This is exactly what I was thinking of doing. Your video gave me the confidence to modify the lid and do this for ease of use. Thank you for sharing the video and helping the rest of us so we know it is a sound solution. Well done as usual.
Thank you for the advise on the Lee Load All, I was considering getting one until I seen that it was going to be difficult to empty it. This puts the Lee back on the table when it comes time to get a shot shell reloader.
I bought 2 extra lids for my Lee load All 2 for a dollar each from Lee and use 1 on machine and put the bushings and lid on the bench so there's no way to spill it and less hassle and the other lid I did just that put a hole in the corner use it only for dumping!! Thanks love all your videos!!
very good idea, I just bought a Lee Load All 2 and that was my main question, how to empty the powder and lead tanks... solved question, thanks for sharing and idea.👍
absolute genius! I just watched another video where the guy lamented that he had to invert the entire machine to empty the hoppers. He should watch this one, maybe.
Thanks a lot! Last night I finally bought a bag of #8 magnum shot and set up my Load-All II after months of procrastinating. As I was half way through my first box of shells I was trying to figure out how to empty the thing. I was just going to grab two containers and slide the charge bar back and forth. lol... :P
I would like to add something about the noise the Lee load all makes . The squeaky noise it makes drove me crazy . If you apply an application of lithium grease to the spring that moves inside the square tubing it eliminates the squeaky noise and operates much smoother .
Handy. I just set up my load all 2 and right away put in the wrong shot bushing. This was a big help. Even if it was 108 degrees in my shop to go drill that hole.
Hi, great idea and excellent video. Been wanting to set up a separate table like that - presently I'm using the workshop bench, so with the reloading presses in place, there's very little DIY going on at home right now. Only problem is that the table needs to be stable and not moving around when using the presses, so I though of putting a brick on a bottom shelf of the table to make it steady. All the best.
Did i just see a couple of remaining shot pellets at 5:02 dropping into the powder bin? I would've made a notch in the corner of the lid instead of a hole, this makes it easier to pour out the last pellets as well.
True, although knowing myself, I'd still grab a magnet to get those last ones out. Anyway, thank you for your reviews, your reviews of the Lee Load-All have been the most informative I've seen on UA-cam.
Saludos
I want to buy one of these so I have been watching all the helpful videos on it before I buy it. Just wondering... If you take the bushings out wont the powder or the load just fall out from the bottom?
Great idea, but one suggested improvement. Before emptying the shot hopper, remove the top and place a dryer sheet over the top of the powder hopper and partially over the shot hopper. This stops the powder from migrating through the space between the 2 hoppers into the shot side, and also makes the top fit snug to avoid slipping and making a mess.
Is reloading shot shells easier than rifle cartridges , or about the same? I am interested in getting my first shot gun and was wondering about reloading the shells. Have been shooting for a couple of years but not yet done any re loading.
Shot shells are a bit easier than rifle reloading. Mostly because the sizing process for shotgun shells does not require you to lubricate the shell and then clean the lube off when you are finished as you have to do with rifle ammo.
Seems to me that you do in fact have a lot more "fuss" with your method. For one shell you have taken the shell out of the machine, put it under the powder measure, cycled the measure and put it back on the machine. Times that by 25 for a box of shells. I can use my method to empty the hoppers in a lot less total time than you have added to the loading of just one box.
I like the fact that I can turn the table around to get to the press that I want, quite handy. The other benches in the room have all the crap on them!
Thank you for showing me that MEC brand loaders are still a better choice than LEE. I will continue to use the old antique MEC for as long as I can to avoid this hassle.
I agree a MEC machine is better. However the price of a loader is often a concern and a cheaper Lee machine will get folks into reloading when they might not have if they they had to buy the more expensive MEC. At any rate this video is aimed at people who already have a Lee press.
I do the shot first as getting rid of the shot gets rid of the weight first. If you hold the lid firmly against the hoppers there is no way for the shot and powder to mix.
All the most brilliant innovations seem obvious in retrospect. I did the mod before I was even half way through your video, and tested it. That's how fast it is.

Glad to hear the video is still of use to people, happy reloading!
The simplest fixes are the most easily missed. Great tips thanks.
Thanks.

It's odd that Lee does not promote this method of emptying the hoppers as I think it would make more folks consider purchasing their machine.

It's great that Spare parts are so cheap. Good idea on the extra lid.
Great video! I just bought one of these recently, as I have a plethora of spent shells I kept for eventual reloading. I like the Canadian accent too.
I live mine black powder smokeless it handles them all

Brilliantly simple idea. Thank you for posting this.
+Armed Bear You are welcome.
Damn, I've had one of these for many years and neverr thought of that. I didn't know the top came off so easy. Thanks !!!!
Hopefully this trick proves itself useful to you, it's saved me a lot of hassle.
Another brilliant idea from Canada. Thank you!
Thanks.

So simple yet so effective, Awesome.
Simple is good!

They are rather "sprongy" sounding units. Good tip, I may give that a try.
Love the tip, looking at buying one soon and that would drive me insane
Lubrication helps eliminate a lot of unwanted noises,
Handy. I just set up my load all 2 and right away put in the wrong shot bushing. This was a big help. Even if it was 108 degrees in my shop to go drill that hole.
108 is pretty toasty. Luckily drilling a hole in plastic is pretty quick to do.
Hi, great idea and excellent video. Only problem is that the table needs to be stable and not moving around when using the presses, so I though of putting a brick on a bottom shelf of the table to make it steady. All the best.
The small table is also a bit of space saver, I can have machines mounted on all sides and simply turn the table to get to the machine I want to use.
Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate your advice.
No problem, thanks for commenting.
Have not seen the Load All on the Lee quick release system, was it hard to do with the different lengths in the screws ?
Nick Musuraca Had to grind the ends of a few of the screws off as they were too long and protruded.
Awesome tip! Thank you for making this helpful video.
You are welcome.
Did i just see a couple of remaining shot pellets at 5:02 dropping into the powder bin? I would've made a notch in the corner of the lid instead of a hole, this makes it easier to pour out the last pellets as well.
There might have been a couple stray ones. No big deal IMO.
True, although knowing myself, I'd still grab a magnet to get those last ones out. Anyway, thank you for your reviews, your reviews of the Lee Load-All have been the most informative I've seen on UA-cam.
@@YaoiMastah Since when does lead stick to a magnet? It's 2022 and I don't think that fundamental logic has changed.....yet.
@@Hjerte_Verke Where I'm from, lead pellets are banned. Steel is the norm.
Simple solution, brilliant.
Thanks.

I want to buy one of these so I have been watching all the helpful videos on it before I buy it. Just wondering... If you take the bushings out wont the powder or the load just fall out from the bottom?
+Randy Politte Yes, both the powder and shot will spill out uncontrollably and they will get mixed together, not ideal.

Shot shells are a bit easier than rifle reloading. Mostly because the sizing process for shotgun shells does not require you to lubricate the shell and then clean the lube off when you are finished as you have to do with rifle ammo.
Great tip; Now I know how to lubricate the guide rod more easily too...
While it's apart some heavy grease on the spring can get rid of some of the "sprongy" noise the machine makes.
I just use the Lee perfect powder measure and then the shot bushings on the machine. No fuss no muss.
Seems to me that you do in fact have a lot more "fuss" with your method. Does any have any input ow where I can find out recipes and load data for Winchester shotshell wst ball powder
Winchester brand powder is sold/distributed by Hodgdon Powders. They have load data for WST on their reloading data center.
www.hodgdonreloading.com/
C _ clamp board mounted machine to bench . Then just unclamp to pour out.
Thats a neat little reloading table you got there. :-)
My ones far too big and all the crap in the room tends to gravitate itself onto it! lol
I like the fact that I can turn the table around to get to the press that I want, quite handy. The other benches in the room have all the crap on them!

Wouldn't be better to drain off the powder first? So less chance of cross-contamination of shot and powder. Shot less chance of crossing over.
I do the shot first as getting rid of the shot gets rid of the weight first. If you hold the lid firmly against the hoppers there is no way for the shot and powder to mix.
