Others speaking of iconic legendary actor, Lloyd Bridges, he was like another icon, Lesile Neilsen who started out in more serious roles in his earlier films then branching out in comedies later in life. Both Lesile and Lloyd starred in Airplane. In the middle of comedies, Lloyd starred in 1994's Blown Away with his son, Jeff and Tommy Lee Jones.

You girls didn't say it but I HATE when others say "we can't make movies like this anymore." We can make comedies like *(Blazing Saddles) (Airplane 1&2) (White Chicks) (Tropic Thunder) (Hot Shots 1&2) (The Naked Gun 1 2 & 3) (Scary Movie) (Don't Be a Menace) (Police Academy) (Epic Movie) (Not another teen Movie) (Top Secret) (Monty Python) (Robin Hood Men in tights) Etc.* To those who get triggered don't have to watch but the rest of us can laugh & enjoy.
Everything doesn't have to be so serious none of us make it out of this life alive...

    • @Rocket1377
      @Rocket1377 Рік тому +3

I agree, although the reason they don't make movies like this anymore is because the genre was ruined by a string of unfunny parodies (Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, Extreme Movie) in the later 2000s.

It's ZAZ (Zucker Abrams Zucker), not Mel Brooks, but Hot Shots is a fantastic spoof on Top Gun.
Part Deux is quite good too, though has a lot more references.
The reason we don't get good spoofs/parodies lately is because over use of reference humor with no over-arching plot or originality ran them into the ground (the 'movie movies' - Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc)

Spoofs just died out like all genre's do. You are getting to see the best of the best, but there were a lot of bad ones that came out. Superhero's movies are going through it now. Hopefully quality spoofs come back.

An interesting thing about Washout ending up in Vegas.... Nellis Airforce base is a literal spitting distance from the Vegas Strip, and since so much training happens there, it isn't 100% impossible for some pilot to become disoriented and end up staring at the lights.

Apparently, the crew had great difficulty shooting this film both in stage and on location due to a serious chihuahua infestation. The problem caused many reshoots that threatened to drastically exceed their budget. It's also rumoured that there are still ruined shots that had to remain in the final edit... but I don't think it's noticeable.

Have you seen a couple of oldies, “Harvey” or “Arsenic and Old Lace” or “Bringing Up Baby”? Recommended for viewing.

❤ Oh speaking of Mel Brooks and Cary Elwes there is another over the top ridiculous comedy you might want to do a first watch ROBIN HOOD: Men In Tights.
Oh and not sure if you caught that, but the Indian stuff was spoofing 1991 Keven Costner long movie DANCES WITH WOLVES

'Four Rooms' is a good comedy that doesn't get as much play as it deserves.

13:42 A really dated joke. "thirtysomething" was a TV drama at that time which had just been cancelled after a 4-season run.

Another great movie with wonderfully offensive and twisted humor that couldn't be produced today.

If you thought Lloyd Bridges was “like the guy that’s there now,” just wait until you watch the sequel!!

I saw this in theaters. There are a lot of references to films of that time, including the oscar winner "Dances with Wolves", and "The Fabulous Baker Boys" that most will not get modernly. Please see part Deaux. It's even funnier than this one.

For summer baseball I recommend Charlie Chen in MAJOR LEAGUE.
