First ran into these guys at Trail Days in 2018. Had not heard of them even though they were local for me (I'm in Matthews, NC). I have alpaca gear from maybe 3-4 companies and their quality is by far the best. I did poke a hole in my hoody and they sent me some repair patches....for free. So great customer service as well. Not tried the 80/20 stuff as yet. I don't know that I've ever washed my big hoody, I've just aired it out a few times.
Omg yes, the right clothing makes a world of difference and is so often overlooked. Thanks for the excellent review, you even covered the seams-“trail seams”-I love it! I am drooling over their poncho. Also, I personally appreciate hearing about newer company’s roots, values, and what drives them. That, too, is important to me when choosing whom to support, and you went there. And that’s why I follow you. Happy trails, my friend!
What a timely review. I just got back from my Haute Route hike in Switzerland and the one thing I wish I had bought for the trip was a sun hoodie. I was bouncing between a Patagonia capilene zip LS and a Mountain Hardware zip fleece most days. A single 8020 hoodie would have cut some weight and and given me more sun protection with the hood. I'll definitely be adding one to my gear collection and one for the wife as well.
Super informative! Thanks for the all the great info Crow! I prob wouldn't pick one up unless I was doing larger miles on trail and I didn't want to bring spare shirts. The price is hefty but seems to have some great pros!
Brad, a great review and you are such a great spokesperson for AGC. I have their hoodie and have never washed it in the three or four years I have had them. Question, what temperature (high/low) would you not wear the sun hoodie? I wear nothing but sun hoodies now in the summer. Happy Hiking

Strangely it is not…when that added that 10% tencil in it…it is much more smooth than the 100% Alpaca. At least it is not scratchy to me. Thanks for watching it. Crow🙏

is there a shirt out there that doesn't rust ,bust ,or collect dust...doesn't have relations with the neighbors dog? what about a hiking shirt that Cures fits, warts, freckles, coughs, colds, runny nose Guaranteed not rip, run or snag and Makes conception a wonder and childbirth a pleasure.
