Hey guys, Sam here! In this video I called the Nightshade a Khukuri/Kukuri when the correct description is a traditional Chilin cutter. Sorry for the slip up! Thanks for keeping me on my toes!😉
Vosteed are knocking it out of the park this year. Of all the knife manufacturers videos that I've watched at this year's Blade Show (including big names like Spyderco), Vosteed had the most attractive knives. Some of those other Chinese companies make some really ugly blades. I don't think there was one of the Vosteeds I didn't like.
I love how you mention other companies. 99% of knife companies won't even whisper another knife company's knife model on camera because they don't want to advertise for another company. It's ridiculous when they are trying to explain something and have to do crazy gymnastics to get around saying the name. But it just amused me that you mentioned other companies. No reason to not give credit where credit is due or compare models. It's just common sense. Appreciate it. Keep breaking molds.
I met Mr. Dong at the show Friday. He and a woman ( I think she was his wife) were running the Vosteed booth alone. I talked with them a good while and they gave me a shirt and some other stuff. They were super nice and friendly. He sai d a larger version of the newer version of Corgy is coming later this year with the new pivot button lock. He was hitting the handle of the Ankylo on the tablet like he was driving nails with zero lock failures. I later found out that he was a designer for Kizer before starting Vosteed. Pretty cool experience at Blade Show Atlanta.
Just an FYI: Raccoon Rehabber, here. I'm caring for multiple mama raccoons with babies/kits. Raccoon babies are called kits. Like fox babies. Raccoons are in the bear family so they should be cubs, but, who knows. They suck up all my $ for kibble & meds so no room for knives. I will eventually find a way to get the 2 Raccoons & the future mini Raccoon Kit. 😊 Been wanting the Raccoons for a while. Along with many other Vosteeds.
Thanks Knife Center crew, keep up the great work. Vosteed, great looking knives coming up . . . the pivot lock intrigues me . . . but I am still waiting for a FULL size Nightshade with a cross bar lock 😃 (probably be waiting for a while.)
9:34 love it! i think its funny that vosteed hasn’t been in business for more than three years and in that amount of time they have come out with more convincing new products than any other knife company and they are all a good value and the people in the company are really approachable and i had a problem with one of my knives and their customer service is the best i’ve ever experienced anywhere.
Vosteed is amazing. Tons of great knives but can’t recommend the nightshade series enough… I find myself using them for most tasks nowadays and I have lots of options. The full size is beefy and I can fit the mini in a 5th pocket - this new in between model will definitely be on my radar when released if they have a non-coated blade version
Wow I can't wait for the Racoon Pup and the last knife. I've been looking for a "vanilla" knife shape like my mini bugout but only with a liner type lock and this looks exactly like what I'm looking for.
if they did that last one with the milling in a straight-up plain non-colored aluminum with a satin blade...my lord I would camp out in front of Vosteed HQ for that one. It would be like a Tactile minus $150.
Amazing company and tools... My wish is for premium steel versions of all the offerings...The designs and function are fantastic, but I would like upgrades steels. Why? Options are a good thing.
I have an Aurora Knife and Tools Truffles knife with a pivot lock and it works really well for lefties. What I’m wondering is whether the Ankylo has a reversible pocket clip. David did an admirable job of not showing the clip side. Just watch that segment like you were just trying to see what the pocket clip looks like and you will appreciate the cover up. 😆
Sorry, Sam, I'd be thrilled to see a Raccoon pup, but only for the right reasons. A Liner Lock is NOT a reason to get excited, it's a snore. It's a bygone snore. A front flipper is not a reason to get excited, it's a yawn. A sleepy yawn. You want me to be excited about a Raccoon Pup? Give me a crossbar or a button lock. You want me to be OVER-THE-MOON excited? Give us the new button top liner lock. You could really make up for discontinuing the Valkyrie by putting that button top liner lock in a sub 2 ounce pocket knife. That'd be awesome.
Is a "top liner" lock the equivalent of Spyderco's compression lock? I understand you can't use a trade-marked name, but if it's the same type of lock, pick a more unique name.
Top liner is equivalent to a compression lock. The patent expired in 2019 (I think), the trademark still applies. Ruins the way how maker and dealers talk about locks for sure. The pivot lock is also a modified compression lock.
DCA, all knives are finger safe! That is, as long as one uses any particular knife with appropriate care. Some users are not finger safe but all knives, being inanimate objects, are finger safe.
We talk about lock mechanisms being able to be closed without the fingers crossing the path of the sharp edge as being finger safe. It has nothing to do with any other facet of use. Cheers! -DCA
Idk about the pivot lock. Seems like it would be fairly east to accidentally disengage in the wrong grip. I definitely wouldn't hand it to someone asking to borrow a knife. I dig the idea but put a safety on it.
Vosteed has killer designs and quality, but their HRC needs addressing: +/-2 on so many knives! Thats a HUGE range and often means your gambling on getting a really good or really crappy heat treated blade.
Eh Vosteed needs a new face/spokes person. He can't explain the lock, calls things the wrong thing. Some things are already out. Just doesn't seem very informed in general. Watch videos of anyone else and they are well better composed. Ankylo is phenomenal, by the way.
nice S/E with a great profile for cutting , pattern and serations .....hate the stupid slick handles with useless dagger blades like MT.........the super thin handles not my fav.
Make a 3.5-3.75" Nightshade with either the new Pivot Lock, a crossbar lock or that "top liner lock" and I'll add another Vosteed to my knife herd. The Mini-Nightshade is too small for my taste, and the original has a liner lock, which I pretty much avoid. A next-gen original with a better lock (see list above) would do the trick as well. I have the Mini-Pyrite, it's a cute wee lit'l guy, which I regret buying. Why? Because as nice of a knife as it is, it is too small for my tastes. So the mini-vosteeds y'all are coming out with won't be joining my herd, but I do wish you all the best in the market with them. I love my Thunderbird, but I haven't bought any of the subsequent models because every one of them is smaller than the original. booooo. booo, hiss.
Vosteed, if you guys read this, just know y'all are KILLING IT!!! Keep up the great knife designs at a killer price point! Especially with all the overpriced trash out there! Cough, cough... Benchmade🤡🤦🏻♂️
I'm very much speaking to knife center about this. I fully believe that I can boost your image and sales just by my looks and build over your current model.
Seriously Vosteed? You put on an innovative ambidextrous lock and then don’t put on a reversible pocket clip?? Why? This was a slam dunk buy for me until I saw that, so disappointed. 😔 No reason to not reverse the clip with that lock. Pivot locks work wonderfully for lefties. Don’t get it.

when more topliner racoons
Vosteed is quickly becoming a leader in design, quality ,durability and all that at a amazing price.
Don't say that, they might raise their prices. 😂
I’ve heard some NOT so good feedback from those who received their Anklyo… very bad action
The price shames Benchmade!
They do seem to copy other people's homework though.
Just redos of other peoples work and designs but made in china…Of course it’s cheaper than a benchmade
Vosteed has become a force. Clever locks, great designs, quality materials, great price.
Always nice to see a father that's so proud of his son for following in his footsteps :')

You met Belle, she's not his wife, but she's the marketing and sales person. Great bunch of people at Vosteed!
He looks cool...like dca and seth had a child 😄
I had a strange feeling watching the video... You nailed it ! Its hilarious !
Shots fired

I agree - The Raccoon "Kit" should be the name - its a different and cuter name, and of course its correct !
3:50 no way DCA ripping a front flipper with ease like that... this baby racoon might be a winner
Thanks Knife Center crew, keep up the great work. Vosteed, great looking knives coming up . . . the pivot lock intrigues me . . . but I am still waiting for a FULL size Nightshade with a cross bar lock 😃 (probably be waiting for a while.)

Got my ankylo last Friday awesome action great knife looking forward to more
Vosteed is really killing it, I can’t wait for all their new designs. My favorite layout so far for bladeshow 2024

I was at BladeShow all day Friday and 1/2 Saturday, and never saw Vosteed's booth! Where the heck were they?
Vosteed just made the nightshade perfect.👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow I can't wait for the Racoon Pup and the last knife. I've been looking for a "vanilla" knife shape like my mini bugout but only with a liner type lock and this looks exactly like what I'm looking for.
Vosteed is still rollin' !!! They've been killing the game over the last couple of years.
Great job Vosteed❤
Just got my first Vosteed and I'm an immediate fan. Cool to see these; there's going to be another Vosteed in my future.
That guy can sell ice in the North Pole. Really talented :)
Definitely a company to watch. Looking forward to the new releases!
I'd love an xl raccoon with a 4 inch blade
I have the Raccoon TLL and it's amazing! One of the best actions in any knife I own. Vosteed does an amazing job.
We all thought last year was the year of the budget knife, but this year is looking even better!
Nightshade pivot lock is awesome!
please show use the pocket clip side, to me the pocket clip makes the knife
They cover up that pocket clip like it’s a job!
When is that new nightshade coming out
Love the new Nightshade. Going to have to get me one.
10:48 noooooooo don't get rid of the front flipper! It's perfect! 😭
My favorite booth so far
This and Boker are mine so far.
Mini sciop is makin go it to my collection
Thanks DCA and Thomas. 🎸🔪
I have the top liner lock raccoon. It’s very nice!!
if they did that last one with the milling in a straight-up plain non-colored aluminum with a satin blade...my lord I would camp out in front of Vosteed HQ for that one. It would be like a Tactile minus $150.
I have the limited Elmax NIghtshade and it's been a solid performer. I gotta get a Raccoon!
That Elmax and micarta is gonna be an instant buy for me.
And still very difficult to get in Germany, at least the latest versions.
The Nightshade is not a Khukri BTW, it’s obviously based on a Chilin-Knife.
I'm calling these kind of locks
Button
Actuated
Liner
Lock
🧐
Its the Smock lock. They stole the design from Kevin Smock.
Good line up
A baby racoon is a kit... so Vosteed Kit. Sweet little blade.
I got my elmax nightshade yesterday 😊
Amazing company and tools... My wish is for premium steel versions of all the offerings...The designs and function are fantastic, but I would like upgrades steels. Why? Options are a good thing.
Man, oh man! I'm gonna need one of those Anklyo's in the Blue and Black Color scheme of that Nightshade Prototype 😅
The mini psyop looks really good. Especially at the mentioned price point using Elmax steel. Dang I wish it wasn’t a cross bar lock.
Gonna get that corgi cousin! 5th pocket knife rocks 🤘
Vosteed could be the next Civivi/Sencut. Same price point as both brands, great designs n alot of the same martials.
What happened to the Corsair?
That Mini Psyop is 😍
DCA, you’re getting better at front flipping. Maybe help from some nice design/manufacturing as well. Great Blade Show coverage!
Yue Dong is the man! How about another Raccoon with a premium cleaver blade with the new top liner lock?
Like what I‘m seeing…
Still waiting on that Corgi XL 😂
I wonder how that pivot lock would work for left handers. That is a question that a lot of people would be asking themselves.
Not much different than a button lock the positioning is just a little different
That micarta elmax mini psyop is the shizznit.

knive center exclusive Psyop? just a thought!
A baby raccoon is called a 'kit'.
Make bigger knives please. Gator is my favourite work knife.
Nightshade XL (3.5-4”)with top liner or pivot lock would be nice.
They need to make that mini psyop into a 3 inch version.
I like little knives, take my money!
lol no one can look at the pup and not think baby banter. Still, pretty cool how they put multiple deployment options on such a small form factor.

It is quite different from Spiderco, there is actually a button on the scale, like a button lock, that actuates the release of the liner lock.
@@JepdTit's actually very similar to the functionality of the Spyderco Smock which is a button actuated compression lock.
Kevin Smock invented that lock and Volstead stole it.@@Nick_The_Knife
@@Lawyerboyleslie72 Sal Glesser of Spyderco invented the lock, which is no longer under patent so it can't be stolen.
Blue ball ya😂
😅
wish they wouldn't make so many coated/black blades.

Not gonna lie, I’m buying that baby Raccoon

Paint that prototype yellow and call Pixar about the obvious movie-tie-in name.
we need some QSP love please
Lol if you like the mini bugout you gonna like this... I wonder why? It's literally a 533 copy.
😂
Make some lefty button locks!!n
Flip the clip and use your pointer finger🤷🏻♂️
@@shaggy_e210 nope. Too high a risk of hitting the lock button.
NObody wants unneeded clip holes on the face side of their knives.
The lefty answer isn't unneeded holes, it's separate models.
or a little spacer with flush screws.

Good release 👍 But who realy like front flipper ? Not me for sure 😅
V-Anchor lock is over built AF.
What happened with the Hedgehog, fellas

I don't like the Baby Banter. I think it looks clumsy, aesthetically. The Vosteed version looks much more elegant to me.
Always be sure to give credit to Benchmade when didcussing the crossbar lock.

Who is buying all this stuff
Me
Vosteed does kinda rule now
Made in China at those prices is ludicrous.
