GT took chances. The execution was flawed, but it wasn't afraid to tell a different story. Super played it safe. Its executed fine, but predictable and open ended in usual Toriyama fashion.

Torytaro who currently draws the DBS manga made a story called Dragon Ball AF which takes place 5 years after the GT ending you should check it out.Theres a bonus chapter that explains what happened to Goku after getting hit by Omega Sherons attack and falling into the hole Goku died but his spirt and the real shenrons spirit made a deal that he’ll revive Goku for a few minutes to defeat Omega but the catch is that Goku will become a host for shenron and return to the dragon realm forever.Which would explain how Goku knew what was going to happen.You made some very good points in this video without really knowing much about the ambiguous ending which is why you’ve earned a sub keep up the good work bro

Although it has it's faults, the ending of GT is a true work of art. Before getting DBS, GT's ending always left a wave of emotion after watching what was the whole DB series at the time all come to an end.

I am going to be honest with myself here. I used to be part of the hate chain for GT. At that point I hadn't even seen a single episode of GT in my life. After writing this comment, I have finished the entire series of GT, including the movie "A hero's legacy."
The ending of the final episode "Until we meet again!" brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't even try to hold them back. I let those tears flow down my eyes, onto my sheets, onto my clothes, as I felt many mixed emotions. Emotions of happiness, sadness, nostalgia, and more. As this scene played, showing us the many encounters and problems Goku had faced in the past. As the original japanese version of Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku played showing these scenes it made me feel so damn nostalgic. I am saying, GT is awesome. Alot of GT haters have not even seen the show. You should watch GT from start to finish when you get the chance. It took me about 2 weeks, watching multiple episodes each day.
The first saga felt slow going through it, but it wasn't all bad. There were some bad parts in my opinion, my favorite moments from this arc were probably these 2: Goku VS Ledgic, and Goku VS General Rildo.
The Baby saga was awesome, Baby was an amazing concept for a villian, and is one of my favorite villians of all of Dragon Ball. Memorable scenes from the Baby Saga for me are:

Goku transforming into SSJ4 for the first time
Baby Vegeta VS SSJ4 Goku
Baby Vegeta transforming into an oozaru.
The Super Android 17 Saga was good too in my opinion, GT didn't need an asspull like Super to make 17 able to match Goku.
Dr. Gero and Dr. Myu working together in hell to create a Hell fighter Android 17 to fuse with the original Android 17 to create a beast unstoppable, Super Android 17.

By far my most favorite saga out of them all, the Shadow Dragons Saga.
It was a very nice, original concept. With how much the Z Fighters and people of Earth have overused the Dragonballs, and making them have consequences is something GT did that Super never will. Making overusing the Dragon balls having consequences is fantastic. It makes sense, because after the Dragon balls are used, they are sent across the planet and are supposed to only be used once every 100 years so the negative energy inside them can be released before another wish is made. But with how much the z fighters used the dragon balls, the negative energy built up so high inside them they cracked, and when they summoned Shenron, they summoned Black Smoke Shenron, who released all of the 7 Shadow Dragons across Earth, wreaking havoc. I personally did not like Haze, or Rage shenron. They had some really cringy parts which I hated. My favorite & most memorable scenes from this saga are:

And now, for the greatest moment in all of GT, everything leading up to this moment.
As Goku rises out of the crater, carrying a Spirit Bomb in his hands, as it grows, absorbing the energy it can from Earth, as Omega Shenron tries to stop it, it is futile as Goku tells King Kai, and he informs the other kais as a Universal spirit Bomb is created, as the energy given to it comes from various planets, including the ones they encountered in the first saga. This Spirit Bomb was the finish to omega for good. If you read this far, thank you, I honestly appreciate it, and I am proud to be a GT fan.
I just finished gt and the problem is 30 episodes are pretty good but there are also 30 terrible episodes and most of the terrible episodes are at the beginning so a lot of people drop it early. Though the last episode was amazing

Someone else who understands, seriously though. GT has a lot of problems, Baby for instance could have been the best villain in DB with just a bit more thought put into it but Baby is still a good villain. But GT is honestly better than Super imo, Goku and Vegeta have progressed as characters and none of what happened in DBZ is erased. In super they basically removed Vegeta's character progression.
The cast of GT honestly is great, I know a lot of people hate the beginning of GT as they have the worst episodes normally making some reference to the original DB, but having Pan, Trunks, and Goku as main characters created an enjoyable trio that even on the worst episodes had some charm to it.
That's exactly how I feel about other people that hate GT, like their joining in on the hate because of others and haven't seen the whole story on it's entirety, but at least you've changed your ways because those type of people are toxic and can never form an opinion of their own.

After fully watching all of GT including the movie, I agree. I used to be a GT hater, but that was before I ever watched GT. I can bet alot of other GT haters gave never even watched a episode of GT and are following the train of other haters and joining them without thinking. GT is awesome!

When Goku swallowed the Four Star Sphere and it landed on his forehead, he automatically created a bond with Shenlong. He finally realized that he was responsible for virtually all requests made to the Dragon to repair errors. The Saiyan realized that he was primarily responsible for causing all those problems to Earth.
You see, Freeza just came to Earth to take revenge on Goku, Cell would never have existed if it weren't for Goku, and even Majin Boo would never have awakened. That is, he always attracted bad things. So in that moment, taking into account that Goku is an extremely powerful being he may have decided that when it was over, he would leave with Shenlong.
Another good reason that reinforces this is the fact that Goku is practically dead but still manages to get up and still perform the Genki Dama to end Omega Shenlong. At this point in question, it is most likely that he received direct help from Shenlong.
Also, shortly after Goku leaves, Pan finds his shirt on the floor and guards it. But in the scene where he is with Shenlong, he is wearing his shirt. That is, Goku really died in the battle and that would just be his spirit leaving with Shenlong after his agreement. What further reinforces this is that he managed to go to hell to say goodbye to Piccolo.
The moment the 7 Dragon Balls entered his body, Goku became a deity. The character then proceeded to observe the Earth from afar for his own safety.

Goku giving up his soul in exchange for the power to defeat Omega Shenron and save the lives of his loved ones and everyone else on Earth makes complete sense. I like to think that as a result of him doing this (makingthe ultimatesacrifice), he was granted special treatment to keep his body and soul living on forever for all eternity, just like he does in our minds and hearts as fans of the series.

I watched Dbz when I was a kid, and after as I was about 10 I watched GT, and I liked, and I know that everyone hates it, but the way that we saw the character older and the ending, I really liked it. I love that you actually talked about what is good on dragon ball GT.

DB Super is garbage. It makes GT look like a masterpiece. GT has some very weak elements to it, but it also has some very strong ones and has special moments in it. Super has no strong elements and no special moments in it.

I just finished GT for the first time and loved it. It’s already nostalgic to me somehow. Really liked the new villains and I liked Pan’s character.
It's nostalgic because is the only dragon ball content since the first serie about adventure and not only about action, it's similar to the first dragon ball... super has never been close to it and Z did it just with namek saga, and maybe sayans too.. but from androids it became just the next superpowerful villain, and I really can't stand how close to that line is the new content.

Generally whether or not you like GT depends on what you want from dragon ball. If you don't care about plot and you want big fights then Super is for you. If you like plot, adventure, and character development then GT is for you.

My Theory:
So all the way from the Dragon Ball Z Cell Saga to the ending of GT; Goku has tried to get the current generation of Earth's warriors to get used to taking care of itself. First with Gohan fighting Cell then with Goten & Trunks defeating Majin Buu then with Gohan trying to defeat Super Buu. I think he knew then they shouldn't be so reliant on him or the Dragon Balls because they weren't always going to be there to defend them. I don't think he died , but I do think he struck a deal with the Dragon Balls. Something along the lines of " if you let me use you to save earth this one last time; I promise we'll let you rest to regain your energy." The only way to make sure the balls could rest though is to have Goku become a sort of Guardian of the Dragon Balls to ensure nobody would abuse them.
That sound plausible and would explain the gt movie

The opening theme and the last episode were EPIC!! I liked GT when I was child, I liked it even better than Z. Now I prefer the other sagas but I still remember it warmly and watch my favorite episodes from time to time. The ending always makes me cry. It was just beautiful

The GT ending was so perfectly done it’s my favorite part of the series. I think when people think of why GT gets the hate it did they don’t realize that for us growing watching DBZ in the new internet age, we had heard of GT for over half a decade before it ever got aired on TV and it had an unfair amount of expectations on it.
When we saw it, it didn’t live up to DB or DBZ and it made us resent it. That may be unfair to the show but that was why it was so maligned by fans.

GT really doesn't get enough love. I like the beginning of the series and the nearly aimless meandering; it puts me in mind of original Dragonball days, back before it was men grunting at each other. I liked the battle with the shadow dragons, because conceptually it seems right, exploring the nature of the dragon balls and the wishes. The best part was how the four-star ball got purified of its evil simply by merging with Goku for a while; that's been part of Goku's magic from day one, he helps others turn away from evil. All in all, GT knew how to work with the material that preceded it, and indeed how to celebrate it.
As for the ending, I can't say that Goku died, but he definitely moved to a different level of being. Dying means a physical body stops functioning and a soul leaves it (certainly that's how it works in the DB universe anyway). I don't think that's quite what we saw with Goku, though he's not ordinary flesh and blood either.
well, if we wanna assume GT could still be canon, after learning Saiyan deity techniques, I'd say he reached godhood beyond basic deity, and was finally taking his place as one of them. I mean, it would make sense, considering the final scene of GT he looks like regular old Goku despite a least a century or so passing and Pan being elderly.

@@bulldawg986 The director of the episode stated he left out the halo because he didn't want to make it obvious. In fact, most of the points pointing to him being alive is done on purpose to keep it ambiguous. An interview talking about this final GT episode was released.

I always liked GT as a kid. Sure it had some flaws, but the ending is perfect. Truly satisfying yet bittersweet and while it feels final it is hopeful at the same time and leaves just enough room for anyone to view it anywhere on scale from literal to something more. Glad to see others who also appreciate it.

tbh super was my favourite saga compared to all it introduced 12 universes beginning with universe 6 vs 7 and ending with the tornament of power which includes all the universes and the which loses gets obliterated and the show also included the day to day life of goku and it's family

Still Like GT better than Super. I like conclusions and stories that go full circle. I like that GT revisited the original adventure of Dragonball on a grand-scale. GT felt like a good conclusion to me with the final boss being related to the Dragonballs.
Super seemed like it was aimed more for new people who were just now coming into super. Thru should adapt gt into Canon just like they brought in broly.

I think one moment in GT happens in "A Hero's Legacy", when Goku Jr. begins to cry desperately asking why Shenron isn't being summoned. The moment when Goku appears to Goku Jr. and the moment he shared with him, telling him how proud he is for being brave and his love for Pan brought him to the Four Star ball. I remember seeing that and genuinely having to hold back tears because it was so genuine and dubbed very well. Even Goku's silliness not knowing how old he is saying, "Well I'm your, uh......great, great, great.....well just call me Grandpa Goku!"

I don't give a damn to anyone bashing GT, when I was just 4 years old I'm always amazed to this series and even cried for it when one morning it's not on the TV anymore so my mom bought a DVD of it as a birthday present for me.
Still so many sweet memories associated with this, even if I take the nostalgia away from it... it still never fails to awe me now that I am 20 by the time I was writing this.

I've never really watched GT that much but seeing youtube videos and hearing that Goku disappears from everybody while saying goodbye sounds so god damn sad.... like having a friend you know for an extremely long time says goodbye and straight up disappears... that's really sad...
God damn I can't imagine how I will feel if I actually watched GT backed then without knowing if they'll make anymore Dragon ball after that ending... it's like you're not ready to say goodbye... good thing I didn't see it because I would've been super sad. I'm glad Dragon Ball Super is out.
But even then there was the ending song in super where it was a manga page going up through all the stuff that happened in the past and at the end of the page you see Goku staring at the sky. He looks at the screen, waves goodbye and flys away into the sky....
It made me realize.... that one day... Dragon Ball as a whole will officially be over and never get a sequel... ever again..... and that it was officially.... goodbye...

Honestly this ending is something I can only see once as it basically implies that we would never see Goku again. It's a good ending, but too depressing for me.

Ian Hernandez my cousin legit just told me don’t even attempt to watch it. So i can’t say if I do or not but I’ve heard of everything that happens. Dbs isn’t amazing but it is cool. Expanding the universe as it does and the difference of God ki vs mortal ki is neat. All the God stuff is great. Everything about it.. the bad stuff comes with the character writing. Goku is dumber ( but I think it’s because he’s become so strong it’s all became so boring that he doesn’t even need to win by thinking , just by brute force ) vegeta seems odd to me he seems like a shell of himself almost like all of the other characters they’re like very dumbed down to the point of only having they’re very main adjectives.
Gohan ; scholar and father.
Vegeta: Gokus rival and prince of sayians. Goten and trunks ; they’re kids.
Bulma ; scientist
Future trunks; over dramatic and protective
Videl: (who got it the worst. )Gohan’s wife. That’s it , she was a sarcastic martial artist who never stepped down from any fight .... now is just Gohan’s wife.
Broly ; a slave to fighting for his father but really just an innocent man who wants friends , and has a power that he can’t control ..... oh wait no skip that one that’s actually pretty deep
But no jokes , super , not counting the movie Has a problem with lack of depth with all its characters. And doesn’t use its old characters almost at all and it hurts the show . That’s the second problem. All the other characters are either never there or reduced to background characters. Like they’re there but they don’t do anything. And then lately giving random power ups to characters out of no where which Is always a problem because it doesn’t show the struggle to get there.
However , I still like super a lot because of its world building and new ideas that it adds. Everything with the gods , angels , God ki , time rings , Zeno , grand priest , the guy who knows everything , time skipping , super dragon balls, multiple universes , ultra instinct, bringing back kioken and the inclusion with the galactic patrol are all really fantastic things that make the show really enjoyable. But like what did GT bring? Ssj4 , Black Star dragon balls, the bad dragons, the para para brothers and baby.

I didn’t exist when Dagon ball gt was created but my dads love for db lives on in me, I get nostalgic for dragon ball gt. dbz has a special place in my brain, life and finally, my heart ❤️.
only ever saw GT In bits and pieces as a kid, just watched it through completely for the first time and man that ending hit right in the feels. obviously GT has it flaws but there so much about GT I prefer than what we are getting in Super
This ending makes me cry, I've been watching DBZ and DBGT when I was in elementary way back 1995. Dbz and DBGT are the Best anime for me of all time. 💞💕💞💕😭😭
