I know some people would disagree, but i think Touhou deserves at least one spot within Death Battle. Its a series that celebrates Japanese and other cultures
Not to mention they have enough fun powers and personalities that they can easily bounce off of a ton of different opponents. Granted, Death Battle has shown they can do a lot even when fighters have limited skillsets, but these characters have more opportunities for great action. For example, imagine DIO’s reaction when he stops time just to see Sakuya running around picking up or throwing all of her knives.
My big fear is that, since Touhou isnt very clear with a lot of stuff (it is a very involved verse), that Death Battle is going to screw up with calculations or skills. Like Infinite Speed, or the jusifications for the verse being Multiversal (and other stuff like Reimu's powers, or the fact that spell card rules arent the be all end all, yknow)? @@lucasm.3864

The characters inverse only fight mock battles designed to be non-fatal and basically equalize the powers of characters so that gods can fight normal people. There's no president for death matches in touhou. So how would you even scale 2hus when they always have a power limiter on inverse and simply wouldn't fight like that in a serious situation

The animation can just have her not keep it active the entire time, but explain in the analysis that she has that option. 2) Spell Card Battles only work if both parties are a part of that system. Seeing as DIO doesn’t have any Spell Cards, Sakuya doesn’t have to worry about it. 3) Even if she had to be restricted, the duels are supposed to “generally” be non-lethal, meaning an “accident” in this battle can occur. 4) You can still scale her (at the very least) to all of the Spell Cards she has been able to tank.
Lethal battles do take place in Touhou, actually - and even under SCR battles, people have died. Some characters have the entire theming and gimmick of their spell card set to straight up kill you. Wild and Horned Hermit's final battle had Kasen trying to seriously kill Reimu.@@hypotrain

I am, in fact, one of those five people who have actually read the novels of When They Cry and want to see it on the show. It's very different from what DB usually tackles, but the potential for the analysis of its deeper meanings and the rather *different* way a lot of the characters fight would be more than worth seeing it get on (My most wanted is Featherine VS Mandrakk btw; it's quite literally Galactus VS Unicron but even more batshit insane and even more thematic) Nice list my guy

Some cases might be easier for Makoto to solve while others might be easier for Phoenix, but that doesn't tell us who's smarter.

Medaka, and Bobobo are two iconic folk that people think of when they think of over-the-top, bullcrap level Meta, and OP anime/manga characters. It's something I would love to see personally.
I strongly disagree with Danganronpa in one-off. Yes, Monokuma vs. Koro Sensei is the big one, but Izuru and Mukuro would also be really cool to see. And Junko should have her own too, in the same way Red used Charizard even after Charizard appeared by itself. Danganronpa has some real potential. And for Ice Age (yes, seriously), Buck and Scrat would be cool too.
Toko’s got a few semi-popular matchups too, and while I know I’m the only person who wants this, Monaca Towa vs Ghetsis from Pokemon BW would go so hard thematically.

Good animation potential too for 3/4ths of them thanks to the comics, animated series, and games.

Since no one else will probably do it, I will be the one to say ARMS does have a few unique matchups. Springman vs Springman (from Kinnikuman) is a funny one and some have said Mechanica vs Tron Bonne. But I'm personally a fan of Min Min vs Chun-li. You have the dynamic of female Chinese martial artists and the most well known females from their respective franchises, but you have the punch vs kick dynamic. Yeah it's a stomp for Chun, but I do think it's Min Min best and would be a good way to get a modern ep for Chun

Honestly the only deathbattle i genuinely need is KH Goofy vs Luigi. Tall, lanky fucks in green, who are loyal to a fault to their friend who wears red, and surprisingly smart and always brave when it counts. Mario and kingdom hearts scaling are both wild and you can argue star+ for both of them. there's plenty of ways they could play off each other but the best image i have in my head is luigi doing his high jump uppercut and goofy jumping up to knock him back down with the goofy smash like the sleight in COM. It'd work great for a sprite battle or a 3d one. i love goofy in both artstyles and luigi has never not been a bad bitch. For the death i'd like to see luigi suck goofy up with the poltergust and goofy tries to swim away in the air like his days glide animation but he isnt fast enough and gets sucked back but he thinks fast and plugs the tube up with his shield and a huge explosion happens. and thats how the death goes cause i cant see either of them outright going for the kill in a way that stays true to the characters. who ever they determine the loser dies in the explosion

I was most interested in what you would say on Getter Robo and Ace Attorney. For Getter Robo, while I do like Gurren Lagann vs Getter, I do think Mazinger just fits much better as a legacy match between the 2 oldest Mecha anime/Manga series out there, and yeah while Kyle vs Simon has died down. If the episode ever happen I can see Death Battle just deciding Simon wins lol. Also as someone who loves Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton, yes Phoenix has feats, mostly durability ones but they can actually fight one another lol.

They were created together by career partners and friends Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa under Dynamic Productions and have crossed over many times in the last 50+ years, that's their legacy. Nagai created Mazinger Z in 1972, introducing internal piloting to the mecha genre, and Ishikawa created Getter in 1974, introducing combining machines to the mecha genre. But the earliest series in mecha, as it's recognized today, would be Tetsujin 28-go (localized in the west as Gigantor) and Giant Robo, both created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama in I believe the late 50s or early 60s. He also created Sally the Witch iirc which is considered the prototype magical girl anime.

A remedy-verse character would be awesome to see. Alan is the obvious choice, but it's tricky, cause Alan isn't really a character that fights. He's all powerful, but he has to be in the Dark Place, and he also doesn't know his own limits because he's canonically a dumbass. Jesse Faden is far more viable as a fighter, since she has actual abilities and feats far more suited to Death Battle, though I don't really know what a matchup for her would look like. Remedy-verse is so complicated and weird that it's so hard to explain everything. Do check out the games though, they are all excellent

I think an actual consideration for a lord death opponent could be grim from the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy, if either are really wanted for death battle. Super powerful embodiments of death, that have connections to odd children, and are usually super goofy, and have pretty serious moments here and there

I'd like to see Jashugan from Alita take on Captain Falcon: -The champions of a lethal racing series in their respective worlds. -Both have stories that tie into the racing they are known for in the public perception but are not well known to the public. -Both have stories that involve the big bad of their respective series. -It's a crazy racing mma cyborg with off-brand spider sense vs. Carzy racing bounty hunter with fire powers.
I'd like to make a case for Shinji Ikari VS Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica, though it includes spoilers for the Madoka movies and the Rebuild continuity for EVA: individuals who did not have the best upbringings being conscripted into a war not of their making who's franchises have multiple outcomes across multiple continuities, some of the more well known giving them basically super forms (Devil Homura and the versions of Shinji with red and purple eyes that I refer to as Worldbreaker and One Above All form respectively). You could have the fight set up be them fighting over the combined lance of Longinus and Casius with both of them devolving further into their apocalypse bringer forms that eventually ends with one or the other stabbing the loser with the mcguffin of the battle. You could even have the loser push the lance into themselves and go "I still won" to the winner, wiping out both of their respective troubles (NERV, SEELE, the Angels and the Witches).
1:25:54 It really should be in the As, but itt’s in the Es for “Edge of Tomorrow” the extremely loose movie adaptation. I love both the manga and movie, but it’s absolutely in the “Actively Don’t Want” category for me. It doesn’t work well with DB as a format. Every notable character at their peak is a wall buster with a time rewind on death, so they have the issue where they either have an obvious guaranteed win or have to fight someone who negates the ability that defines their entire story. It’s similar to doing a match with Natsuki Subaru.

I disagree with Hollow Knight being in one off, Hornet has some opponents like Undyne from Undertale and Specter Knight from Shovel Knight and could get more opponents when Silksong comes out.

As a borderlands fanatic, it has some really fun matchups. I personally would love Handsome Jack regardless of opponent but there's some with interesting fights outside of him.

Since no one else will probably do it, I will be the one to say ARMS does have a few unique matchups. Springman vs Springman (from Kinnikuman) is a funny one and some have said Mechanica vs Tron Bonne. But I'm personally a fan of Min Min vs Chun-li. You have the dynamic of female Chinese martial artists and the most well known females from their respective franchises, but you have the punch vs kick dynamic. Yeah it's a stomp for Chun, but I do think it's Min Min best and would be a good way to get a modern ep for Chun

Honestly the only deathbattle i genuinely need is KH Goofy vs Luigi. Tall, lanky fucks in green, who are loyal to a fault to their friend who wears red, and surprisingly smart and always brave when it counts. Mario and kingdom hearts scaling are both wild and you can argue star+ for both of them. there's plenty of ways they could play off each other but the best image i have in my head is luigi doing his high jump uppercut and goofy jumping up to knock him back down with the goofy smash like the sleight in COM. It'd work great for a sprite battle or a 3d one. i love goofy in both artstyles and luigi has never not been a bad bitch. For the death i'd like to see luigi suck goofy up with the poltergust and goofy tries to swim away in the air like his days glide animation but he isnt fast enough and gets sucked back but he thinks fast and plugs the tube up with his shield and a huge explosion happens. and thats how the death goes cause i cant see either of them outright going for the kill in a way that stays true to the characters. who ever they determine the loser dies in the explosion

For Getter Robo, while I do like Gurren Lagann vs Getter, I do think Mazinger just fits much better as a legacy match between the 2 oldest Mecha anime/Manga series out there, and yeah while Kyle vs Simon has died down. If the episode ever happen I can see Death Battle just deciding Simon wins lol.
Also as someone who loves Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton, yes Phoenix has feats, mostly durability ones but they can actually fight one another lol.
Mazinger Z and Getter Robo are not the oldest mecha series by a long shot. They were created together by career partners and friends Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa under Dynamic Productions and have crossed over many times in the last 50+ years, that's their legacy. Nagai created Mazinger Z in 1972, introducing internal piloting to the mecha genre, and Ishikawa created Getter in 1974, introducing combining machines to the mecha genre.
But the earliest series in mecha, as it's recognized today, would be Tetsujin 28-go (localized in the west as Gigantor) and Giant Robo, both created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama in I believe the late 50s or early 60s. He also created Sally the Witch iirc which is considered the prototype magical girl anime.

A remedy-verse character would be awesome to see. Alan is the obvious choice, but it's tricky, cause Alan isn't really a character that fights. He's all powerful, but he has to be in the Dark Place, and he also doesn't know his own limits because he's canonically a dumbass.
Jesse Faden is far more viable as a fighter, since she has actual abilities and feats far more suited to Death Battle, though I don't really know what a matchup for her would look like.
Remedy-verse is so complicated and weird that it's so hard to explain everything. Do check out the games though, they are all excellent

-Death Battle highly-requested combatants and/or matchups based on how much you want them to come and/or how likely it is for them to come.
-Death Battle characters ranked based on how much you like them...as their worst to you versions of themselves.
I think an actual consideration for a lord death opponent could be grim from the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy, if either are really wanted for death battle. Super powerful embodiments of death, that have connections to odd children, and are usually super goofy, and have pretty serious moments here and there

I'd like to make a case for Shinji Ikari VS Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica, though it includes spoilers for the Madoka movies and the Rebuild continuity for EVA: individuals who did not have the best upbringings being conscripted into a war not of their making who's franchises have multiple outcomes across multiple continuities, some of the more well known giving them basically super forms (Devil Homura and the versions of Shinji with red and purple eyes that I refer to as Worldbreaker and One Above All form respectively). You could have the fight set up be them fighting over the combined lance of Longinus and Casius with both of them devolving further into their apocalypse bringer forms that eventually ends with one or the other stabbing the loser with the mcguffin of the battle. You could even have the loser push the lance into themselves and go "I still won" to the winner, wiping out both of their respective troubles (NERV, SEELE, the Angels and the Witches).

Every notable character at their peak is a wall buster with a time rewind on death, so they have the issue where they either have an obvious guaranteed win or have to fight someone who negates the ability that defines their entire story.
