Zack Snyder's Justice League: Why That CREEPY Flash Scene Deserved to Be Cut. Zack Snyder's Justice League proves that one scene focused on Ezra Miller's Flash should have remained on the cutting room floor.
One of the biggest edits the theatrical cut of Justice League made was omitting Kiersey Clemons' Iris West. Fans were excited to see her cameo as it was undoubtedly a setup for Ezra Miller's Flash movie, but it was deemed expendable in the two-hour run-time.
However, after being inserted into Zack Snyder's Justice League, a creepy scene with Iris plays out, making it clear that axing it was the right choice.
Adding some depth to Barry Allen isn't the problem. Snyder spends most of his movie making Flash more likable, but in this scene, he comes off as toxic, and it really doesn't paint the speedster in the most altruistic light. The moment focuses on him applying for a job at a doggy day-care, locking eyes with Iris as she leaves. It's melodramatic and romantic, similar to what's been done on The CW, but it begins to go wrong when she drives off. The scene's set in slow motion, with her not taking her eyes off Barry, which is strange because her car's in motion. At the lights, she's t-boned by a truck, whose driver was trying to find his burger that fell on the floor in what's a really ridiculous set of unfortunate events.
As Iris' car flips and she's tossed out, Barry speeds through the glass, but rather than grab her mid-air immediately, he grabs a hot dog from a cart that was thrown in the air and uses the Speed Force for some stalking. He fawns over Iris for a long moment, even brushing her hair out her face. This goes on for way too long, and in the end, is a total invasion of privacy. Snyder tries to lighten the mood by setting it to Rose Betts' piano cover of "Song to the Siren," but even that can't mask the toxicity.
Barry eventually sets her down before running away as her vehicle explodes, but while the intention is to show him saving a damsel in distress, it really depicts him as a creep. Of course, Snyder did cut the horrific shot of Barry falling into Wonder Woman's chest when they suit up later on, but it doesn't help that Barry goes on to ogle Diana and ask Cyborg if he thinks she dates younger guys.
When taking all of this into consideration, Barry comes out looking like someone who doesn't respect boundaries. Had the car scene remained cut, one might have given Barry the benefit of the doubt as an overzealous Wonder Woman fanboy with a crush. But ultimately, rather than giving off the impression of a genuine, caring hero, the car sequence makes Barry out to be someone that needs to learn a thing or two about respect.

I love how they show the power of his superspeed as he absolutely destroys objects he touches. Something the TV show just can't do as well. I also love how much control he has of his superspeed. This and the quicksilver scene in apocalypse are 2 of my favorite scenes.
Zack Snyder treated super speed as this mythological and god-like superpower, something the other live action speedsters have failed to capture (although the Days of Future Past Quicksilver scene was awesome)

The show sometimes nerfs Barry for plot purposes, but often treats his speed very much the same - with Barry able to time travel at will, able to go into a "the world is still" mode called Flashtime, and regularly setting his civilian shoes on fire. There's nothing shown here that hasn't at least once been a plot point on the show. In fact, one of Barry's show powers he could have used in this scene is missing - Barry in the show has intangibility powers and could have just passed through the glass rather than shatter it.

Based on how he reacted, I'm guessing Barry was so distracted by Iris that he left the Speed Force by accident, then he panics and runs when he realizes she can see him.

I can't help but feel Zack has his daughter in mind while directing this masterpiece. The amount of care and gentleness Barry shows Iris here could be the same as a father would towards his little princess. RIP

Great scene. Nothing creepy about it. Flash has all the time in the world to save Iris. That’s the point. While Barry is in this super speed world he is alone, safe, alienated. A car crash to him, while grotesque to us, can become a beautiful snapshot. And Barry, being a bit of a weird loner, he plays in this moment of isolation but still saves the day. Beautiful

What really took me here is how gentle Barry was with Iris.
He could have rushed and worried to get her out of the car but instead he very carefully folded her arms over so she’d be safe and secure once he left the Speed Force.
Plus the fact that he seems most at peace while moving fast as well.
The point is that he would have ripped her apart if he had done it faster. Snyder takes this stuff seriously while other creators simply say "nah, it's ok. A speedster can just grab someone and pull them away". No, they can't. They are so fast that they would destroy everything they move at that crazy speed.
This leads to him being so careful and tender with her - giving the scene such a romantic feel.
Synder Flash is used to the speed force almost mastered it, he knows that if he goes too fast something happen "flashpoint", Synder Flash isnt afraid of saving or attacking parademons but Weadon Flash is afraid of being a hero, saving, attacking, and has no clue about anything regarding the speed force. Synder Flash wants to be a hero and is, he wishes he could save his dad and mom but its too in the past. Also this song was made for the 2021 release, for Synder daughter that passed

@@6lack863 If I remember right batman calls him Flash (or it might of been "Barry") one time in the movie to calm him down because hes getting too excited (before Cyborg shows the superman hologram) and the flash mentions not only that he had gone fast enough to cause weird distortions in time and physics and thus is why he avoids going that fast (he mentions it when they need power to powerup the motherbox). He also literally runs back in time (time travel) to save the earth at the end of the movie.

My favorite scene from any movie. I didn't even really enjoy this movie much, but this scene was really amazing. I can't think of a single other scene on film that has been so beautiful, thoughtful and touching all without a single word spoken. It's perfection.

I disagree. I liked the scene. Do not try to make clear dislike for Ezra into a critique of the movie. The truth is evident. I thought it was a revealing scene that showed Barry was lonely and a hero.

Two things that made the scene works so well besides the incredibly angelic iris floating in the air like that. First the physical reaction of Barry's footwear as he moves too quickly for the sneakers to keep up. And second was that homage to his silver age origin; a waitress dropped a hotdog and fries and he could see them moving in slow motion, slow enough for him to just take the food and put everything back in the way it was before she tripped. I also like how he has to be careful with Iris when he's maneuvering her into a position where he can catch her and cradle her to the asphalt unharmed. At the speed he's traveling, even the slightest touch of her body can make it move in a certain direction. The fact that he broke the ground by just sliding to stop shows how much power his velocity contains with just a minor sprint out the door. Brilliant job by both actors and by the VFX. This makes Ezra Miller's Barry Allen more competent and less of the forced comic relief he was in the Whedon cut.
All of what you said is true but unfortunately it makes up only the kernel of the context. How is nobody seeing that we don't yet even know that Barry is shy? WE KNOW because if what happens later, but from a narrative perspective his choices don't make any sense. My GF saw this scene and thought it was creepy, it only made more sense to her later when she realized how sweet he was but essentially this scene is complete bias and fan service. It makes no sense and completely out of place.
He's also moving much faster than he would normally be going. He fell in love with Iris at first sight. It's one of those moments in your life where you feel everything is moving slow-motion. Now find yourself being able to attach to the speedforce and do just that.
also if barry hits Iris in the slightest way due to panick then that would have been enough to break her bones from the momentum. It is excellently shown by the directors. A GREAT ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO THE TEAM!!!!
This scene was well-worked, it's a mixed of feelings: action, romantic, comic and heroism. And that's why it is so awesome to see. ❤️

Let's take a moment to speak on how this man spent a good 30 seconds reaching for a burger, gasing tf out of the pedal not even slowing down a little bit or giving af what he crashes into. He is the villan of the next Movie.
The music is what really makes this scene for me. And it was made specifically for the Snyder Cut, so even if the scene was in the original, it would’ve been a different song.
It’s a shame what all Zack went through, but we would’ve never gotten this film in it’s current state if he hadn’t. Hope he knows how many people love it ❤️

This scene is beautiful. We see flash destroying pretty much anything he touches while hes in the speed force without even trying. The amount of gentleness and care he would have to put in to save Iris must have been like a surgeon operating at a table.

0:49 - 0:57 I like the attention to detail that Barry has to take very small steps when running because when he's moving that fast gravity doesn't effect him as it normally would so if he jumps he might get launched into the air for moving so fast at that speed. And seeing Barry break the glass and road gives you a sense of just how powerful this Flash's physical abilities are. That's why he gently holds Iris instead of straight up grabbing her, because he knows that when moving at that speed he could easily kill someone with a single touch.

If you listen to the lyrics closely, it actually makes more sense from Iris's perspective than from Barry's. I'm guessing this scene would have lead to Iris wanting to find out more about Barry afterwards, and that's how they would eventually meet and become lovers.

Not gonna lie, this scene gets me emotional every time I watch it.. Not sure why. I don't cry often but this entire scene just punches me right in the feels... so beautifully done they never should have cut it from the original.
One of the details i appreciate so much is when he rotates her, he does it so slowly as not to kill her.
