- VIETNAM VS. THAILAND (Which should YOU travel to?)
If you're looking to visit South East Asia and aren't sure where to travel to, Vietnam or Thailand, this video is for you.
Both countries have a lot to offer, pro's and cons... personally Thailand would be better for me if I were looking for an all round holiday and a tropical paradise.
Vietnam would be a great choice if I wanted to backpack around the country, feel a taste of a truly authentic South East Asian country that's rich in history.
If you liked the video please subscribe :)
Been to both multiple times (and Cambodia), up to you and what you want on that particular visit. All amazing places!!!!!
Love Thailand but Vietnamese food is my favourite!
Vietnamese food is good… Thai is better for me haha
he preferred nem
I agree. Thai food is great too but Bun Cha and Bun Thit Nuong are possibly the 2 best things I have ever tried in my life.
Vietnamese food is amazing and healthier than Tai food
Have you been to Da Nang ? Absolutely fantastic scenic city beach and so long stretch....and clean. Unbeatable to me
Nicely said mate. Appreciate the way you speak about these things.
Thank you 🙌🏻
Thanks for this! Planning my first trip that way and appreciate the insight. I had to laugh at the motorbike ride. Reminded me of the TukTuk drivers in India. MAD! Great stuff, Mate. Cheers.
Mate it’s a madness haha. Gotta love it. Hope you have a great trip 👊🏻
Great vlog.
I have been to Vietnam once pretty recently but been to Thailand 4 times. Both wonderful countries but definitely loved Thailand more, However, Vietnam has a lot of wonderful places to visit
Agree with you on this. Something about Thailand!
Comprehensive vlog. I guess that I’ll have to flip a coin.
You mentioned splitting them up. I have 4 weeks, so 2 & 2 might be my best option 👍👍!!
Thanks. Two weeks in each would be amazing, just don't try to squeeze so much in that you don't get to enjoy it. I think you'll love both, check out my other video for a 2 week Thailand Itinerary 👍🏻
Great vlog! Important information!
Thanks Ben 🙏🏻
Thanks mate for your help
No problem thanks for the comment
Josh, you are so charming and likable :D Loved the vlog!
Thank you 🙏🏻
@joshbonthemove I've heard Vietnam has many vegetable dishes available. Would you know if it would be easier for someone on a vegetarian or vegan diet in Vietnam or TH? BTW, loved the video. Would love to live in either of these countries for some time. Hard to decide.
Good Q - I’m a big meat eater so I’ve not paid as much attention but a couple of things on this; 1) if you go to bigger cities/ touristy areas you’ll have a much bigger choice of vegan/ veggie restaurants (especially in Thailand) 2) you’ll 100% have options for vegetarian in almost all restaurants, it’s just the quality of it might not be as good in some places. Thanks for the comment, sorry I can’t be too much help but I’m usually the other way around 😅
Great video thanks
Thanks for the comment 🙏🏻
cool. Defo visiting Vietnam on my next visit to Asia and Cambodia..possibly from bangkok. to early to confirm..Personally enjoy history. Going to check out China and Japan also.. probably multi entrying asia next time.. Maybe phillipines too.. Phuket spoilt for choice for beaches.. Vietnam it is the history and night life I am intersted in..
Sounds like a solid plan. Asia is the place 💙
Pretty good summation on the pros and cons. Overall my time in Vietnam is more memorable.
My first time in Vietnam was more memorable, since I’ve changed my mind but both countries are amazing. Thanks for the comment!
Would love to go to Vietnam. Thailand is a bit full on for me. I wonder what the combat gyms are like in Vietnam
Nowhere will compete with Thailand for combat sports I don't think, it's so deeply embedded in the culture here but maybe Vietnam has good options, just less of them
Loved the comparison at thend
Thanks 🙌🏻
I've just travelled both.
Not full backpacker style, but I spent time in each country.
Kind of like comparing coffee to pizza.
Very different qualities.
I was really surprised how much more 'hardcore' vietnam was by comparison.
No sidewalks. Less tourist infrastructure. Less English. But the biggest thing was the struggle was REAL among the locals in vietnam. Most of the people in Saigon seemed perilously close to abject poverty.
Thailand by comparison just never gave me that vibe. Sure there were beggers etc, but overall it all felt closer to modern China or even Japan.
Vietnam felt like India.
Overall Thailand is better for 'holiday' and to hook up with girls.
But my travel war stories ALL came from vietnam ahaha.
I could buy codeine from the local pharmacy no questions asked.
I also got a dental crown for like $100.
Thailand was just like the west but with more asians and better prices
Haven’t heard it put better, thanks for sharing your perspective 👏🏻
Good comment, heard the same
Poverty? How? Never seen slums or people starving in Vietnam like in other countries such as the Philippines or maybe Cambodia, but you certainly never see extreme levels of poverty in Vietnam like you see in the Philippines
Bro, where in Vietnam did you stay? I swear I been there many times and never seen a single place that was remotely comparable to India 🤣
You are guy Lose brain
Thailand all the way dude
Agreed
Good video although i disagree on a few things you said. Im from the UK currently living in Da Nang and heading back to Thailand soon.
I love both countries and split my time between both so win win! 👍
Thanks, everything is subjective to my experiences in both countries. I love Da Nang, what bits do you disagree with?
Thailand definitely tops on beaches and island hopping. And amazing foods...
I agree!
I am Vietnamese, our country actually stopped war and gunfire in 1989 (border conflict with China) and developed explosively since 1995 when the United States stopped the embargo.
Therefore, Vietnam has only been developing for 29 years, and the economic scale in 2024 will be 40 times greater than in 1995. That is the hard work and quality of East Asian peoples.
That’s amazing
Both countries are amazing
Agreed
Nice video, please put titles on the screen so we know which city and area you're showing! Otherwise, it's not as useful just looking at the street not knowing where we are
Noted, thanks for the comment and feedback 🙏🏻
Thailand❤
💯
I feel like vietnam retains the inland charm and authenticity of what thailand had 30 years ago. Social media influencers really upset the balance of travel and residence. I think based on supply and demand there will be a correction that will prove less sustainable
Can you please say something about getting a job in Thailand or Vietnam and do you have job links?
No idea on that sorry brother. I work remotely
@@joshbonthemove thanks
You are not supposed to get a job in Southeast Asia and compete with locals in employment. You are only supposed to travel in SEAsia.
@jeanmoralles977 what is the essence of going there if there are no jobs for foreigners?
I am not going to vietnam. The locals can have their jobs to themselves. Satisfied?
@@samiyiola142 You should get a job in your homeland in Africa.
Sapa, Ha Giang loop, Cao Bang,…
Yes, the sea and beaches are better in Thailand, there’s no competition in my experience. I’ve never been to the far North of Vietnam. Maybe I will one day but I like hotter climates so it’s never appealed to me as much, Vietnam is an amazing place but for different reasons.
I also like the fact that Vietnam has more large and interesting cities compared to Thailand, which with the exception of Bangkok and maybe Chiang Mai, doesn't have that many appealing cities at all. Vietnam has many beautiful cities such as Hanoi, Saigon, Da Nang, Hue, Nha Trang, Dalat... just to name a few
Good point, Saigon, Da Nang and Hanoi are all super interesting, fairly big and have a lot going on.
Du lịch Thái tốt hơn. VN cần thêm khoảng từ 5 đến 10 năm nữa hy vọng đuổi kịp Thái❤
For western elements and comforts, I agree. Although Vietnam is still amazing and has a different feel & charm than Thailand 🙏🏻
What does Thailand have? The true value of tourism?
For me personally, it has a great combo of east meets west. Home comforts with SEA culture 👌🏻
@@joshbonthemove Vietnam appears to be cleaner and the infrastructure, especially the side streets appears to be up to date. Not to mention the smell. Thailand has the burn-off months, where as Vietnam does not.
Speaking of Thailand, check out LISA - ROCKSTAR
Will do thanks
Chưa đi hết VN mà đã đi so sánh
Thailand
😎
travel both .
I agree, but a lot of people don’t know the differences or don’t have the time
One thing you should have mentioned: Vietnam opened to tourists more than 30 years but international tourists have never gotten raped or killed in Vietnam and Thailand you should check it yourself.
Why should I have mentioned this?
VIETNAM 🇻🇳 ALL DAY
Tell me why :)
Vietnam is better
In some ways, I agree. Overall, Thailand is for me 😏
@@joshbonthemove you barely explain yourself.
I still explain myself better than you have lol
as a Vietnamese, I'm so sad when watching this. You know nothing about a country's history and your experience is only on one side. It would be better if you don't make comparisons when your time in Vietnam is very short. Peace!
You should rewatch the video and listen to what I actually said. I said Vietnamese history was fascinating. How long does someone need to have been there to warrant having an opinion? I’ve spent months in Vietnam in total, been up and down the country twice, visited numerous museums, spoken with locals, and learned about the 'Resistance War against America'… what did I say that’s upset you, that I preferred Thailand!? 🥲
Kyphan, your response was not warranted.
Vietnam and Thailand do not even share any history together.
He said literally nothing offensive about vietnam. But while you're at it, please tell your fellow vietnamese who are flooding in the comment section to be respectful and not to passive aggressively make statements about thailand to discourage other tourists from wanting to visit.
thalands actually more dangerous to drive in
That might be the case, personally I found Thailand to have more order on the roads. Vietnam seemed more chaotic and harder to get used to their ‘system’
@@joshbonthemove yeah but there are a lot more cars sharing the road with motorbikes in thailand causing more fatalities
I can see why that's the case, I still felt safer in Thailand though@@gutterskulk6934
Statistically it is true that driving/riding in Thailand is more dangerous
I'm still not talking about statistics... read "I felt safer in Thailand", it's also worth noting I'm from the UK which drives on the same side of the road as Thailand@@mtha7796
Nahh men Philippines just beat this to country ❤
Never been, one day I will
Thailand is better for Josh. Because Thailand has the best trans 😂. I bet you already selpt with them, didn't you ?
Lol are you ok? 🤣
Vietnam is better. more open people, cheaper prices, less scams.
Cheaper prices, often yes. Less scams, dependant upon where you are, I’ve been scammed more in Vietnam than in Thailand. People are great in both places. I guess it’s about preference.
Thailand is indigenous. While Vietnam is not indigenous. If you prefer indigenous culture then go to Thailand.
WTF!!! "Vietnam is not indigenous" Really!!!????
@@FunnyBunn8 Majority of Vietnamese descended from the Han dynasty, so Vietnamese are not indigenous.
But Thai people descended from Khmer, Kra Dai, and Indian, which is all indigenous to that region of Asia.
@@hunterl4328I'm from Philippines and majority of Thai people from ayuthaya dynasty and also mix of konbaung dynasty of burmese make some research first before you talk and also did you know that Vietnam ancestors in from china
@@johncarlolibadia4052 Thailand did not have dynasties. Thailand had king. Only China and Vietnam had dynasties in that region.
@@hunterl4328 they have dynasty chakri so what also king Ayutthaya is where the Thai people came from jus like Genghis khan half of the Asian they have a dna of there mongol blood
Vietnam all the way.
Thailand for me… but only just!
