He's got some Kirk cousins in him with running ability to extend plays. I like this pickup a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if he won Geno for the starting spot.
If Washington fans think they're better off with Justin Fields or some rookie qb, then they don't understand what it takes to be a good qb! Howell is going to be great!! He needs an offensive line and a little more time to develop. He's the future and can make every nfl caliber pass and great runner, too!
These rookie qbs this year are gonna require time to develop and may not even be as good as some are saying.

Sam might be long-term guy in SEA. He struggled down stretch with TOs, but he showed he's talented enough to start. Had some nice games this yr. Also, not even 25 yet. Seattle is a nice spot because they have a solid starter in Geno, but he's getting older and he's not a star either. It's an ideal bridge. Give him a 2nd go starting on a better run franchise, a little older... I can see it working. Great backup regardless
I’m hoping our new coaching and draft picks tighten up the OL. Watching Howell play, bro has like 3 seconds before his pocket collapses, I think he’ll have less TOs with a better OL, plus he’ll have an insane WR core and a solid rback duo
Sam is good. Seattle getting a good QB. I think if you build a top 15 offensive line around him, he's gonna flourish.
I hated to see him go, but I think a new spot will do him well.
It’s wild that Sam Howell was able to make some of these throws while CONSTANTLY under pressure almost every snap.

Coming from a Washington Commanders fan. I’m sad to see him go, but I’m really happy he will get an opportunity in a different environment. He played so well at the beginning of the year, it really made me wonder how much better he would do in a better situation. Hopefully the Seahawks can be that place for him. Take good care of him 💚
His arm, toughness, and mobility is starting talent
He is the franchise QB. This was basically his rookie season. This was his 2nd offense in 2 seasons. He did very well with a very poor coaching staff. The Commanders would have been smart to keep OC Turner. Howell Regressed under EB. It was clear from the jump EB wasn't a good fit. The Commanders need to keep Howell, he has all the tools necessary. Trade down and acquire future first round picks. Build around Howell and watch him blossom.
Nice to see someone with common sense. Unfortunately I think Washington will obsess over Caleb or Maye. It’s so irritating.

Sam showed all the flashes of a top-tier, playmaking QB, and his 1st season as a starter was no worse than Josh Allen, Matt Stafford, Drew Brees or Trevor Lawrence's. Sam looked as good or better in our shitty situation in his 1st season as a starter than Jalen Hurts did behind the best OL in the NFL, with a strong run game and TE to lean on and Shane Steichen doing such a good job of developing and insulating Jalen that he got a HC job for it.
I think any team bad enough to draft top 5 is too bad to start the timer of a 1st round rookie QB contract. We have a guy with a ton of potential and 2 super cheap years left on his contract. Terry Mclaurin is underrated by the league, but overrated by us Washington fans, he literally dropped the ball with the game on the line last year. We have a likely future HOF pass catcher projected to be on the board at 2 in MHJ, teaming him with Terry & Jahan would give us the best WR corps in the NFL and make things easier for Sam or any future QB. We also have 2 more top 40 picks at the top of the second to tap into this deep talented OL Class. I think MHJ, 2 top 40 OL & a TE at the top of the 3rd does WAY more to help this team than taking a QB at 2 instead.

@@idk88876 I think this staff is perfect to maximize Forbes and BSJ though. BSJ falls into the type DQ liked in Seattle big Sherman/Maxwell types and Forbes is a turbocharged version of Diggs/Bland our staff just sucked last year since Chris Harris left.

I see a lot of Brett Favre when I watch Sam Howell play. He’s definitely a gunslinger out there with a pair of brass balls. That can get you in trouble at times, but it can also win you games that other QB’s can’t. With a better supporting cast this dude can be a legit starter in the NFL.

It'll be a year or two before Sam Howell has a chance to start for Seattle (I could be very wrong), and right now, he's a very good backup QB at a VERY low price (previously being a 5th-round pick).

Treat Sam Howell well! Sam is an absolute tank and will do everything to get the job done! A couple things here first. He does hold the ball a bit long at times but i believe that can be fixed which brings me to my next point. O-LINE. Anywhere but DC. Im not familiar with Seattle’s roster but I’m sure their line was better than ours this season. Sam’s deep ball accuracy is fine tuned! Feed DK!! EB did horrible as OC!! Again, treat Sam well and develop him as much as you can this off season and pre season. Good luck Sam and good luck Seattle!!
The dude is clearly extremely talented. John Snider really wanted to draft him. He finally got what he wanted... hopefully the Hawks can do for him what they did for Geno even though Pete is gone. I bet he's super excited to be a Hawk!

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American and male. I KNEW that Sam Howell would pan out!! I wanted the Seahawks to draft him! He reminds me of Russell Wilson, without the off-field drama. He IS our QB of the future! He's MY kind of quarterback!

The play starting at 3:35 is reallly special. He has elite athletic instincts and maneuverability. His ability to scramble is more than just tuck it and go, it's way more dangerous. When Sam How runs, he's creating art.
People sleep on him and they should not, he's the real deal. Just needs solid O-line, solid coaching, and he's your guy. To me his upside is Baker Mayfield with plus plus athletic and playmaking ability.

I am watching some really good decisions from this guy. He is solid and QUICK in his pocket, and this highlight film shows that he can be a sniper… with wheels. This is gonna be interesting this pre season.

I like Howell's strong arm, fakes, toughness, going through progressions, hanging in the pocket BETTER than Geno!! Howell has upside! We've seen the BEST of Geno and I like Geno as a man but Howell has potential and to not lose picks just swap is great 4 the Hawks!

Howell i think is a sneaky pick to becoming great, i get he ended with 20 ints, but in the first half of the season, he was excellent, he just needs to clear his mind of that 2nd half, then i think he will do great.
I see a promising QB. Great touch on the ball, knows when scramble to keep plays alive, and a tenacious runner. He's going to a better-run organization with a better offense around him and better defense to keep him grounded as a QB. I love the pickup for the Seahawks.

I like his tenacity and he seems to have a good touch on his medium passes.
I believe Seahawks can help him minimize his INT mistakes and protect him even better.

Sam may not be the starter next year but him serving as a backup makes me comfortable about the QB room.
Better play calling, running and wrs actually catching the ball will really help Sam.

@@diver7799 the thing is we all know what Sam needs to work on and i truly believe that DQ, KK, and BJ all can develop him. I understand taking a QB at #2 but there's so many variables with them instead of the ones we already know Sam has.
@jacoboneil9406 The reality is none of these QBs in the draft are top 15 talent they are all project players at best. They are not Luck or stroud or Joe B. They are the best of this class a class that's weak at QB. We should trade back a couple picks and grab more draft capital and take a LT the most important position on offense. Than draft a QB later in the draft and let him compete with Howell.

Dude was sacked 60 times and 28 INTs but most of the times interceptions cone from pressure and the qb not wanting to get sacked so the force the ball. I expect him to throw 8p% less ints with a o line and expect tulia tagoviloa to make seattles 53 man roster and maybe even beat out geno or sam

RR & EB ruined this kids future in WAS. Watching this shows that EB's schemes took too long to develop. A lot of pocket collapsing when a majority of receivers still have their backs to the QB.
Excited to see what Sam can do in Seattle. Hawks have better structure and play makers than the Commanders.
I think hes underrated. A lot of qbs fall off because they dont get a legit chance with the right offense to succeed. Seattle might be able to crack the code for him and dont need to draft a qb in 2025.
I also hate how quickly these teams give up on qbs. Like, look how well being patient with Josh Allen was for Buffalo. Normalize letting qbs play through their rookie contracts again. I get it if a guy is clearly not ot, or youre in line to get something you just cant pass up, like the Bears getting Caleb. But is Sam so much worse of a prospect than Daniels? I dont think so. I think the Cammanders had far more value to trade down and give Same another couple years to figure things out.
