Love this bass, Richard. Beautiful depth and richness of tone. Lovely wood and workmanship as well, with such nice options. Congratulations on the fine work. I love my Folkcraft teardrop; such a wonderful instrument. Thanks for all your support and encouragement when I've had a question or an order.

Stupid question time. Would using flat wound strings sacrifice sound quality too much in order to reduce the sound of string 'scratching' as you slide up and down the round wounds?

Fabulous. beautiful sound and wood. Do you teach Bass Dulcimer? I have never seen or heard one. I have been teaching myself off & on for the last year. Gleaning teaching from you tube is not the same as one on one, but... its beginning to hit home. I have just gotten started practicing daily, in a serious way, BUT enough of that. I love the Bass sound. could I interchange my dulcimer to bass?

VERY INTERESTING... and a little bit exciting!
My wife bought me one of your beautiful, fantastic, standard, cherry wood dulcimers the Christmas before last. I love it, but was somewhat hindered from learning to play, by the pandemic, and my refusal to use the technology of Zoom, to take lessons. Now I'm excited again. After the summer rush of vacations, and families, I plan on taking real, live, in person, lessons again. BUT, I will have SOME time to chase a wild goose or two over the next month or so. A bass dulcimer has "WILD GOOSE" written all over it!
To that end, I have a homemade, cigar box thingy-ma-bob, sorta donor-dulcimer, that I'd like to convert into a bass dulcimer. What gauge strings should I use?
    Thank you for your help!
    Dar

So was that out of tune or is the intonation off in that thing?
    Something isn’t right….
