Would love to see a video like this for Capcom's early arcade games. Something like the earliest game to the end of the CPS1's life. Incredible collection of their NES work!!
Thank you so much for sharing the story of Takeshi Tateishi. The Mega Man 2 soundtrack is one of the best, if not THE best soundtrack to any game ever made, with Dr Wily Stage 1-2 standing as the best piece of video game music ever composed. It's been my favourite ever since I first played back in the 90s, and even my 8 year old self could recognize this greatness. If I had known Takeshi hadn't been complemented in person for the soundtrack prior to 2013, I would have personally gone to Japan just to complement him on it. I love the factoid: "Director Akira Kitamura eas particularly fond of Wily Stage 1". My first thought was "Yeah! As should anyone with functioning ears!".
Excellent work Bucky! You had a ton of stuff in here that I had never read before, and to put it all in chronological order really puts it in perspective. Loved it :)
Thanks so much, glad you dug it! A lot of credit goes to Oliver, who's done a lot of hacking of Capcom NES music and has learned their sound engine inside and out. He informed me of a lot of the very technical stuff - why the game genie glitches our their early batch of games, how the triangle is clicky because of leaving and returning to the audible range, etc. :)
This is all the information I researched over the past 15 years when I was obsessed with Capcom & Konami music put into video format. Very well done. I listened and read everything all the way through.
2010 street fighter is the most underrated game Ive ever seen... it has my favourite soundrack of all capcom NES games... cant believe people hate it for just a name... Its not even that hard when you get used to controls... you have so much moves there its incredible
*Most composers on their first soundtrack for an early game system:* I'm still learning the ropes, but I'll do my best! *Takashi Tateishi:* I'm about to go so hard, it'll make diamond jealous.
You forgot the ones for Yo! Noid, G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor, Mickey Mousecapade, Snow Bros., and The California Raisins: The Grape Escape (unreleased).
Ah, most of those were omitted on purpose (mentioned at the end of the video description). But it's possible I made an error in my reasoning, maybe it could be argued that some of those should be on here. I also did entirely forget about The California Raisins too.
Mickey Mousecapade is Hudson Soft's game Snow Bros is Toaplan's Game Yo! Noid's NSF Driver is not Capcom's G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor's NSF Driver is not Capcom's Exed Exes (NES Version) Publisher: Tokuma Shoten. Gold Medal Challenge '92's NSF Driver is Make Software's. Ide Yousuke Meijin no Jissen Mahjong 2's BGM Listen Like Capcom's Style But isn't Capcom's NSF Driver.

Yes! That was something I had never heard of before, but it makes perfect sense!

Could you do this for Sunsoft’s releases please? I’m a big fan of their work on NES, and I want to learn more about them and their sound hardware.
Up.
Very nice, thanks !

Not sure why you left out TaleSpin. Otherwise, great video. On par with your Konami NES video.
I'm disappointed there was no comments on Darkwing Duck's music, it has that very jazzy sound to it
Ah yes 1942. The soundtrack to make ears bleed.
I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Clay Hendrix i would suggest FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
24:07... Enough Said.
Why didnt capcom ever use dpcm tho?
Section Z was the first obviously Capcom style track.
1942... it's like the auditory equivalent of having a stroke.
Nice!! No TaleSpin though?
did Junko compose the arcade/CPS version of Little Nemo? The music in this track is identical other than the sounds/samples used.
GOOD
You omitted TaleSpin LOL
TaleSpin isn't Non-Capcom Game and It's same as Capcom's NSF Driver
Yeah I must've just missed that one by accident, dang.
