liability that was sent electronically debits my checkbook register. I just ran my first payroll with online and I know I have it set to for QB to automatically pay the taxes but I guess it does not do it until the deadline which will be Monday (semiweekly depositor). I pulled the amount from the chart of accounts just so I would know how much to expect to come out of the checking account but I wish there was a better way. Basically I wish it was done immediately like it was with desktop... so we have an actual checkbook balance. Does that make sense ?

When I do the payroll the 1% is not taken out of the gross but deducting the health and dental insurance and then taking out the 1%. On the setting it is not giving me an option that it is not exempt from the health insurance. Hope I explained this good. Called QB but couldn't help me and said I have to purchase the premium subscription for that option. Is that correct or is there another way to edit the settings that 1% will be taken out of the gross. Thank you.

Thank you for your videos. I learn more with them that actually calling quickbooks support. I hope you can help me with an issue, I am having trouble when it comes to recording/paying the gratuities from credit cards payments. We record the gratuities we received on a daily basis to a liability account called “undistributed tips”, but when I run the payroll (which I added paycheck tips under pay types) it records it as wages expense to the company and they are not been taken out of the liability account and not only that but the company also is paying employer taxes on those amounts and we should not have to do so since they are not a company expense. How can I fix that. Please help.

If you want to hand write the check and place your own check number on the employee paycheck, can you do this?

    Hi Hector,
I do not use job costing but i enter the hour consumed by every employee on daily basis, and then run the payroll on monthly basis.
Can you please let me know if there is a way to view the total cost of each employee (for which i have run the payroll+which is in timesheet and not 'run the payroll')
