I never knew Michael Rennie played the part. Nice job, but his role in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" still owns my heart.

Couple of years after this, Michael Rennie & Carolyn Jones were in an unforgettable first year episode of Wagon Train.
Michael Rennie was perfectly cast as the cool/calm/calculating Harry Lime in the early 60s Third Man tv series.
John Hoyt (Poole) was a busy supporting actor in many westerns.

I couldn't decide if I liked seeing Michael Rennie again or those Chrysler cars more.

Fine adaption by Gore Vidale no less. Perfect casting of Michael Rennie as Dr Jekyll although the pronunciation as JEEKYL rather than JECKyl was distracting. The print has a darker, richer look if you don't use full screen. In full screen it has a greyer more airless look and feel.

The thing about this version is, Michael Rennie doesn't look all that different. His friends and associates would still be able to recognize him. He has a lower hairline, but the basic features are similar enough.

They should have spent $200 million on this.

In the Stevenson´s novel Mr Utterson doesn´t kill Mr Hyde.

Carlos Zavalaga I think they borrowed that from The 1942 Spencer Tracy version. In the novella I think Hyde committed suicide because he couldn't turn back into Jekyll and the law was closing in. The Novella is written like a detective story and I LOVED IT!
