The bathroom scene with Matt & Foggy is underrated in my opinion. Brilliant acting from both Cox & Henson.
Indeed, that line from Foggy "Stop acting like this stuff just HAPPENS to you!" is one of the best lines of the show. It certainly sums up the theme of this entire season.
Though it should've happened literally anywhere other than a court bathroom, I don't think Foggy yelling at Matt about his other life in a public building filled with cops, lawyers, detectives, etc was very smart. Maybe Foggy was hoping someone would hear them.

@@BhBc8f8 I'm just saying it's not out of the ordinary for cops, lawyers, detectives, etc to respond to a loud argument in a courthouse bathroom. That's exactly the type of shit they *should* want to listen to and intervene in. Defuse the situation before it has a chance to escalate.
Regardless, that bathroom must be built different if even Karen didn't hear what they were saying when she was right outside the room waiting on them. She obviously knew they were fighting in there but she didn't hear their words? Yeah aight
Someone pointed out that Stick intentionally let Karen into Matt’s apartment to see him and Elektra together in order to cause tension, so that it’d be easier for Matt to cut off the people he cares about. That’s what he wanted Matt to do in Season 1.

@@poopyboy2222 Stick is, y’know, kind of a dick. Always has been. I love that the show didn’t shy away from it like the Elektra movie did.
I love me some Terrence Stamp but he was a little too noble and mannered for ole salt o’ the earth curmudgeon that is (comic book) Stick. But Scott Glenn and this show’s creators really nailed the characterization.

I understand giving Matt crap for ending things with Foggy, but from his perspective, his involvement has only made things worse. He wanted to take Frank’s case, but he also wanted to stop the Hand, and he thought he could do both, because he really wants to help the city in every way he can. But Elektra got hurt because of him, and as soon as Matt got back to the case, he lost. Then, just when he thought he had one person left (Elektra), she kills a teenager right in front of him, she enjoyed it and she basically said she’d do it again. So Matt basically has no one in his corner, and whenever he does, they get hurt. And he doesn’t want to stop being Daredevil, so he takes Stick’s advice and cuts off the people he care about. He’s not blaming other people. He blames himself, and this is is the only solution he has. But you can see that he hates it. When Foggy leaves his apartment, you see Matt tear up a bit. That’s a testament to both the writing and Charlie Cox’s acting.
Props to Elden Henson too. His acting doesn’t get credited enough

@@poopyboy2222 No he is definitely right. Frank really does enjoy it. He loves killing criminals. He has admit it many times in comics and movies.
@@DanielGonzalez-xu1hi no he doesn’t. He may in the comics and movies, but he’s very different in this universe. He may get an adrenaline rush from it, he may actually enjoy it sometimes, he may have used his family’s death as an excuse for his one man war, but he’d much rather not have that life. Plus, the trial scene was LITERALLY him trying to get a guilty verdict. But I guess you can say that he truly meant it.

@@poopyboy2222 In this show thats how it was intended. Sadly the punisher show removed that which sucked cause that is a major part of his character. Either way thats who punisher has always been since his family was murdered. Regardless of what the punisher Netflix show changed.
@@DanielGonzalez-xu1hi I still disagree. I feel that he felt contempt by the end of this season - a duty to do what he does. But, I do admit that him hooking people up, like in the first episode of this season, does make it seem like it was in fact intended for what you said.
As for whether the change was unfortunate or not, i don’t think it was. I think it fits much better with his story if he doesn’t necessarily like it - although, I don’t read the punisher comics.
Another thing, in season 2 of Punisher it really showcases that he hates criminals and enjoys killing them, through him using Amy as bait.
"Why do I feel bad for Fisk?" because the writers and actors are damn good at what they do.
This three-season series sets such a high mark for quality I'm honestly scared that the disney+ relaunch 'Born Again' can't possibly live up to it
Yeah. I’m not aggro-Disney at all, and I even enjoyed the life-is-good version of Matt in Daredevil (because it was also a source-accurate side of him) but Born Again is a _heavy,_ melodramatic story.
Go too light and it’s pointless. Go too heavy and it’s maudlin. It needs the same sense of veracity and careful emotional balance as Netflix’s show to really work.
My only hope is that Marvel’s understanding of how popular the character became also comes with understanding the texture which created that affinity.

@@AngeloBarovierSD likewise. I've enjoyed the Disney+ MCU series work so far. The concern is that Daredevil: Born Again will be a victim of Daredevil's success, in that the three season arc set SUCH a high bar, how could it possibly live up to that example?
We could have widespread disappointment in a damn good show because it's not as good as the absolutely amazing show that preceded it.
I suppose "It's only *very good* rather than amazing" is a nice problem to have, in the grand scheme of things

Serious answer to your serious question: Prison jumpsuits are commonly orange to make escape more difficult and recapture easier. They're not always orange and they're not always a single color for everyone, though. Death Row may have a dark red while General Population might be in orange, while people who are assigned jobs or work detail and are considered "low risk" are in something that looks like dark blue or green scrubs.
Not to mention black and grey stripes is decent camo. Just ask zebras.

To the people who’s not affected by the crime committed by the citizens will say that Frank is a criminal, but to the people terrified for their everyday life, to them.. Frank is a hero, like their own personal guardian.
Except in real life he would end up killing innocents sooner or later. Not to mention the whole innocent until proven guilty thing that is in place to avoid complete chaos. There's a reason people who idolize Castle tend to ram protesters with cars or shoot random people... I like the character but some people get REALLY weird about him.

Matt isn’t forcing others to get rid of him, this season was him figuring out that he couldn’t balance what he does as daredevil with what he does with foggy and Karen. He realized this too late, after all his friendships got fucked up since he was simultaneously trying to take down a massive criminal organization of human trafficking, drugs, and who knows what else as well as trying to win the court case of the century. After he failed, he believed that it couldn’t have worked no matter what. He convinced himself that he had too choose between his friends and what he actually likes doing, and he chose to stop hurting his friends in the end. But what he doesn’t know is that he was killing the part of him that made him himself. The reason Matt was as good a person as he was in season 1 was because he said screw you to stick. He wanted to live a human life with people he loved, but now he is doing the exact opposite of that, pushing away the people he loves because he doesn’t want to hurt them. But that hurt comes with love, and he needs it to keep being the good man he is losing. And after this, Matt starts slipping even more. Season 2 is probably the worst in the series, but it’s still amazing how deep they are able to make Matt as a character, even if the execution was kind of poor. Daredevil needs Matt, and Matt needs daredevil. If you take away Matt, there is nothing but a violent husk bent on the passion and thrill of violence, losing the Ideals and love of Matt, and Matt without daredevil cannot make any meaningful change, it is passionless and weak. It is love without the means to enact it. daredevil is Matt’s will to enact change with passion and drive, and Matt is the humanity that drives that will to make the right changes.

Frank Castle has been my favorite Marvel character for over 30 years. We need a rated R MCU movie with him. It would reinvigorate the franchise.
Yeah The Punisher is one of my favorite characters of all time and I agree a rated R version of a movie would be cool but I personally would love the series to get a few more seasons with different villains there are plenty that they could use with my favorite bring Barracuda and yes of course it would have to be TV MA. Just my opinion

One of the best this season

This was the episode of the second season of this series, where the thought "It's happening, now it has begun" came to my mind. It was after seeing the huge twist on Wilson Fisk's intentions, and The Punisher taking down all the prisoners in cell block A, that the season got my full 100% attention. This episode we get to see the dramatic heading of the "Nelson & Murdock" firm, and the friendship of Matthew and Foggy drastically falling apart. It's an episode that serves well as the climax of the whole "2nd season action" that has happened, and is still to come. After we see Frank Castle's future plans with the villain Wilson Fisk, and see him released desperate to seek revenge for the death of his family, it's only left to discover where his path will cross Daredevil's. In the last minutes of the episode, a huge cliffhanger containing new information for the new plot line with Stick and Elektra is given to the viewer. I mark this episode with a "9", because of all its great aspects, and not only give it a "10" because of the still very vague reasons of Fisk when releasing The Punisher. I look forward to the next episode, on which the public will eventually discover, if there is, or not, a way of bringing people back to life.
I love the tension building and stress piling on for Matt. It makes for a compelling character torn between two lives and desperately trying to make both work when we all know he can't. This is why Matt Murdoch is such a good character like Peter Parker.
He's extremely incompetent and weak tbh. And he doesn't take responsibility for the damage and hurt he's done. Which bothers me

Matt's struggle and failure to balance the duality of his life trying to be both the vigilante Daredevil and the lawyer Matt Murdock basically is Matt's story arc this season. It's fun that at the same time we also gat the origin story for Frank Castle as well.
This show has some of the greatest corridor fight scenes.
3:08, it is partly because it makes people easier to spot upon escape, but there's a phycological component as well. Apparently some shrink thought that the color orange triggers calming or comforting affects on people. So the thought was that if inmates wore orange violence within prison walls would go down. No clue if it works, but someone invested a lot of money to put it into practice
1:00:00 I dont think matt is blaming others...he is kind of making foggy hate him so that he leaves him. Also karen included..matt just dont want people in his life because he knows he will hurt them mentally eventually mayb physically indirectly.
Yea. She says a lot that blames Matt which is dumb. She says Matt’s not taking responsibility and that Matt doesn’t deserve foggy but when he admits it and says foggy should leave she blames him. She blames Matt for things he can’t control. She also acts like Matt has a real choice in letting the city suffer cause we all know she’s blame him if he quit daredevil for good
The hero struggling to balance heroics, family, friends, dating, and work/school while maintaining their secret identities is classic comic book drama.
Not directly, but this show is based heavily on the Frank Miller run on the Daredevil comics in the 80s, where he introduced, as writer and artist, things like Elektra, Stick, the Hand, and the Chaste. Mad props to Netflix for portraying the graphic violence that the comics implied and would've gotten an R rating if it been made as a Marvel movie. Please continue reacting to the rest of the series. It's not all violent-- the characters continue to develop. You're doing great ma'am and I love hearing say "get wrecked."
Took me a few watches to notice, but after Frank's prison massacre, the bloodstain on his chest makes the Punisher skull logo.

Back in Season 1, Matt did say he believes in the law, but there are times when the law can’t do anything, or is used to hurt the innocent instead of protecting them. That’s where Daredevil comes in. The first time Matt suited up was to beat up a guy who repeatedly abused his daughter.
That story of Frank taking out 30 enemy fighters reminds me of John Chapman. Unfortunately, Sergeant Chapman didn’t survive.

I only had 2 problems with season 2 bringing The Hand in was one and Matt being a hypocrite is the other. He is a hypocrite for making sure Frank gets put behind bars because he was a murderer but Elektra gets to walk right out his front door free to kill as much as she wants. Just my opinion

I think Frank knows it all. If you watch Bernthal's mannerisms and expressions in the complete scene, he goes from confusion that he recognizes this voice, to hearing Matt ask him if he can call him Frank as Matt called him on the rooftop, to disbelief that a blind man could possibly be Daredevil and then to acceptance. He can't explain it, but he knows Matt Murdock is Daredevil

I know Matt kicking Foggu out of his life seems cruel, but ya can't take on the Hand if you have loved ones--they'll be killed for sure.
the cops took the paperclip, partly so frank can't pick his cuffs.
the other reason: it's a nod to frank in the comics. like in the an earlier episode, frank had captured and held prisoner by crooked cops. before he was caught however, frank hid a paperclip in a fresh wound on his hand. as he was being questioned / beaten he took it out, unfolded it, and used it to pick his cuffs. when the bad cop got close, he poked them in the eye, then used them as a human shield.
in the scene where matt questions frank: it's here that frank puts 2 and 2 together about matt. because only "red" called him "frank," while everyone else was calling him "castle," or his full name "frank castle."
18:50 "right or wrong, you can't deny that it works" I had to pause when I first saw that moment because that was an idea I mulled over a lot in life. I'm not quite a passivist - I do believe violence is justified for self defense. Also, I acknowledge its entertainment factor. Whether killing "works" or not to improve society, well, I'm against the death penalty, but I'd spent a lot of time listening to those that are for it. A lot rides on how much someone believes in rehabilitation & redemption. I don't think anyone's beyond help, just beyond understanding. A lot of people would rather just write others off, which I find to be lazy and cold.
There's a theory that Frank DID recognize Matt's voice (the micro expression Jon/Frank did when Matt said "may I call you Frank?" ), because Matt never disguises his voice as Daredevil maybe a teeny tiny bit deeper but not like Batman!

As far as the jumpsuits, I worked as a cop/detention officer but it depends on where the inmate is. Where I worked, most commonly was blue shirt and pant, orange was used for worker inmates
@47:48 and that is who Elektra is. Semi Spoiler since this series is over and they are unlikely going to follow the comic over at Disney. Her backstory is a little sketchy due to the different writers giving her different backstories but the one thing we know is she had a traumatic childhood (Father molested her). While other accounts says they had a good relationship and that never happened. Either way some trauma or darkness in her was being used to groom her into being a member of the Hand but eventually Stick and his group called the Chaste brought her onto their side.
Through out the comics there is this back and fourth will they wont they get together, can Matt Save her soul or will she corrupt his?
Sadly in the case of Frank Castle vs the DA Office, the house always wins. Frank falling on his own sword was one thing but Elektra certainly made her presence known in a negative way, threatening to give Matt and Foggy the breakthrough they needed but not knowing that threatening the man taints the evidence. There's also the matter of Elektra being a student of Stick, and her being used as a plant to pull Matt back into his holy war against The Hand (one of the main villain groups for Daredevil, it's also why the Ninja turtles' villain group is called The Foot).
In the end this part of the season was more a show that, while possible, one's nature isn't so easily changed; Frank and Elektra will always have that killing instinct whether Matt approves or not, even when Fisk lies low he is scheming and taking over the system.
Depending on the poison, yes the cure is in your kitchen. If it's an acidic based poison, then baking soda will neutralize it.

Fisk's manipulations in prison are fairly easy to anticipate, pretty basic exchange of favors, and holy cow do they let him master the skill in season 3. If he has anything close to a superpower it's that, the reach he has, the mind boggling scale of his empire is worthy of a character like him. He's a true mastermind and it's a credit to the show that he doesn't default to generic villainy like so many antagonists, his genius is not limited by the needs of the script, he doesn't become relevant again the moment Matt runs out of enemies, he's hard at work gathering strength and making connections, his takeover is staggering, even people who know what he's up to can't even blow the whistle on him, he plans for EVERY contingency. One of the best villains of all time, he's allowed to be smart, strong, patient, angry, human, cruel, vulnerable and hopeful all at the same time

As far as prison "fashion", it differs from state to state, federal to local prisons. Orange jumpsuits are one form, there are also orange scrubs, khaki, grey, usually made of canvas/poly. There are also denim outfits. Usually the idea is cheap mass produced clothing that relegates them to one population with little room for identification or gang promotion. Same for the shoes, generic mass produced cheap. The knockoff vans are a form of this. Usually it is all manufactured by low risk inmates.

I wish could see evil version of Matt Murdock in this multiverse saga
Matt may feel more ‘free’ when he’s with Elektra, but I feel like if they were together, he’d break his ‘no-kill’ rule sooner or later. He almost did the last time they were together, and she enjoyed it. And killing someone would make Matt reevaluate his entire life, since his no-kill rule is tied to his faith.
But I would be lying if I didn’t say Matt telling her that he felt hollow when she was about to die didn’t warm my heart. I know it sounds like I REALLY don’t like Elektra, but that’s not true. Like Matt, she had a very rough upbringing and both have their urges to kill, but Elektra chooses to give into them, whereas Matt fights them every time he dons the suit. And this show is so brilliantly written that I don’t want Matt to break his rule.
Daredevil won't kill, but he will absolutely ruin your life. Like he said in S1, "drop the gun, or you'll never hold anything in that hand again." He meant it. The little girl's dad spent several weeks eating through a straw. There are any number of gang and biker henchmen who will probably never walk without a limp because Matt blew out their knee. Matt won't kill, but he'll sprint right up to that line.
Also, Matt is famous for having women problems. At least 3 of his girlfriends have tried to kill him.
All I could think throughout this whole video is the words "Matthew, darling, this is SO not Gucci"
VKunia...your sympathies are misplaced. This is a court case. Foggy is NOT risking his life trying to save the city AND practice law. His burdens are EASY. Foggy doesn't even really LIKE Frank. His stakes in this are almost NON-existent. So hes being an over dramatic and grasping at straws for something to be angry about. Furthermore, he knows who Matt is and instead of taking up the slack and taking more off Matt's place when Matt needs it, he's whiny about having to do HIS OWN JOB. Boo-fricken-hoo. Lawyers take on cases by themselves ALL THE TIME. Not everybody can do what Matt does. And not everybody even would do what Matt does, if they could. Foggy needs to suck it up, because comparatively, he does NOT have it that bad.

edit - As for DNA. That's the movies. In real life, determining that DNA is at any scene is nearly impossible unless it is isolated somehow, such as blood on a knife, or a cigarette butt in a cup. If it is simply on the ground, especially where people walk, you have hundreds, if not thousands of different sets of DNA. That's why they don't want people walking around a crime scene.
Disgusting truth: you have about 300 different people's DNA on the bottom of just ONE of your shoes.

To make escape more difficult, prison uniforms in the United States often consist of a distinctive orange jumpsuit with short sleeves or set of scrubs with a white T-shirt underneath, as it is difficult for an escaped inmate to avoid recognition and recapture in such distinctive attire. Originally a horizontal white and black bee-striped uniform and hat was used.
Striped prison uniforms commonly used in the 19th century (the Auburn system) began to be abolished in parts of the United States early in the 20th century because their continued use as a badge of shame was considered undesirable.

I hope you watch The Punisher after this season, before season 3 of Daredevil. It makes more sense, chronologically. Also you have to watch Luke Cage and Iron Fist before you get to watch The Defenders, featuring Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Exciting times! Also a fun fact, Claire is the one that helps tie all those shows together by being in all of them.

Theory on orange jumpsuits versus white/black stripes…. It’s cheaper to dye a white jumpsuit one colour, or sew it from one colour than having to switch colours constantly and the US incarcerates so many millions of people that they save hundreds of millions per year on prison uniforms.

There is so much nonsense about the trial in this - the fact that Matt makes a speech instead of questioning Castle on the stand is such schlocky writing, not to mention the whole way the trial was accelerated would automatically give the defence an appeal since they weren't able to prepare a proper defence... It's a good job there are so many excellent performances in the show, or some of those flaws would be called out a lot more often
Elektra really isn't my favorite character at all, but my main issue is the Hand in general and she's just tangentially related to it so that drags her down in my mind too. But there's no denying her chemistry with Matt
