On "Does page loading speed actually matter for SEO?", Brian Dean just had an 8-min video that proves your point. Essentially page with same content that was loading in 1-2 secs ranked the same as a much slower page.
I think there is a lot of truth to this. However, I think speed really matters when a page goes from more like 15 seconds down to 5 seconds. You're not going to see much of a difference when it goes from 6 seconds to 4.5 seconds. At least, this has been my experience. EDIT. I should have watched the video before I posted. I see you explained this.

Building backlinks via email outreach in 2020 is extremely challenging. However, if we done it right way, it Works... People wouldn't ask for money if we build good relationship with the prospects. People ask for money on guest post most of the time.
Hi, I'm a content strategist in our company. I've been doing SEO for our company for almost a year now. One of the challenges I've encountered is the lack of "click value" or "potential business value" of our niche. We're in the competency development industry and we specialize in providing a learning platform or LMS for onboarding and compliance. While there's a great amount of volume for keywords like "compliance" and "onboarding," I can't get much data when I'm already searching for longtail keywords for the said seed keywords compliance and onboarding. I've done many variations and yet it appears that no one are actually searching for the long keywords I created. I'm using Ahrefs by the way for my research keyword tool. It's like things seem to be a dead end for our niche because the data from Ahrefs tell that we can't go further with our parent/seed keywords even with the use of different modifiers. Do you have any thoughts on this? I'd appreciate your input. Thanks.
Excellent and super-informative.. The link-building discussion was depressing but hearing real, honest talk is refreshing. The diminishing returns idea around page speed is a great gut-check too. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi, I have a question, if I buy an old domain that has a good Domain and page authority so I have checked that old pages that are not index right now but created 3 years ago. So redirection that links are the best option or make a new page with the same URL and allow google to index again?
It works well, but it also comes with a ton of other issues. Mainly tracking conversion becomes a nightmare because other platforms haven't caught up with the AMP requirements
Hey Nathan, my client website has thin content and he doesn't want to add blogs or content and wants me to bring his website in first by only links so I acquired Wikipedia links and few relevant links but the site isn't ranking on keywords. What should I do in this case?
To be honest, I wouldn't work with clients that expect results with your hands tied behind your back. Content is a fundamental piece of SEO. Backlinks are fuel on the fire, but they won't be effective if your content and website isn't optimized well.
Thanks for a great video! How do you block hrefs, majestic etc? Is that a good tactic? Well not if you use them I guess? But if you don't and don't plan to?
Hey Nath, you mentioned "adding on-page modifiers" and was about to give an example and then you guys started talking about site architecture😭 can you please explain or point to any resource on how to optimise using modifiers🤟🏿
I have this problem I do not know how to fix, would you kindly tell me what I should do? I have created a new website with Squarespace, then created a new gmail for it and managed to set up Google My Business for it. It got verified and is up and running. Then I connected the website to Google Analytics and Search Console using an old gmail. Then I set up Google Merchant with that old gmail because for verification it needed Google Analytics. Now I have this problem that my Google My Buisness is with new gmail and all my Google Analytics, Search Console and Google Merchant are with the old gmail. Now I want to remove those ( Google Analytics, Search Console and Google Merchant) and transfer it to the new gmail where My Google My Business is . How should I do this without creating more mess consider I have already submitted sitemap and Google has Crawled the website?
Instead of having to beg for a backlink, create link worthy content. So what is link worthy? Case studies, statistics, citates from interviewing an authority person. Adding a very well designed infographics with valuable content. Dont assume anyone is just linking to you because you wrote a great peace of content. Apart from that, if the outreach is taking to much time and effort, you could better use that time to improve your internal linking and website architecture. Try to build real powerfull topic clusters for example instead of spamming for links.
@@nathangotch Thanks for the reply. I am planning to do an experiment. Not building any links to a page, but only mentions targeting brand name, and relevant contents matching the keyword theme, it is also not linked.
You are one of my favorite SEO experts Nathan. I have emailed you a few times, regarding small errors on Gotch SEO, but you haven't replied me... Might be you are super busy.
Believe me, speed is overated. My website doesn't even have plugins and I don't use frameworks. Some of my pages load in less than 1 sec. And yet I haven't seen any significant improvement in terms of ranking.
I'm interested in SEO, but isn't it all just a big scam? Out of the billions of websites out there, who is going to discover anything that hasn't been tried before? Is doing anything going to put the average website owner above the ranking of sites such as Amazon or ebay? The ones telling us it will are all trying to sell us something.

What do you think about AMP? Is that a host for WordPress site.

♥ great video!
Are unlinked mentions adding value? If Google can track brand mentions then isn't it logical to conclude it is indeed a ranking factor?
Too difficult to quantify to be honest
