I live in Arizona about 1 mile from our local municipal airport and 15 miles from a regional airport. I can enter the exact AM frequency of the airports and also unicom freqs. The audio on the other frequencies (FM) entered in the radio are sharp and clear. no issues with RX and TX. Maybe just a bad radio on AM. Thanks for your suggestions, 73
The air band frequencies on my UV 17 Pro GPS sound terrible. They sound like they're off-freq , very garbled. FW version 1.07, HW version 1.30. Programming software 1.2.5k. Any suggestions? 73
@@rts3262 where are you located? Some frequencies around the world are spaced differently. Also make sure your frequency step is set to the lowest setting I think it's 2.5 maybe that will match some of the frequencies you're trying to receive. Does it sound distorted on every frequency? Maybe try and find one that you can get it to set the exact frequency and see if that still does it

@@t0pher45 no it's not going to transmit on airband I think that's locked out on pretty much all of these radios. You can purchase an airband HT but they are very expensive
Hi I just purchased this and will be getting it in like 16 days from aliexpress. It does have True/Real AM correct? I really do hope so cause I really only brought it to do Aircraft Recieve. Can't afford a Aircraft Handheld Radio 😢

I'm the developer of the modified CPS. The full-color LCD screen Baofeng models that have 999 channels and no zones use the T6UV software, which I have no current plans to modify. The 1000 channel models with 10 zones should all be supported by my modified CPS. I recently added the UV-G30 Pro to the list of supported models.
@@eskulaap Receive only in the aircraft band. Radios that can transmit in that band are a lot more expensive and you need to have a legitimate reason (and license) for transmitting. Otherwise you will end up having unpleasant conversations not only with the FCC, but with the FAA as well.
Ok I'm getting confused/Anoyed is the Baofeng uv-17 Pro GPS True AM or not? I keep having people tell me it's not 😔 I hope I didn't just waste money on another Radio 😞 How do you even check a radio to see if its True AM? Please help sorry for bugging 😔

He tears these little radios apart to identify each chip and processor. I do know that the airband definitely is better and more clear with this one for sure. I have compared several different radios and it's good on airband.

@@derekth71 I'm pretty sure it does not. You may have to get a real scanner for something like that. I will double-check but I don't think it does.

Is there any way to transmit on Airband? Be nice to have a backup comm in the plane or if we need a ground station
