- The start of the 2022 Formula One season has been a very hard one for Carlos Sainz and Ferrari, but can he still turn it around? I don't know...

Here before Sainz is the 2022 World Championship
Living in an alternate universe are we? Nothing against Carlos because he's an amazing driver but not this year
I’m sorry but that’s not happening
same here
@@ILikeRice88924 no optimism? 🤨
@@propork do you seriously think Ferrari will allow Sainz to win over Leclerc
I believe in Carlos. He will bounce back❤
I hope so🤍
He will but when is the question
I shure hope he does
...I think others are bouncing harder...
@@LathropLdST is that a porpoising joke?
after his mclaren stint and his first year at ferrari, it’s clear to see that you should never count sainz out
he is not in the counting at all. Acxept it nobody thinks he is in the title race.
Saint admitted several times that he doesn’t feel good in the car. He has to think about driving while driving. That is why he slower than lec. But I would t count him out just yet. Lec is a risk taker, and he will crash too.
sainz is literally a DC. DC outscored mika in 1997 but when a championship contending car came around, it was obvious as to who was better... likely same situation here.
@@citoante or hes just mad that he cant beat his younger teammate and finds excuses for it? Sainz crashed more times this season than Leclerc…
With a sample size of 4 races, I feel like it's WAAAY too early to judge. We should probably revisit this after 8 races once everything balances out a bit more.
I was literally about to make this comment lol
Sainz luck has to change, i think and hope it will come good at the next round. He works well at new tracks so please god all comes good for him.
it’s not just his luck, he needs to stop making mistakes while driving the car to the limit
Luck? He had 3 crashes and 2 of them were clearly his fault
@@Michael-vc3kc Yes i think the pressure to out preform this team mate is having a affect. I think he knows if he doesn't out preform his team mate the team will ask for his supporting roll sooner than later. So if he does his bit and with a little luck, i think he will do well.
@@kdm6287 not being able to withstand pressure has nothing to do with luck tho
Who knows, he probably will win a race in Miami but again, let's see.
sainz is a brilliant driver but even if his unlucky 2 race streak ends, in terms of pure pace he is just slower than leclerc. The reason he beat leclerc last year was not because he was faster but because he made less mistakes and was more consistent. In my opinion sainz is like a better version of perez who should average around third place this season and if ferrari's car continues to be good for the next few years he could have a rosberg season where he sacrifices absolutely everything to beat leclerc once.
Sainz being the next Rosberg winning by finally beating his teammate? Sounds really epic
Pretty sure he did have mechanical failures in Austrailia, he couldn't start the car in q1 and in the racestart eventhough he had a decent reaction time he still got passed by like 3 cars, that's literally why they had to change his engine
He made a mistake mate
@@geertwilders4806 that was after his bad start caused by a mechanical issue and Ferrari putting him on a bad tire choice
@@nobrakes7892 one thing is to have problems in the car.
But other very different, is making a mistake that left you out of the race.
Even Magnussen went offroad in the same place Sainz did, but he could keep the car and keep racing
@@zacariascisneros6399 bruh sainzs and kmags incident completely completely different their speed ,trajectory everything and it was his mistake i didnt say it wasnt
His DNF was not caused by a mechanical issue…
Carlos always improves into the second half, remember his bad luck in 2020 first half and how he turned it around and overtook norris by season end?
Big problems:
-This is not midfield anymore, if he wants the championship. Every point counts.
-He doesn't have as rival just Charles, but also both Red Bull.
-If he doesn't improve soon, he'll definitely be the 2nd driver.
@@zacariascisneros6399 The worst scenario is that, he will be Eddie Irvine.
till that time it will be over for him lol
Last year and earlier he was expected to perform well just to get points. This year this is total different in comparison to those earlier years in his F1 career.
- He has now a car that has pace to be able to get poles, get wins, and more importantly get the championship. Non of the cars he has driven ever before where able to do it any of that so this is a ENTIRELY different kind of ball game compared to his past drives.
- With Last year Ferrari it was only for rebuilding still so pressure isn't as high and mistakes wasn't so bad for him as he wasn't supposed to challenge the top 2 teams. This year changes that entirely now he is expecting to be 1st, 2nd, lowest is third with the car cause it has the outright pace and in races more importantly which the past cars didn't have. Anything less is not great cause of the performance of the car and will hurt way more for him. He knows that too and will need to focus on more.
- In the past Losting 10th sometimes in a midfield car not a bad deal expect varying performace from the car track for. This year Losing EVEN pole will hurt him badly as he knows that the car is fast enough to get it. Let alone a win is possible which is eating him knowing that it is very much possible now and his best chances for him to get a win now is possible. Let alone a championship. That's the major differences. Which builds on him he now needs to perform far better than the past.
Note he doesn't even blame the car performance aka the car's pace it has in every interview only his driving style. He knows the car is awesome enough to be 1st he just needs to perform against Max and Charles.
I'd love if you made video on Tsunoda soon. He's been showing signs of real improvement this year and is slowly becoming a solid midfield driver
You know it's worrying when the gap between Charles and Max is bigger than the gap between Ferrari and Red Bull.
Turns out RB had the best grid pairing all along...
Why is that worrying?
@@hitolfadler Charles might have a great advantage, but the team doesn't...
Haha lol yeah, Ferrari saying they have the best, Mercedes saying they actually have the best pairing, but RB is actually the best lol
People are so quick to overreact, I swear lol. We're still very early in the season. For all we know, he could end up driving the rest of the season without any mistakes. Carlos has shown his ability to bounce back every single season he's driven in F1. There's 0 need to be worried until we're at least half a season into it.
SAINZ JUST CROSSED THE LINE AND HIS WORLD CHAMPION 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🥂🥇🥇🥇🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🏆🏆🏆🏆
He wants to prove himself too badly. He needs to accept the journey that his Ferrari years are gonna be instead of trying to beat Charles so desperately, because he simply isn't there yet.
He has so much electornic fails, starter, steering wheel and so on.... He's just unlucky, but it's a long season.
Ferrari does not have the “clearly the fastest car”
yeah, the races where ferrari was faster, it was not by much, but red bull was much faster in imola
@@askeladden450 stfu fit u watch Australia???? Ferrari were much faster
@@askeladden450 seems like Red bull is much faster on the straights but on the corners Ferrari did better
And it's also not "most likely" that Leclerc will be the Champion 2:00 Surely it can happen, but if the Red Bull stays in tact then i see Verstappen in front.
This is video is very quick to judge and bad in that.
Seems kind of funny that the same people that wouldn’t accept Leclerc’s bad luck last year keep pointing to “mechanical issues” and bad luck for Carlos this season. Meh, we will see.
Sainz made two big mistakes, in Q2 Imola (a wet track, were plenty of other drivers had crashes as well) and during the race in melbourne (although melbourne had a bad tyre decision for the start that partly caused the mistake). I believe it is way too early to judge, he will definitly outqualify Leclerc sooner or later and will have a great season with this car. We are four races in, everything is fine.
2:53 You mean mistakes like Leclerc being very close to the wall while spinning out in Imola? I'm sorry, but "judging" after 4 races is a bit trigger happy.
Carlos needs to get his shit together quick. Needs to match Checko.
*Checo but i know what you mean
We’ll see in Miami this weekend, tho I think it’s pretty much a 3way battle between Checo, Max, Charles at the minimum
Best car? 3 tenths faster than the rest of the grid? Did you watch Imola?
he probably didnt
Jeez u don’t have to cry so hard😂😂😂
Still faster overall car
@@maxb412 Red Bull faster in Jeddah and Imola Ferrari faster in Australia and Bahrain. Not overall faster I disagree. And Red Bull lost weight that makes them the fastest car now
@@maxb412 faster but not op
Ack… Great video! I hope Sainz gets things squared away and he can relax a little. He so much more tense and it’s visible. I think he’s a fantastic driver and fantastic human being. I wish nothing but success for him and his career. Again, great video and great insight. 👊🏻
I don't agree with the assessment that carlos can be as good as leclerc. I think with equal luck carlos has no chance against leclerc. Even last year there were only 2 or 3 races where carlos was genuinely faster (he seems to be closer in quali though). I just think leclerc ultimately is the quicker more talented driver and we'll see that throughout this season as they are now fighting at the front and randomness isn't as prevalent as in the midfield.
Stroll 22, Stroll 23...
I love Carlos but his poor start seems to a mix of lack of performance and bad luck. Sure he seems to be 3rd fastest after Verstappen and Leclerc, but he had several set up issues before the Australia race causing him to get a slow start putting him in pressure. Imola he made up for his mistakes in quali in the sprint but got tapped by Riccardo. Idk but it always seems that the number 2 drivers always get the unfair share of bad luck. Riccardo in red bull 2018, Bottas in Merc, Perez all had more mechanical issues than their partners. Or are they the number 2 because of their bad luck
I think perez is faster currently
Perez isnt european, that means he is never gonna make it to too 5
The problem is that Sainz has never been with a team for longer than 2 seasons. He doesn’t settle. Maybe that’s fine in the midfield, but now that he’s fighting with the big boys that lack of focus is starting to show. He’s never been comfortable, clearly.
Sainz was at toro rosso for almost 3 full seasons wtf are u talking about
Sooo... Are you forgeting Perez?
His own mind and his own frustrations and pressure are holding him back after the Spanish gp. This upcoming Monaco gp won't be a battle against Charles, Checo, George or Max. It will be a battle against himself
Carlos has this trend since 2019 where he starts off the season weak but always picks it up and finishes strong so I so t be surprised if he does it again. He’s a very consistent driver so if he does pick up his performance again he could still challenge for more wins.
but for a wdc one has to be consistent all along the season
@@itsgarv8978 i mean Vettel in 2010 also had weak start to the season so we'll never know.
Leclerc also started to show signs of ‘cracking under pressure’ as the season progresses
One mistake isn’t a sign of cracking under pressure
@@egxsyy this mistake is an unforced error. That tells you he succumbed under pressure
Its not cracking under pressure its not knowing when not to push too hard. Every year he didint have a car to fight for championships so he only raced to win. Now he has a car and needs to learn to play long term game when you dont have a car to fight for p1 that weekend maybe instead of overpushing and risking loosing easy 3rd place just to settle for that p3 and maybe hope others make a mistake or reliability of others come into play. Yes of course go for it you have a chance, but thats what seperates champions from winners. I think he will learn this quick and we wont see a lot more mistakes atleast i hope so
@@combatmedic007 it’s the championship, which is the biggest pressure cooker that is incessantly weighing on his mind. The first 3 races were unknown, and he didn’t have the conviction that there is a lot better chance up until now. We’ll see how it pans out for him
@@jacksonrodrigues7533 unforced error isn’t necessary due to pressure. People make mistakes
I wouldn't say it's the pressure, it's probably just his driving style not suiting the car very well. I believe he'll get used to it soon enough
Carlos Sainz in the 2022 Ferrari = Pierre Gasly in a Redbull
Carlos seems not a team player, his DNF indicates he wants to be number one Ferrari driver... This will eventually fall in redbulls'hand
I still have faith in my boi.
People are forgetting that in the second half of the season, Sainz is one of the most OP drivers on the grid with his consistency
Not the same. In those cases we were talking about just scoring with a midfield car.
But with a winning/championship car, that's so easy.
Even Vettel with his poor 2nd part of 2018, managed to score at every race.
@@zacariascisneros6399 exactly. Hamza must’ve come via Netflix
I guess you could say the Smooth Operator needs a patch update
The favored driver gets the priority strategy. The second driver is also the test mule for some upgrades. Once proven, they'll upgrade the first driver car. Proven upgrades will go the first driver. Put it this way, they won't compromise the first driver's strategy, race or setup. And the second driver is to back up the first driver. Hopefully it won't get as bad as the Mercs who at times sacrificed Bottas' race for Lewis to win or improve. All be it you cant have two cars winning the race so its obvious that Leclerc is the #1 driver for Ferrari
I feel that this video applies to Ricciardo more than Sainz. They both need to get a grip though.
The is one distorting factor in this whole equation I think you are missing. Charles is very much a front runner. what I mean by that is when everything is clicking, the car is quick and he is feeling good, Charles is probably even with Max in terms of raw pace. But when the car isn't quite right or things don't go his way, he is suddenly much slower. By contrast Sainz is super consistent pace wise, in a good or a bad car, but he doesn't have that last bit of absolute pace Max or Charles can pull out of the bag. As the other teams claw back Ferrari and the racing becomes closer, Sainz will begin to outscore Le Clerc. I suspect Charles may have a few 2017 Vettel type moments and Max probably nicks the title.
Sainz need to be luckiest driver on the grid like last year to outscore Leclerc
I think there's still hope he picks things up, he finished 3rd in Miami
Sainz's incidents weren't pressure induced, he's just been purely unlucky. He was super close to Charles at Bahrain, there's plenty of pace in him
The Australia incident wasn't his fault. The Imola quali crash could have happened to anyone, he got a wheel on the wet line a tiny bit and then he made up for it. And then he was shunted into bcs both Ferraris where on the wetter side of the track and had a shit start..nothing pressure related
Here before Sainz is the 2022 world champion
He s not comfortable with the car either. He said that even in races he tries to drive in different ways to see which one is better for the car(of course this car was built for leclerc, who was in Ferrari in 2020) so, him not even doing a lap in the last 2 races doesn’t help. Btw I can see improvements in practices rounds and q 1 and q2. Not being comfortable the bad luck the pressure… everything together. He will get there though, he is much stronger than that. Go Carlos
Imagine seeing this after Sainz win at Silverstone 😅
sainz wasn’t ‘at fault’ for imola in the literal terms. but at the start on a wet track where you really need to score good points he should have left more space just to make sure he made it through the first lap
He left all the space in the world for Ricciardo, just watch his onboard. He was extremely cautious and he still got hit
both ferraris had a shit start
@@propork yep, Leclerc got overtaken by Perez at the start too
@@beanlentil and by lando too
@@aaryanfredrick6931 damn I forgot my man Lando overtaking Leclerc at the start
He hasn't got to grips with the car as quickly as Charles has. He is a good driver - remember he finished above Charles and Lando points tally last season.
I don't know why the people only see Charles as his only rival.
This is not about "teammate vs teammate" bull****, and not with the performance of both Red Bull.
Checo 2022 World Champion
I'm new around here... Your takes are totally bang on
Amazing Content. Keep it up!
Carlos has admitted in several press conferences that the car doesn ´t suit to him as Leclerc. Also, in Australia he had a mechanical problem in the out-lap with the engine.
Glad to see you back. And yes, there is an air of desperation about Carlos this year.
I agree, good points. I hope he doesn't spiral because he's a likable guy and a great racing car driver. Even if I'm not a Ferrari fan, they have two of the greatest talents and most likable guys on the grid and I'd love to see them succeed. I just hope they succeed a little less than max.
Chilli loves a spin at least once a weekend ever since he joined Ferrari, he just keeps doing it at the worst moments instead of like 30 minutes in to fp1
Sainz underrated as per usual lol
worry about yourself, dont worry about carlos honey 😌
Sounds more and more like Miami or never for Carlos
He was quite unlucky last two races. But he has proven to be a good driver
0 mechanical failures? his car didnt start in q3 and then his steering wheel was replaced at the last moment before the race and the new wheel wasn't configured properly.
It's crazy that Sainz still never won a race.
I think it's also crazy how he got his first and only driver of the day last year, after all of his years inn the sport.
yes, that's crazy.
THE BARICHELLO HAS HAPPENED unless he goes on to win 3 in a row
A bit quick to say that he lost out on this season after 4 races
Great video, informative and entertaining 👍
"Ferrari are a team who like that first and second driver structure" what frontrunning team doesn't like that structure?
Well Merc let their number two driver win a championship...
@@owensparks5013 Are you talking about Rosberg? If so, you're wrong about him being the 2nd driver. He was treated as an equal for most of the time.
@@OnurP1 Yes that was my point. Mercedes are a "front running team" and don't feel the need for a number 2 driver to act as a butler for their number 1 driver.
@@owensparks5013 yeah, because back then Mercedes had no competition. When competition arose we got to see Bottas play butler didn't we?
Ferrari themselves for 2007-2009 ran like this. Kimi and Massa ran together with a relatively balanced team and only after a number of races (after midseason, I guess) whoever was ahead in championship would then be favoured. So we had Kimi champion by 1 point on the last race after a stressful year, then Massa not champion by 1 point on the last race after another stressful year, then nothing really good and Kimi signing out and Massa injured and even more shit results to cap a shit year. Then they adjusted again to 2010, when came with Alonso, Massa returned, and we know the rest of the story.
Here before Sainz is the next Mazepin. Mick should deserve that Ferrari seat.
His first win will be within the next 3 races. Mark my words.
i'll be in madrid just in time for the spanish gp so i hope it happens right then and there (and you can expect me to get absolutely hammered with the spaniards)
Smooth operation!
it's Ferrari... he's already driver number 2
I think he's been over driving because he knows he has one of the best cars on the grid
Carlos slowly becoming Barrichello 2.0
As a spanish guy and seeing carlos strugeling is pain
It's a new car and he has to adjust like everyone else. Lots of races left, he will likely finish 3rd in the championship behind Max and Charles.
Frankly I do agree with you and how did Carlos Sainz needs to have the calming environment for Rory egos at the door and let him just do a dingo because I really think you are in the series one year and one of the best in the series and I really do think he’ll be on the road because if you put a bad engine in the car
He’ll bounce back but the idea that he’s going to be world champ this year is pretty out there, but it’s the UA-cam comments so I’ll take it with a grain of salt.
Clearly the fastest car? That’s really not decided yet, the red bull was far better at imola.
HE WOOOOOOON VAMOOOS
Dont worry about Carlos, he is a good driver he just get a bad luck
Carlos will win this season i can feel it
He saves the engine for a long season, master🅱lan.
I really have a feeling that Sainz gonna win the wdc like Kimi in the last race idk why
That would be epic, Kimi defeating both Alonso and Hamilton in 2007 was such a feat. We'll have to see how things go
Probably had his best race of the season thus far at Paul Ricard...
People that criticize Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez for finishing P2 in races are delusional. Especially considering those are the exact same people that praise Geroge Russel for being P5.
With a Leclerc operating at over 95 percent he was always going to be number two. Sainz has always been señor Consistent.
people said the same after ricciardos transition from renault to mclaren
this proves that the car should suit the drivers style
If you're worried about Carlos then I can't imagine what you're feeling for Ricciardo....
Go back and watch the races, Ricciardo has been doing well in the majority. He beat Norris in Bahrain. Was ahead of Norris before he broke down, was asked to stay behind Norris in Australia, started just behind Norris in Imola before he fucked up but still, from an individual perspective, Ricciardo is doing much better then Carlos.
HE’S A RACE WINNER BOYS!
🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
After all of this, he must be showing Sainz of sadness.
Guys genuine question..
PEREZ OR SAINZ? WHO IS BETTER THIS SEASON??
Perez can handle pressure
Sainz is a bottler at best
Here after Sainz is 2022 world champ (from the future)
Nice video, only thing I don't agree on is that Ferrari is clearly the best car and has 3 tenths. I think Ferrari and Red Bull are neck and neck with eachother and it fluctuates race from race, as seen in the first 4 races. Ferrari faster in Bahrain and Australia, Red Bull in Jeddah and Imola.
He is a smooth operator, just give him some time.
Didn’t age well
yes

Talk about cracking under pressure Lewis Hamilton can't drive this year
If it feels like we've had more than 4 rounds already then wouldn't that mean time is moving fast for you? 🤷♂️
nice
Coldest outro tbh
Rubens Sainz is born
Maybe sainz just doesn’t handle the porpoising very well
There can be little doubt that Leclerc is the better driver of the two, which is not to say that Charles doesn't also make mistakes under pressure.
His DNFs were so unlucky mate
Lucky for him no gravel traps in Miami
Sainz has beat checo in every race he finished hes playing a good second driver role he has some bad luck and made a few mistakes but so has Leclerc give the man some time god damn
