It's funny to see how the time change the vision of the people. In the 100's everyone talk as FF7 and 8 be the best. I always love the 9 and always listened it a lot in my teen days. Nowadays, everyone loves the 9, and I feel that the 8 is not so loved anymore. I remember the release of FFX was gigantic, like a GTA release nowadays, as was always praised, and loved. Today, I feel that is very divisive of people loving and hating the game.
The 2000’s were always my golden age for JRPG’s. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit younger and didn’t start seriously playing them until around that time, but this decade had some of the most killer JRPG’s for me. I respect the hell out of the 90’s JRPG’s, but the 2000’s will always be the king for me.
The alternatives in the year 2000 just show how amazing it was for JRPG fans back then. So many stellar games to choose from. Personally, for me it is Breath of Fire 4 which is such an amazing game. And - high quality mainline Final Fantasy games three years in a row.
It feels so good seeing Suikoden 3 and 5 here (as they should 😎🔥) I would personally only switch Radiata Stories with Tales of the Abyss for 2005, despite me not playing the former yet (I intend to!) Abyss is my favorite Tales game so that says a lot!
The list is quite good, my friend. I'm especially grateful for not letting folks to forget, what an incredible games Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant are. But I must say that to me personally, leaving out Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria [2006] and Lost Odyssey [2007] feels almost like a crime against the genre.
Hell yeah! Talked about, platinumed, and extensively reviewed Twilight of the Spirits. Love that game, its world, music, and the ties it has to the previous Arc the Lad titles. Might be a good time to finally get around to Arc the Lad II and Arc the Lad III before you jump back in, eh?
My favorite 2000s JRPGs -Shadow Hearts Covenant -Suikoden V -Final Fantasy X -Valkyria Chronicles -Trails in the Sky trilogy -Wild Arms 3 -Dragon Quest VIII -Xenosaga trilogy
The 2000s! Probably the decade I missed the most since I mostly played a bunch of PS1 RPGs since my dad bought a bunch of them in the 90s and I mostly played the ports of Final Fantasy games on the GBA in the 2000s. But these are my favorites from the years when I have played them. 2000 Grandia II(I still have yet to play Final Fantasy IX) 2001 Golden Sun 2002 Suikoden III( My dad's favorite) 2003 Star Ocean: Til the End of Time 2004 Dragon Quest VIII 2005 Ys VI 2006 Suikoden V 2007 Persona 3 FES 2008 Lost Odyssey 2009 Demon's Souls
Hey, just wanted to say I was a kid who watched your Sprite Survivor Flash series on Newgrounds back in the day. Makes me nostalgic going back to it every couple of years. I read about your successes in life and wanted to say thanks for the memories, congratulations to you and yours.
Thanks mate! Amazing to see that there are still fans around. Still slowly working on remaster (first couple is more like a remake). Nearly done with the first episode. I plan to add full voice acting too!
i am a diehard Star Ocean The Last Hope defender and im glad to see there are others out there. even if the voice acting is bad the actual game was a joy to play for me. and it was my first experience with the star ocean series. i also find most of the bad voice acting endearing? lol
I enjoyed all of these games with the exception of Radiata Stories and Arc the Lad wich I have not played. But that being said our list is not the same lol. 2000 - Final Fantasy IX 2001 - Final Fantasy X 2002 - Xenosaga 1 2003 - Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade 2004 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 2005 - Tales of the Abyss 2006 - Xenosaga 3 2007 - Lost Odyssey 2008 - Persona 4 2009 - Ys Seven
2000 ; Grandia 2 2001 ; Golden Sun 2002 ; Suikoden 3 2003 ; Tales of Symphonia 2004 ; Phantom Brave 2005 ; Fire Emblem 9 and Kingdom Hearts 2, equal at #1, Tales of the Abyss close behind. 2006 ; Persona 3 2007 ; Lost Odyssey 2008 ; Valkyria Chronicles 2009 ; The year jRPGs died.
I finished the game with the human route. Will have to do the other one next time (not that I remember much about what happened, haha. It was so long ago)

You sir, were clearly a product of the 2000s internet forums :)

Trails in the Sky SC clears
Yup. That's my favorite in the entire series.
Shadow Hearts 2 is one of my favorite games and it's definitely worthy of this list.
Choosing SH2 over DQ8 was the right thing to do in my opinion! ❤
Dq8 was amazing, but it was always going to be sh2 for me.
Both are great, but I personally would have gone with dq8.

Yeah, now it's quality FF games 3 DECADES in a row!
It feels so good seeing Suikoden 3 and 5 here (as they should 😎🔥)

Can't help but love star ocean 4. DQ8 is probably my favourite game of all time.
If I had a MySpace back then, MCR would have definitely been part of it.
Yes, I really liked Radiata. Never beat it, but it was good.
Hmm. While Atelier Iris is close, I gotta give 04 to DQ8
Massive kudos for including Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, such an underrated gem that sadly gets overlooked far too often.
It does! Such a great game!
Hell yeah! Talked about, platinumed, and extensively reviewed Twilight of the Spirits. Love that game, its world, music, and the ties it has to the previous Arc the Lad titles. Might be a good time to finally get around to Arc the Lad II and Arc the Lad III before you jump back in, eh?
Hahaha. I probably should. Ill do it just for you.I think I'll just straight into Tots!
Banger list sir, soo many epics during that decade. Even though it was the start of the downfall in later half.
Agree, keep up the great content
Thanks mate. Yeah, titles were scarce as the years went on....
Thanks mate
Arc the Lad 4.... HELL YEAH!
ARC THE LAD WAS AMAZING! That story line was able to deliver shock after shock and it had just the most amazing concepts of its time!

-Suikoden V
-Final Fantasy X
-Valkyria Chronicles
-Trails in the Sky trilogy

It kills me that sky SC and the xenosaga games didn't make the list :(
I still have physical copies of everything but the Trails in the sky trilogy. I hope Smt Digital Devil saga gets the hd or remake treatment.
Agreed 🤩

What about Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2? They're JRPGs produced both by Square Enix and Disney.
i am a diehard Star Ocean The Last Hope defender and im glad to see there are others out there. even if the voice acting is bad the actual game was a joy to play for me. and it was my first experience with the star ocean series. i also find most of the bad voice acting endearing? lol
I was going to be quite disappointed if Suikoden 3 wasn't on the list, glad to see that it was.
Ffix is definitely the best in year 2000, that game has great nostalgia goggles
I enjoyed all of these games with the exception of Radiata Stories and Arc the Lad wich I have not played. But that being said our list is not the same lol.
2000 - Final Fantasy IX
2001 - Final Fantasy X
2002 - Xenosaga 1
2003 - Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
2004 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
2005 - Tales of the Abyss
2006 - Xenosaga 3
2007 - Lost Odyssey
2008 - Persona 4
2009 - Ys Seven
Some games in there that I feel bad for not including, so I'm glad you did.
I totally agreed with your opinion in ffxiii
2000 ; Grandia 2
2001 ; Golden Sun
2002 ; Suikoden 3
2003 ; Tales of Symphonia
2004 ; Phantom Brave
2005 ; Fire Emblem 9 and Kingdom Hearts 2, equal at #1, Tales of the Abyss close behind.
2006 ; Persona 3
2007 ; Lost Odyssey
2008 ; Valkyria Chronicles
2009 ; The year jRPGs died.
2009 was definitely a quiet year
Have not disagreed yet as of 2002...
Agree with FFIX being the best of its year... Disagree about Quina being a lackluster character. S/he's the best!
Hahaha. I just ignored Quina most of the time.
When is Suikoden Remaster coming out? Been forever since the public mention of it announced. I'm ready dammit!
No idea. Not even sure it'll be this year at this rate.
Oh no you played the FFX theme song, cant wait for something bad to happen to your video
You got dem feels?
First!
Dayam, man! Too good!
Lucky. I didn't have enough people to fill my top 8 friends lol
Hahaha. I had some questionable people there 🤔
Proud to say that My chemical romance never made it anywhere near my myspace page 😂
I'm shocked 😲
Great list; Radiata Stories never gets enough love, I went the non-human route
I finished the game with the human route. Will have to do the other one next time (not that I remember much about what happened, haha. It was so long ago)
I don't know half of these omg! THANK YOU
Glad I could help :)
This is still a good list
I hope in the 2010s video that Xenoblade is on the list.
Spoiler alert: absolutely
Hell yeah!!!
The real fans know Quina is goated. I do what I want!
😲 😯 😮 🫨 🫢
Hell Yeah!
Early 2000's: Fantastic
Late 2000's: Abysmal
2010s were pretty rough too
@@HellFireRPGs I think it was basically the opposite, because the rough patch was 2007-ish to 2015-ish, and then it got pretty great again.
Interesting choices..
Probably some unique ones in there. Which ones would you go for?
