Awesome painting tips Joni! #2 I sometimes use a wet palette to help keep my paints dry especially if I know I'm going to have a very slow painting. But normally I'm like you and like to finish a painting in the same day if at all possible. #10 Your right about painting in the right frame of mind and to let go from our frustrations before we start a painting. I also believe this help with making a better painting since we are not influenced with our negative emotions of the day. And to go out for a walk and to simply enjoy nature (birds singing, squirrels climbing trees, etc.,) all helps to enter into the correct peaceful state of mind which in turn allows us to paint better. You are a beautiful person in and out. God bless you Joni! 🙏😀👏👍

I started many paintings the last few weeks to lose the mood or what I was trying to accomplish with that painting. Frustrated, I threw out, or gesso the canvas. Took a break and started to watch just videos of painting and off-grid living in Canada, lol. Still, I could not get over that hump. I was practicing, but I really wanted to get back into it. So, I picked up my camera and started to take hikes along the ocean and in our wilderness alone to breathe. It worked. I always thought it was the painting that relaxed me, but come to realize I need to relax for paint. Your tips are very helpful. Thanks so much Joni.

Thank you so much for your videos. I am 62 and just recently started painting. I find it very relaxing and takes me away from life’s stresses while I’m immersed in painting. It is videos like yours that makes me look like I know what I’m doing.

Joni I swear that last one #10 is THE BEST advice I've heard! Everyone keeps saying "just take a break and go back to it later.." NO! When I paint I don't want to stop. I like to get it done in one sitting! Lol and YES! I said the other day, I've had painters block for like 2 weeks! It's quite depressing! I only have $25 but I'm about to go use all of it to get me a bigger canvas and a brush I really need and a few colors that I've been needing. I feel like no one understands that I can't do my art if I'm missing things. Painting is my escape.. I need that therapy. So I'm not going to feel bad this time for spending $ on myself. It's much cheaper and a heck of a lot more fun than sitting and crying to a counselor for 1 hour..
I love you! Thank you so much, I do not take these videos for granted! God guess you Joni! 🙏🏼 💜

I really connected to your words, and I looked up your tips and product ideas already.
I really want to express myself through painting and drawing. I'm struggling right now, but I'm going to clear my mind and zone into things I love that bring me joy, all things in nature.
Just accepting that starting small-scale is how my paintings will improve.
I think I complicate things by expecting too much of myself right away. I need to find peace and joy at the beginning and not frustration and disappointment, that’s the hardest part for me.
I never comment, but you pace, your voice is relaxing, and I love your tips! Thanks 😊

Well, I just ran into you for the first time, and I have got to say that your video on this subject was great, and it motivated me to learn from you and to take it easy and to go from there. I can sketch very, very well. I can replicate just about anything, but putting color on the sketch is what frightens me so much. I just want and very much need to get over that hump and not be so petrified of applying paint to a canvas and bringing the sketch to life that way. That is where I truly have a serious problem, but just listening to you helped me tremendously already and I thank you so much, for you are really laid back, and the way you approach the subject of painting period already loosened me up a bit. I really needed that shove you gave me in so many right directions, that I feel that I was somehow going to run into you and your advise, someway, somehow, and I did. It is truly appreciated. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to learning all that I can from you, so thank you so much and take it easy kid!

I absolutely love your tutorials and you’re so right about the state if mind thing. A few years ago, I’d realized I forgot how to imagine simply because of the everyday conditioning of work, home, food, kids animals…. my youngest grandson taught me how to regain my imagination. He didn’t play like my kids and other grandkids I have. He made me think outside my conventional box. Opened my mind, if you will. And it’s completely changed my perspective on many things. Thank you for all your videos, as they are amazing!!

    #1 tip for brushes !
If you by mistake forget to wash your brush and it’s gone stiff, just use some gel handsanitzer, any gel like hand sanitizer. Take some in your palm and rub your brush in it on your palm, it will magically restore the brush.
