4.9.24 - School Board Meeting Recap

RPS School Board Clerk Karen MacLaughlin gives a short summary of some of the highlights from the April 9 School Board Regular Meeting.
Topics discussed:
The Board recognized student achievements in activities and athletics throughout the district.
The focus topic for the night was Youth Empowerment Strategy. The Board viewed a presentation on youth voice and leadership, what we are doing, and what we can do better. Following the presentation, the focus of the conversation was to listen to the students and hear what they want to learn about rather than telling them what they should learn about.
The Board received an update from the School Resource Officer (SRO) contract renewal and looked at significant SRO data separate from district discipline data.
The Board will vote on the next steps regarding the AIPAC Letter of Nonconcurrence observations and the recommendations that came with it on the April 23, 2024, School Board regular meeting.
RPS Online changed its school name to MNSync Online, effective immediately.
