Hi Scott! First off, thanks for all the videos. I am exploring wireless, and have found your channel to be very educational, and at times even entertaining.. : ) I appreciate how you speak honestly about the products you review, but what is most helpful is how speak in a very conversational and digestible way, as if we were having a conversation in your living room… But Ok, my question: I have a Shure PGX4 analog receiver with a PGX-2 SM58 mic from back in the day, and am interested to use it for in-ear monitoring. Can this work with the pgx system? If so, what do I need? Thank you! And hello from Colorado!
Thanks! And there is a tray that Shure offers that has screwed for this and other ones. But it might be discontinued since the PGXD model was also discontinued. But any 1U rack shelf and some Velcro are always an option 👍
I use the PGXD with the SM58. It is used for receptions in a gallery space. Why is it that the mic works great when nobody is in the room, for checks, but as soon as the room is full off people, the mic barely works at all? We have the receiver mounted about 10' high on the wall. Thanks.
thank you for your videos ,very helpful.you might know this question. Is it posible to mix SLX4 receiver with blx transmitter as long as they share the same frequency?
Any chance you can talk about how to remove the lavalier mic? I cannot seem to remove it. Wasn't sure if it is a press & pull -- or screw off. There seems to be threads at the base. I don't want to force it and break it. Thank you!
You cannot have them on at the same time. If you did that, you would have to turn the mic off when using the pickup, and then turn the mic off when using the pickup 👍
You would need a second transmitter. One for the pickup and one for a microphone 👍 If they are going to the same receiver, you can use one receiver as long as you turn off the mic when using the pickup and vise versa 🤘
I have this system but it has been sitting in the garage in a secured case for about ten years. I need to use a wireless system this weekend and was wondering if you think it would still work if it’s been sitting there? Or if it’s bad to use it if it’s been sitting there the whole time
Yeah, definitely. You can't do two transmitters at the same exact time, and you'll have to t urn one off before using the other one. But you can use as many transmitters as you want going to the same receiver (as long as they are not on at the same time)
I did a review on the BLX as well here: ua-cam.com/video/k5OM4GUJNvQ/v-deo.html I would go BLXR personally between the 2. It’s a great entry level system, but both of them are great and you wouldn’t be disappointed with either one 👍
Looking it up, it looks like it needs to be connected to an XLR connector, so that would not work with this system since you need a Shure PGXD transmitter to work with it. But you can check out a video I did on a XLR dongle you can attach and get wireless out of any XLR system: ua-cam.com/video/gCgIhlSP6Oc/v-deo.html
I have 3 shure pgxd hand held ,,after only 3 months 2 of them are cutting out ,tried changing channels no good!!,,Going back to the original pgx2 and pgx4 way more reliable
You can just be in a crowded RF environment. These are entry level systems and that can happen in crowded areas. I do like the older model better than the newer one though
Hey! Nice video: I do have a question though. I will be picking the PGXD up in a few weeks after making final payment on it. It will be my first wireless guitar system. Well, I just now started thinking about how to connect it to a the pedals on my pedalboard and I guess I was just curious on your thoughts on mounting the receiver to a pedalboard to avoid running additional lengths of cables from the receiver to the first pedal. Thoughts? And sorry for the dumb question. Played guitar for years and played in bands years ago as a teenager, but never had wireless then so a little clueless. HA!
I got mine for free with a SM58 & the pack included. It's a gem! Now I need to grab that right angle adapter!
Absolutely super informative video. Thanks!
Good Video, very informative, you've sold me on the PGXD-14 , Thanks!! 😀👍
Thanks! It’s a great wireless, enjoy 🤘
Hey James! I was curious on how to set up the wireless system with my pedals as well. Thanks!
Transmitter plugs into guitar, receiver plugs into the first input on your pedal board 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic appreciate it thanks!!😎😎

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words 🤘 And no, the PGX won’t work as an IEM system. You’ll have to buy an IEM system separately 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks Scott. Thought so, but wasn’t really sure.
Great video! Quick question. How did you mount the receiver onto your rack?
Thanks! And there is a tray that Shure offers that has screwed for this and other ones. But it might be discontinued since the PGXD model was also discontinued. But any 1U rack shelf and some Velcro are always an option 👍
Thanks for another great video!
Thank you for the video I’m for sure going to get this system
Nice! Enjoy the wireless 🤘
Again thank you so much for these videos they really help me diced witch wireless to get because this will be my first wireless system
Basic question - can 1 PGXD4 handle 2 separate wireless microphones at the same time?
No, they cannot be on at the same time. You can turn one off and the other one on and have them set to the same channel though
I use the PGXD with the SM58. It is used for receptions in a gallery space. Why is it that the mic works great when nobody is in the room, for checks, but as soon as the room is full off people, the mic barely works at all? We have the receiver mounted about 10' high on the wall. Thanks.
That’s odd, if it has direct line of sight, people shouldn’t interfere.
Do I need 2 transmitters and 2 recievers. one for the guitar and one for a head mic?? Or can I use 2 transmitters with one reciever. Thanks
You’ll need one transmitter and one receiver for every wireless you plan to use at once
I didn’t understand some moments because of my English, but thank you for video❤️
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful
quick question .. a receiver just supports 1 body pack ? if i have 2 guitars and a mic , each one needs to buy a receiver and body pack ??
Correct 👍
Can you sync an analog receiver with digital transamiter?
No, you cannot with this one
@@ScottUhlMusic damn thanks 🙏
Please sir… The PGX... (Not the digital one)... Is it made in Mexico or China?
That I don’t know
@@ScottUhlMusic Ah bummer. I'm looking at buying one, secondhand, but it is made in China and I'm concerned it might be a fake.
thank you for your videos ,very helpful.you might know this question. Is it posible to mix SLX4 receiver with blx transmitter as long as they share the same frequency?
I do not believe that you can, but I haven’t tried
man my amp hums so loud when I use this. cant seem to sort it out. I have two power conditioners, everything should be fine... I think.
“Hum” can come from many places. I have no problems with mine, but try replacing cables and try different guitars and see if that helps
Shall I connect keyboard in the transmitter
You can, yes 👍
Any chance you can talk about how to remove the lavalier mic? I cannot seem to remove it. Wasn't sure if it is a press & pull -- or screw off. There seems to be threads at the base. I don't want to force it and break it. Thank you!
It depends on the model, but for this one it should be a press to insert and to release
great video. can I use a Shure clip on mic for saxophone which I already have? thanks.
Thanks! Which one do you have? I’m sure you could attach it to the body pack as long as the cable connection is the same 👍
Can you hook up the mic and the wireless pickup to one single receiver ?
You cannot have them on at the same time. If you did that, you would have to turn the mic off when using the pickup, and then turn the mic off when using the pickup 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic ooo ok cool man thanks 🤟🏽 o would just need to get another reciver right ?
You would need a second transmitter. One for the pickup and one for a microphone 👍 If they are going to the same receiver, you can use one receiver as long as you turn off the mic when using the pickup and vise versa 🤘
Its possible use 2 mics in one channel? Like, if i wanna sing And play guitar withonly one reciever
You would have to turn one off and then turn on the other one. You cannot use both at the same time
I have a pgx4 receiver, can I use a pgxd2 microphone with it?
If they are in the same frequency band then yes I believe so 👍
I have this system but it has been sitting in the garage in a secured case for about ten years. I need to use a wireless system this weekend and was wondering if you think it would still work if it’s been sitting there? Or if it’s bad to use it if it’s been sitting there the whole time
Yeah it should still work. I mean… give it a try and you’ll know pretty quickly! 🤘
Can I change mic for sax and guitar cable for other situations on one Pgx device? Is there the same connection?
Yeah, definitely. You can't do two transmitters at the same exact time, and you'll have to t
urn one off before using the other one. But you can use as many transmitters as you want going to the same receiver (as long as they are not on at the same time)
I have this and it makes a little noise suddenly i don't know what it is. It like a squeak
While playing? Likely it’s interference. Scan for a different channel
@@ScottUhlMusic I did that, but I'm thinking maybe it's be cause I put it very close to the mixer's wifi antena
Which one do I choose, is there a difference pgx vs blx?
I did a review on the BLX as well here: ua-cam.com/video/k5OM4GUJNvQ/v-deo.html I would go BLXR personally between the 2. It’s a great entry level system, but both of them are great and you wouldn’t be disappointed with either one 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks
Which is better for bass guitar? Plxd14 or blx14r? Thank you
Both will be the same 👍
Thank you. I went with the plxd14

Thank you for the info.
Can I pair an old PGX4 with a newer PGXD2 ?
No, you cannot unfortunately.

Yup I velcro-ed my pgx to my pedalboard with my helix. It’s actually still there 👍
InB4 all the latency purists
Hahahaha, yeah the “I can hear 2ms of latency” guys are always fun 😂
this is like reading all the info yourself, is a review based on specs, nor experience, how it works on the field.
I mention multiple times that this was my main wireless for 5 years and it never cut out on me 🤷
Could you please confirm with Sure wireless handheld mic works with Shure receiver PGX4 ?
You have to have the same system and the same band
Can you use the pgxd with a passive pick up bass?
Yes
