    Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. I'm excited about the Kevin Puts opera, "The Hours" along with the Wagner works! Interesting that Bartlett Sher is producing two of the operas. I generally think of him as a Musical Theatre/Theater producer/director. He has a much broader career than I knew about. Wonderful and informative video!

      I miss him so much. His death was the end of an era. It's just not the same without him. I don't know what it is, and I can't put it into the words, but the opera world is really... different without him. Something big changed. For some reason, I find it baffling to imagine a time when he was alive and well, singing at the Met frequently. That time feels like a happy dream now.

      @weasiesworks 2 роки тому

      I am also 74. But beside that, if you have a subscription to Sirius or are a member of the Met, you can listen to live broadcasts during the season. Only some of the operas are live simulcast in theaters, plus reshown on the following Weds afternoon. My son gifted me membership to the Met, so I go online to their website and listen from my computer. I also have downloaded their app on my TV and can watch on Demand any opera they have available, at any time.

    I’m excited for The Hours, and I CANNOT WAIT for Medea. Happy about Lohengrin, Norma, and Der Rosenkavalier. That production of Rosenkavalier is one of my all-time favorites.
    But what a BORING selection of operas besides these! The Met REALLY should worry less about money and concern themselves more with thinking outside the box. Lady Macbeth is a nice choice, but what about Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel, or Die Tote Stadt, or Respighi’s La Fiamma???

    Sad to see an institution lose its mind. This one lost it many years ago. And, I am not an old codger. Most of the "singing" is wretched; and, now we have to endure singers who are there because of their color, "directors" and designers who want to do Broadway shows and fat people who are now so very ultra in this sick culture. It all reminds me of how one feels in their 20s-the more ridiculous the better; that is "deep" we said. What a joke they all have become.

      What's the problem? Costello has been singing in Traviata /Rigoletto /Boheme for many years at Met. There is nothing new about it. I have more actual questions about Met's tenor roster. What Bliss, Anduaga, Bernheim, Volkov do at the Met? I'd prefer much better lyrical voices as Swensen for example instead of them. Why is Eyvazov still there? Many questions...

    Medea is very interesting perspective indeed, all new McVickar's productions are worth waiting for - Fedora even with such weak cast must be fabulous. Die zauberflote is very intriguing due to the very good cast. Enkhbat at last will make his anticipated Met debut. Also Anduaga somehow manages to get to the Met and Gosh, even Volkov. Obviously Eyvazov will be not the only one bad tenor at the Met. Bernheim after two years makes his delayed Met debut, though Met easily could wait for another two years. Very banal and boring season with mediocre singers. I hope MetOpera will recover after the lockdown's financial collapse and present really worthy season.
