I love that $5 meals are still possible with how crazy inflation is. I made 7 dinners for $20 a few weeks ago and it was tough, but possible.
Thanks for some more meal ideas Abby ❤
Thank YOU for watching!
Did you make a video? That would be great to c.
@@annawhite2506 yes! It’s on my channel 😊
Hard to do still, but, possible! We gatta be cooking from scratch and using what we have ❤❤ I've raised my kids for 14-15 years on very cheap ingredients so that when the time came we would all be okay, well the hard times are here and here to stay from what I can see 😢❤❤
looks so yummy yes please do I make a lasagna soup it is hamburger tomato paste can of tomatoes and parmesan cheese it is amazing
Sounds great!
So funny, in New Zealand the jar of mayo on it's own would be 7 dollars lol
holy crap that would cost at least 50-70 $ here
$5 dinners are more impressive now with the food prices how they are. I love these quick ideas.
I'm glad you liked it!
Cutting the grilled cheese onto bite sized pieces makes wonderful croutons for tomato soup too!
They've always been impressive 😊♥️😊♥️😊
A tip for fried rice- you can also make the rice the day before and let it sit in the fridge overnight before you fry it! It gives it more of the "fried rice" texture. (fun fact, fried rice was originally a way to use leftover rice!!) I think it's good both ways, this is just something I learned that I liked!
Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing
I’ll have to try that!
On that same theme, you should cool it on a baking sheet separated in a fridge or freezer instead of clumped in a bowl for best texture.
The BEST Rrice to use for fried rice is basmati or jasmine rice. I use hoisin sauce, and a tad of oyster sauce, as well as sesame oil in my fried rice. The sesame oil really adds the wok hei flavor we know and love from the Chinese wok cooking. Adding some sugar too helps to balance out the salt flavor of the dark (not the typical Kikoman JAPANESE sauce at most grocery stores) and light soy sauces (google it), and you’ll have that type of restaurant style fried rice that you can’t stop eating😃😃.
@@thesimplifiedsaver7052 Also use a wok, and learn how to eat up the wok. Than cook the frozen veggie first. Than fry the rice the way you did it and dont use oil. if you heat up the wok right you dont need oil. In ur video fry rice not suppose to be that wet. But good video tho not trying to be judgmental. Just giving tips.
The way you just made fried rice was so easy!! I love your $5 meals!! Yes, please post more!! Mommas are all trying to save a buck around here. 😊
You got it! Thanks for watching!
Love this! I would love more crockpot freezer meal ideas. Currently pregnant with #2 and I know having some ready to dump in the pot meals will take pressure off of me.
Great idea!!
These are all great recipes! Sometimes I realize I make things far more difficult than necessary. These meals should be on my table more often. They are still good for meal prepping for the week too since I’m the only person in my home 😊
Yes! Simple is best I agree
When cooking noodles, cook it with butter, salt and black pepper in the noodle water then strain the buttery noodle water and save it for making gravy the following morning.
I sauté the scrambled eggs separately and then add them to the rice. Otherwise I feel like the rice absorbs the eggs. Add a rotisserie chicken and voila! I also use a tiny bit of sesame oil & scallions.
Oh that's a good idea! Thanks for sharing
Love these, thank you. Another super cheap meal is “corn dog casserole” my kids devour it. A box of cornbread, hotdogs & whatever condiments to put over the finished meal. Mix cornbread according to directions, slice hotdogs and add to mixture, pour in baking dish for time on cornbread box & then add condiment when finished or eat as it. It’s like $3.88 (before inflation hit) lol.
Love that!
These meals are also great for us senior singles that have trouble cooking. I just have to reduce the ingredients which make them even cheaper. Thank you!
So glad they were helpful!
Tomato soup and grilled cheese is my fav.! Looks delicious!!
So good!
Thanks for the $5 meal video! 👋🏻 A very good reminder that we really can keep many meals simple and not costly! ✅
Thanks for watching!
I plugged into my Walmart app all the ingredients for every recipe, so in my area (New England), this haul would cost me $39.85. Not bad!
That's not bad - thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for this. Can’t ever go wrong with good ol grilled cheese n tomato soup. My all time childhood fav and a fav in my house now ❤️
Same here! so so good
Well done, I liked the variety of meals you made. I also like the "style" of this video, it seemed calm & reassuring in these uncertain times. Looking forward to the next video!
I'm so glad you liked it!
These five dollar meals are lifesavers right now. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for bringing this back 😊👍, I've missed $5 dinners👏👏🥳
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the ideas. Simple and easy. I live in East TN and our Walmart bakery bread has gone up to $1.47 a loaf.
Not outrageous but still frustrating!
These meals are great for retired folks like hubs and me. I like good simple meals. We get food bank food with lots of beans, lentils and rice. Thank you so much. God bless you and family, God bless all here. ✝️
I love your recipes thank you 😊 wish everyone a great safe day.
Thank you! You too!
Our budget is REALLY tight the next few weeks. I appreciate these ideas so much. And also, you're absolutely stunning:)
Ugh, I miss the $1 French bread from the bakery! In my area, it’s up to $1.47
Ugh!! I feel your pain.
Ahh.....the old lunch special back in the day when there was "actual" cooking ladies in the kitchen....could smell tomato soup and grilled cheese with homemade peanut butter cookies for lunch when we got off the bus and entered the doors in the morning :) :) :)
Classic meal right there!
I'm super impressed! $5 meals are getting more and more challenging.
Campbell's tomato soup is my favorite. That's one I don't enjoy as a generic (that I have tried so far anyway). That cheese pull was primo, haha. My kids are home this week so we had this for a meal one day. Such a yummy comfort food. We like to add ham to it, also.
It definitely was more of a challenge! It's tough to beat Campbell's tomato soup you're right :)
I didnt have a choice as a kid weather it was campbells lol 😂 but yes nothing beats it but I dont turn my nose up to the cheap cans if im on a budget
I bake tortilla pizzas in the oven, like personal pizzas. It works beautifully, like a thin crust. So tasty.
Love that!
Thanks for this $5 meal video. It's a nice reminder that we don't have to over complicate things. I am putting those pizzadillas on the menu for this weekend. My kids are going to absolutely love them. I would love to see more budget meals. Thanks so much for all your amazing videos.
You are so welcome! And agreed, simple is best!
Thank you for sharing I needed this! You should try adding sesame seed oil to the rice you guys will love it , it gives it that authentic hibachi taste 💙
Try living in Jersey. It cost ya 5 bucks to pull out your driveway. Your ideas give me inspiration however and if it cost me an extra 2 bucks a meal I'm ok with that.
Hope it provides a little relief to you!
Love the recipes!!
Although the no butter on the bread for grilled cheese threw me for a second 😂😂😂
Haha!
Do you soak your beans overnight for 15 bean soup? New here and loving your channel.
Yes! And welcome - thanks for watching!
Yes please. More cheap meals and quick ones too. Like 3 ingredient meals or a 3 ingredient snack food. 😄
Will do!!
Yummy! Thanks for sharing. Have you ever tried using garlic butter to make your grilled cheese sandwiches? (It's yummy if you like garlic!)
That sounds so good!
Yay! I love your $5 dinner videos so excited to see a new one!
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for all these great ideas! Since I cook for one, things like the pasta and fried rice will be on my make ahead for meal preps. I will probably put the sandwiches together and freeze ahead of time, then chuck them into the air fryer to reheat for a quick dinner.
Great idea for the air fryer!
I always soak my beans for a couple hours before putting into crockpot :)
Yes that's a good move!
I usually only add fresh or canned mushrooms to my alfredo pasta, so this might be a good change up. I will say when using "fresh" bacon in the bag, keep in mind it does spoil after the bag has been opened. Speaking from experience I used some for a recipe and then a few months later opened the bag back up for a different recipe, oh lord big mistake! Mold city, my bad!
Thank you for sharing!
😬 refridge next time 😆
Wished hubby and I ate as little as you do.Mayb we wouldn't be diabetic anymore.Love you meal ideas.
Thanks for watching!
Great video praying you and baby are doing well in your pregnancy happy new year
Thank you so much!
Love how they don’t help with the process but always want to know when the food is done 😂 our sweet babies no matter the age lol
Haha!
Another way I like making tomato soup is a can of tomato puree with milk mixed in and some garlic salt. It's our favorite!
Sounds great!
Actually the pasta sauce sounds even better than puree!
Love all your videos. How does a large can of tomato soup feed all 5 of you? Or don’t the kids eat it? My kids are grown so I’m probably forgetting how much/how little they eat. I’m used to cooking for 4 adults!
Meals definitely vary by family size, of course. Right now this is what works for us. Eventually I'll be making much larger meals! Hope you still enjoyed it and got some meal ideas. Thanks for watching!
Yesss I love this series!!!
I'm so glad!
Ok, super impressed...I would eat every single one of them. I love that you include the children..I always pull mine in to help.
Thanks so much!
I am all about these $5 meals! There is something so humbling about making something tasty & delicious that lasts me a few days. Before pandemic I was blowing so much money on eating out and even doordash because I was too lazy and just needed some instant gratification. My whole mindset has changed for the better. Keep this content coming! ❤️
I totally agree! Same here!
Thank you for having meals that weren't based on some really amazing meat deal you found. It's actual inexpensive meals!
It really is!
I’ve missed these! Also, did I miss you’re pregnant???? Congratulations!!!
Yes! Very pregnant right now, haha.
Thank you! Great idea and kid friendly!
You're welcome!
Trying to catch up on your videos…is that an ATL GA shirt you have on?! Yay! ATL girl here! ❤️ PS I know it’s your initials. 😅
Actually never been in Atlanta! :) Haha
I caught that lol said "all u need is some mozzarella sauce" i think ur words just ran together bc u was so excited.... it's all good boo u keep doing u &given us great ideas....
Thanks for watching!!
Even better and healthier than Campbells tomato’s soup is a great Omari basil pasta sauce with cream. No high fructose corn syrup
Nice!
I would love to see how you organize your kids toys. After Christmas my house feels SO OVERWHELMING with what to do with all of these new toys etc!!!
Great idea!!
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed.
I'm so glad :)
Thank you for these ideas. I love tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Me too!!
Great video, thank you..congrats on new baby !!
Thank you!
We literally just had the pene Alfredo with peas! Didn't think about putting the bacon bits in there, but that looks good. We would do imitation bacon bits though since my kid is a vegetarian.
It's a great meal!
Subscribed! Your ideas are great and easy to make.
Thank you!
I just made that 15 bean soup with leftover ham from Christmas....LOL !!!! My 18 yr.old son loves it :) I add chopped ham, onions, Rotel and the basic 4 seasonings and 6 cups of water----Add the packet at the end of cooking..
That is awesome!
Another tomato soup recipe is to use pasta sauce instead of tomato soup. Just add cream
Sounds great!
I love your kitchen it looks so beautiful and functional!
Thank you! We love it too
I make same Alfredo with peas! Thanks for the bacon tip! I will try that next time!
You are so welcome!
that bean soup bag is awesome with a smoked sausage (dollartree) sliced in it.
So good!!
🔥🔥🔥
We get that 15 bean soup but the seasoning is terrible imo. Great deal though and it does stretch out.
It's a filling meal!
Great meal ideas. Nice you had a little helper.
Thank you 😊
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOUR FAMILY🎊♥️🍕
Happy New Year to you and yours!
I love the 15 bean soup as well. My family eats it up. I haven't made fried rice in so long. Definitely going to have to put those on the rotation. 🙂🙂
Do you have a $5 breakfast video?
What is a good recipe for the 15 bean,
My family likes the Cajun seasoning so I like to dice an onion, bell pepper (usually red), smoked sausage, chicken broth, water, Old Baby Cajun seasoning, 2 or 3 cloves of garlic 2 bay leaves and I cook it on low in the crockpot for 6 to 8 hours. I serve these over rice with a veggie on the side. Sometimes I make cornbread to go with. Just depends on how that night's going.
If I do the "ham" 15 bean soup I do a ham bone if I have one or chunks of leftover ham (I've even used the diced ham from Walmart, ham hocks or even bacon), onion garlic, salt, pepper, 2 bay leaves and enough water to cover the beans plus 2 inches or so. Then I cook them in the crockpot on low for 6 to 8 hours. I serve these ones with fried potatoes and cornbread.
Great video idea!
I like seeing these budget meals…very creative… ✔️
Thank you!
I've often done peas and tuna, I've never considered peas and bacon. Thanks!!!
Hope you enjoy!
Thank you for sharing! It really hard because everything going up and my boyfriend is diabetes and he have to be careful with salt intake too
I hope it's helpful!
Love them keeping them coming cute momma
Thank you!
I love these recipes they look delicious and Happy New Year Abbie to you and your family
HNY to you and yours!
This is so funny. I love the bread you shown but it went from being a $1.00 to $1.74 at my Walmart LOL
Great meals girl!!
$1.47 at my store now!
Thanks for watching!
@@thesimplifiedsaver7052 $0.80 at HEB though, gotta love it!
My Walmart , I like wheat bread and it was $1.25
Thanks for all your simple good meal ideas! I'm a single person and meal prep! Thanks for your videos! Love them!
I have missed the $5 meals. Great ideas as always.
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the 5 dollar meal video. Keeping it simple is so much better. The economic inflation has challenged us Especially! Especially with the little ones! You are doing a magnificent job!
Congratulations on the new little one!
(From triple cities, upstate NY)
Impressive! I have some great ideas now!
Great to hear!
I appreciate these recipes so much, you have no idea!! ❤️😢
Girl you need a griddle... I had 7 children and i had to get one when my kids were little it cam in so handy for French toast and pancakes and grilled cheese just a helpful tip.. thank you for these wonderful ideas!!! ❤ Merry Christmas to you and your stinking cute children!!! God's blessing!!!!❤
Thank you for bringing these back! I love sharing them with my younger adult children who live on their own now and have small food budgets 😀
I'm so glad! Thanks for sharing
That 15 beans with some spice sausage and rice.😋
Oh yeah!
Pizza tortilla is a genius idea. I know some people make those for low carb food. But folding it works even better
yes more please ..
More to come :)
I use mayonnaise on the outside of my bread when making grilled cheese.
I cleaned up my eating a lot. Took out gluten and dairy. Don't do hotdogs or other sliced meats. And I regret it. Because now I'll eat anything "normal" and I get bloated. Feel the inflammation in my body. Trying to do cheap groceries GF and DF is a lost cause I think 😢
Your kids are very blessed to have you as a Mom!!!
Aww thank you
I definitely want to try the sweet pea Alfredo. Everything looks delicious. And I must say that Vera is a beautiful little girl.
Thank you!!
Yiu ca. Make cheap meals if you don't use meat basically, find a way to cut back or leave meat out. These meals don't seem very filling for adults.
Love love love $5 dinners
Same here!
I like adding sauteed onions and black pepper to my tomato soup , especially if i have any congestion.. its soothing
Cheapest in the PNW is Fred Meyer and WinCo with WinCo having an edge,
Loved the fried rice recipe! Wish my family was more flexible and I could make it for them.
Yummy stuff but don't want to watch u stir forever
Loved this video! I have all the ingredients for the fried rice. I’m going to make that this weekend!
Awesome!!
excellent! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I really have to start doing this. I cry i cant save money but i eat out all the time. Atleast 25 to 40 bucks a day. Its insane..
This is awesome! I actually looked like you at that time last year with the big belly lol
My baby was born December 6th
I love this so much!💜
I'm so glad!!
Meals look doable and tasty. Thanks for the ideas!
You are so welcome!
