Watching the most beautiful Karen and Richard her best arrangement brother, here in Defiance Ohio, September 3, 2024. 😊 No voice will ever come close to Karen! ❤
Perfect pitch. No autotune. No gimmicks. Clear, crisp lyrics. No annoying vibralto, falsetto, scratchy voice, just singing. Someone you can sing along with, music you can dance to or whistle along with if that's what floats your boat. Such a shame that when she screwed up the courage to step out from behind the drums, people felt the need to comment on her appearance. I would guess that most of us who first heard her on the radio never cared a bit what she looked like. She died before my kids were born. I didn't have time to listen to her music with them but you bet my grandchildren will know who she was. Jeez I miss hearing her.
Well said. It's such a tragedy that society has to shame women when there is nothing to shame them about, everyone looks different and we should appreciate real people.
And a perfectly normal, average body that the average person would have been comfortable with. Curses to whoever put it in her head that she had to be something more and less.
bested out John Bonham in a drummers poll, she was # 10 & Bonham was #11.he used to rail about it, "she couldn't last 3 mins with a ZEP number, Karen Carpenter, what a load of ..."I bet they would have been good buddies. Listen to this drummer, has a Bonham sound, I miss them both.
I love this version! 💜 It was done while she was still a healthy weight before she got so sick. 😢😢😢 Greatest duo and female voice of all time. I wish she could’ve FELT the LOVE and realized she was always ENOUGH. Still listening in 2024 and enjoying every perfect note!
Wow she had a gorgeous figure here, Such a sad loss, her voice is so smooth clear and note perfect, The voice of an Angel RIP Karen you are missed dearly
I was born in 1973 but I grew up listening to the Carpenters and this song is burned into my mind. Karen has been gone for a long time now but it still hurts me to realize that.
@@garyowens1517 Every time I hear her it reminds me of the late late 70's and my very early formative years. It is amazing how attached one can get to things that early in life. I'm 48 now and still miss that time.
I agree with you there. I think that her music can stop someone in their tracks. I think that her music can make a person feel like she is singing to him or her personally. She was really great
Man she had such a rich unique voice. She wasn't trying to sing high with a bunch of vocal runs. She just focused on the quality of her sound vocally and that finely tuned mellow voice became legendary. She is truly a treasure to the world. Thankfully her voice will NEVER die !
Exactly - a case of less is more - todays' so called 'artists' could learn a thing or two from KC. Several years ago now, there was a Beatles cover album, orchestrated by George Martin himself, with various contemporary singers doing one song each. 'Here, there and everywhere' was covered by Celine Dion. George Martin is alleged to have told her to rein in her usual 'theatrical tendencies' and the song is so much better for it. An excellent, restrained cover version by an excellent singer. The best cover on the album in my opinion. Definitely worth a listen. Karen Carpenter herself actually had quite a large vocal range, but in her own words, the lower register was where the money was at. Whilst she could doubtless have challenged the amazing Christine Aguilera, she purposely kept things low key, instinctively knowing just what a particular song needed, without adding superflous runs etc.
There are tears on my laptop listening to this beautiful woman, and being drifted back to the 70s, my souls, spiritual home, because of perfection such as this. Come back, Karen. The world needs you. You can keep your Adele's, Ariade Grande, and Whitney. She was the best, then was, and still is. Xxx

Was there ever a better voice in the history of popular music? After all these years Karen's angelic vocals still melt my heart. This is one of the best feel good songs of all time.
I’m not trying to start any arguments here. I certainly agree with you about Karen. But may I add Patsy Cline and Aretha Franklin in that group? I don’t want to pick a favorite out of that trio. You can tell there voices right off the start of the recording.
Such a feeling's coming over me There is wonder in most everything I see Not a cloud in the sky Got the sun in my eyes And I won't be surprised if it's a dream Everything I want the world to be is now coming true especially for me And the reason is clear It's because you are here You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation And the only explanation I can find is the love that I've found Ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world Something in the wind has learned my name and it's telling me that things are not the same In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze there's a pleasing sense of happiness for me There is only one wish on my mind When this day is through I hope that I will find that tomorrow will be just the same for you and me All I need will be mine if you are here I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation And the only explanation I can find is the love that I've found Ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world I'm on the top of the world looking down on creation And the only explanation I can find is the love that I've found Ever since you've been around Your love's put me at the top of the world

Hi
AMÉN.
9 years after this incredible live performance Karen Carpenter died from an eating disorder. She was a one in a billion vocal talent.

Such a feeling's coming over me
There is wonder
in most everything I see
Not a cloud in the sky
Got the sun in my eyes
And I won't be surprised if
it's a dream
Everything I want the world to be
is now coming true especially for me
And the reason is clear
It's because you are here
You're the nearest thing
to heaven that I've seen
I'm on the top of the world
looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
is the love that I've found
Ever since you've been around
Your love's put me
at the top of the world
Something in the wind has learned
my name and it's telling me
that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees
and the touch of the breeze
there's a pleasing sense
of happiness for me
There is only one wish on my mind
When this day is through I hope
that I will find that tomorrow will be
just the same for you and me
All I need will be mine if you are here
I'm on the top of the world
looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
is the love that I've found
Ever since you've been around
Your love's put me
at the top of the world
I'm on the top of the world
looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
is the love that I've found
Ever since you've been around
Your love's put me
at the top of the world
