Hi and welcome to the Lesson 14b in DMAD - Marine Mammals Research Association's second free QGIS course. This course if for beginners to intermediates. In the last lesson we looked at how we can merge vector data on the same layer. In today's lesson we'll learn how to do the same thing for different vector layers such as our lakes and rivers buffer. To follow along you'll need to use the water files below with a 1km buffer. Not sure how? Complete QGIS 2 Lesson 7 to find out! (www.dmad.org.tr/qgis-2-lesson-7).

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you've not missed a video and hope we're now onto some of the more complex GIS techniques that you were hoping for. We're trying to cover as many useful techniques as possible!

Hi Aariz Ahmed. If the files are of the same type i.e. all the files you are referring to are points, all are lines or all are polygons then you can merge them by making sure they are both editable (right click on the layer and click toggle editing) and then go to Vector -> Data Management tools -> Merge vector layer.
