    Gerry here in Ireland, Kev, passed my D licence (coach) today. It was "full on" for a solid hour and 20 minutes of driving on every back street and bridge and my nightmare "mini roundabouts. I was blessed with light traffic, went for a practice run before the test stuck in traffic 25 mins we just turned in a circle back to the test centre and waited for the test. Even though we did not to do this part of the test this exercise helped me with reversing around the corners. I had 7 instructors in total for the driver training (not a great idea). I had my doubts right up to the moment the tester said "well done you passed" only got 4 faults delighted with the result, now the real learning starts. Will start the rigid on the 18th of February. I went in with the attitude "I will give it my best shot " mirrors mirrors read the road ahead.

      Congratulations mate that is absolutely outstanding! Well done. 7 instructors sounds a little overkill but at least they got the job done.

    Cheers fella, very helpful video. The mirror shots were very useful in knowing when to turn in and lining up the cones.
    Just starting out on my Class 2 HGV journey. Got my medical tomorrow, hopefully will get the all clear and be able to send off my D2 and D4 forms to wait for my provisional licence.
    It's hard to tell from the video but looked like the guy was touching the rear barrier. Is that ok as long as you don't knock the barrier over or was he just super close and not touching it?
    I'm one of those "flipping southern fairies" from Croydon in Surrey. Been enjoying your videos and good to see it from the perspective of a driving instructor. Keep up the good work mate cheers 👍

      First of all, good luck on your journey. Please keep me posted on your progress.
      He wasn’t touching the barrier no, however, yes, as long as you don’t knock it over then it’s a pass. We treat it like it’s a bay in a warehouse. You also get 2 shunts (if it’s going wrong) also you get the chance to move it at the end as the examiner will ask if you are happy with that, providing you haven’t knocked it over 😂 then you will be helping the examiner and instructor out it back up. 😆
      Thank you for watching, I have a few mates down in Croydon. Yes I believe people need to see the industry through the eyes of an instructor.
      I Appreciate the comments mate…keep me posted on your progress

    Hello I am from Ukraine, due to the war I am in England for 6 months, my level of English is weak, but I am trying to learn the language, I bought the official book Driving Goods Vehicles, read and translated it 4 times and this week I took 3 tests, multichoice 92/100 Hazzard perception 75/100 and CPC module 2 46/50. What's the next step, the test says I passed Category C, although I need Category C+E as well. I have to do CPC part 3a off-road reversing exercise for category C? And then I have to take the C+E, uncoupling and recoupling? Can you explain to me please. Very informative video, thank you very much. Sorry for my translation.

    • @thelifeofahgvinstructor992
      @thelifeofahgvinstructor992  Рік тому

      Yes your next step is to do your 3a reverse training, then your 3b practical, you can also do your module 4 before or after your practical, however if it’s done after then please remember 2 things, 1) you cannot start work until you receive your CPC card in the post. Please note: this is triggered upon successful completion of the practical 3b
      2) if you book your module 4 for after your 3b pass date, please don’t let the examiner take your card as you will need it for your module 4 exam. Hope this helps

    • @thelifeofahgvinstructor992

    • @thelifeofahgvinstructor992
      @thelifeofahgvinstructor992  Рік тому +4

      Do not worry about this, most company’s like ours have a yellow marker attached to the spray suppression, you just line up the marker to the yellow box, it’s all about speed control, so if you have a the option use the turtle mode on reverse. Also most pad layouts will have some numbers down the middle or on the sides of the pad, this can also be a reference.
      I hope this helps

      I was taught to line my right shoulder up with one of the numbers on the yellow measuring tape painted on the tarmac. It's always best to err on the side of caution as you're allowed to get out and have a look once and jump back in and finish off the reverse if you're a bit short without incurring any faults.
