    What you did is what I call a discovery trip. And it's probably the most important thing a foreigner can do before moving to the Philippines to live. Experience the place, the people, the culture and just immerse yourself as much as you can about the country. There's alot of things that you might not be able to handle - weather, traffic, chaotic driving, inferior infrastructure, bureaucracy, slow pace of living, etc. Those could be deal breakers. By visiting the country first at least you can make an informed decision. Great informative video Ginno!

    Hey, I am new to your channel. Brotha I could not have said it any better..everything you said about planning, visiting, and moving to the Philippines is spot on!! Well said brotha. I am a veteran and plan to visit the Philippines at least three to four times before moving there. I plan to stay in each location for 5 or 6 days to get a feel for it. I am considering, Iloilo City, Cebu City, maybe Dumaguete, Roxas City, Panglao area of Bohol, and finally Davao City. In my preparation, I have watched over 500 hundred UA-cam videos about the Philippines since this past December alone! I am from New York City but I live in Hawaii now and I want a simple life that offers a bit of both- a city and a province lifestyle, kind of in between, or a mixture of both but nothing like Manila. Good video and accurately said brotha!!

      Thank you my brother. From your list; my recommendation would be Iloilo City and Dumaguete City; both have the province and city feel that you are looking for. Panglao has the best beach from your list; but Tagbilaran City (closest city to Panglao not that big). Roxas City is also a smaller size city. I’m not a fan of Cebu City; because of the congestion and traffic. Davao City is the only place on your list that we haven’t visited. Take care brother.

      @@dazeltv1351 You are welcome my brotha. I am not feeling Dumaguete that much but I will check it out. I also looked at Valencia near Dumaguete. Anywhere I live in either of those locations I will be living near or on the beach as I do not here in Hawaii. I planned on checking out Tagbilaran City too while in Panglao. Cebu, I would live near or on the beach, away from IT Park even though I am an IT guy but I will be semi-retired or retired when I move there. Thank you for the info and response brotha. Take care and keep doing what you do!

    1-2 brown outs per month isn't too bad, compared to what other vloggers
    mention they have in their areas. When I was there Last year I stayed 58days.
    I rented 2 apartments in subdivisions in 2 different areas for 30 days each trying
    to get a real feel for what it would be like living there full time. I found the city of
    Santa Cruz Laguna is NOT a place I would live. Lumban & the Caliraya Lake area
    was Very nice & laid back. Tagaytay & Tayabas was nice. Calamba Had allot to offer
    & not too far from Manila by bus if need be. But none of them could I see myself
    being happy in & having all I NEED. So next up on my list of places
    to explore when I return is Roxas City, ILOILO City & Bacolod

    All great advice! Thanks, again, for sharing your wisdom & experience! :)
    Question: what do you do with your food in the refrigerator/freezer, when the power goes out for a full day? Do you use a backup generator to keep it running?
    Here in central California, the refrigerator is only good for storing food at safe temperatures for about 3-4 hours, with the power out, during the summer. The freezer can safely store food for several extra hours, since I have the empty space filled with ice packs, but a full day outage would be pushing it.

    • @dazeltv1351
      @dazeltv1351  2 місяці тому +1

      You’re welcome my friend.
      If it’s going to be a long power outage like a couple of days due to typhoon; we have small cooler that connects to our Bluetti power station (a must have in the Philippines) to keep frozen items. The Bluetti power station comes with foldable solar panels. We don’t keep a lot of things in our refrigerator and freezer. The public market is walking distance from our house. We often just shop for fresh vegetables and seafood to cook for the day. Most homes here in our province have small refrigerators. And most people shop often at the public wet market; at least 3x a week because they want to get fresh seafood. Fish, oysters, muscles, crab, squid, etc. just don’t have the same texture and taste once you freeze them.

    Another great advice Gino. I could never get used to the brownouts over there because of the heat. I'm ok without AC but not without an electric fan. But I heard the Philippines government wants to activate/reactivate the Nuclear Power plant in Bataan. What are your thoughts about that? Surely that will solve / lessen the country energy needs. I've been to a lot countries that I didn't even knew uses nuclear energy to supplement their energy needs, while I understand there would always be people against it, the fact is with proper care and maintenance, Nuclear power is a viable source of energy.
    FYI in 2024 there are 32 countries that uses nuclear power, the US alone has 94 reactors.

    • @dazeltv1351
      @dazeltv1351  2 місяці тому

      Thank you my friend. Rechargeable fans are popular now in the Philippines. We have a Bluetti power station that can keep our rechargeable fans going for days.
      Just my opinion; I don’t see the Nuclear Power plant in Bataan going online anytime soon. Would cost too much to refurbish. It was built in the 1970s; I can just imagine how degraded the facility is now.

    Good morning Gino, another great informative video🤙 as we have spoken before, we will be selling everything here in the USA and moving to CEBU. My wife is a dual citizen and has her family there in CEBU. I have a question and also if you can advise me please... I have been doing research on the SRRV (Special Retirement Residential Visa) and would like to know if you have experience with this? When you first entered the Philippines, which Visa did you obtain to stay the many years you have there in the Philippines? Do you have knowledge on if I could use the SRRV deposit to go towards the house being built that will be in my wife's name or if they would consider it a joint build similar to how it's done in the USA. Thank you so much Gino and any advice and answers will be appreciated 🤙 take care always and thank you for sharing your videos👍

    • @dazeltv1351
      @dazeltv1351  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you my friend. I did not go the SRRV route. When I first entered the Philippines in 2011; I used the Balikbayan privilege. In 2012, I decided to get my dual citizenship because I wanted to go to school and was required to have a student visa. Easier to just get my dual citizenship. I don’t know if you can use the SRRV deposit towards a house build; would have to research it. I’ll mention it on our future video; if I find out. You’re welcome my friend. Take care. 🤙

    I hear building a fence is normal in the PH to keep out rampant thievery and shabu-deranged addicts. Fair assessment?

    • @dazeltv1351
      @dazeltv1351  2 місяці тому

      We live in a gated community in the province so we don’t have a fence for security; it is safe in our neighborhood. If we lived in a big city like Manila, Cebu City or Angeles City; we would definitely build a tall fence with razor wire to protect our home and property from thieves. I’ve never met or seen any shabu-deranged addicts in my 13 years living in the province here in the Philippines. Living in the city or living in the province in the Philippines are totally different. You have to do your research of an area like anywhere else in the world. It’s like comparing living in East Los Angeles to a ranch in Montana.
